I just saw Vocal Synth from Izotope was updated from 2.5.0 to 2.6.0 The release notes updates are lagging behind on their website. Right now, I only see the last release notes from Vocal Synth 2.5.0

To me Echoes and Magnetic are great plugins. I got this suite long time ago. I don't think Echoes and Magnetic was part of the suite back then. But they gave me a great discount to add them. I really forget how good Magnetic sounds. Echo sounds great too. As well as all the Blue Tubes. They have gotten pushed to the back of the pile in favor of some of my other plugins, but they still have the sound of quality with them all. Except for those Essential plugins. I don't think I have ever used them.

I still have a physical PORTA ONE.

Installed it, activated it, now going through some of the presets. Then I learn IO have to d/l the sound content. first one is over 3gb. The second one, all drums, is 1gb. Then there is another 20gb of free content to explore! Gotta work in the morning. So I won't get a chance to hear them all. This was worth the $40 I spent.

This is another example of how tangents can make for more valuable threads. Thanks to everyone who posted links to the various banks. I've had the FM8 since it was the FM7 and never tried loading these banks. I'll give them a try this weekend. Seriously, this is truly part of what makes this such a great little community. It's not as big as KVR, but the vibe is mostly friendly and helpful. I'll do my best to try to pay it forward when I find the next opportunity.

As mentioned Nomad's creations were previously praised and regarded as solid plugins. They are maintaining their plugins - see changelog below, but no VST3 versions now and probably (AFAIK) not on the horizon. If lack of VST3 isn't a concern and you've been lusting for a particular plugin in it might be a good time to grab it. Using the gain doesn’t change tone. That is your ears lying to you. It is common knowledge that level has an effect on how we listen. A lot of snake oil plug ins make you think that they instantly make a track sound better but it’s just louder. Possibly understanding what you are trying to achieve would help offering a workflow that would help you better. Cakewalk has many options you can use to control the level of tracks. I actually rarely end up needing volume automation. I mostly use clip gain. I will also use tools such as Process Gain, Compression, Limiters and EQ. I try and leave all my faders at unity. I use the gain to set a target peak level for each track. I will use clip gain envelope for solos or brief changes. With clip gain I can simply highlight the section at drag the whole part up or down while observing the level read out showing at the pointer. As said there are dozens and dozens of workflows available and as you are finding out what works for one person doesn’t always work for you. Example almost all compressors, limiters and EQ,s have a input and output level control you can also automate. I have never needed this but it yet one more option.

There's also OPS7 from chipsynth that can open syx'es. It's an interesting alternative to all these lovely synths mentioned in this thread. Might be worth downloading the trial and see if it will interpret presets from the hardware synths any better.
