  2. Hey up all Anyone with any doubts about the capability of this platform to deal with what is needed in a live situation - I can testify it's excellent. This is us last weekend at Gosport Waterfront Festival high up in the listings supporting the headline acts. My rig (closest) has a songfile running selected from the Setlist whilst my very capable partner has his own Reason-based sound arsenal running seperately but he triggers start and stop from a previously mentioned footswitch (thanks to all on here for that one!) I'm remotely driving my Roland FA06 wirelessly via a Panda MIDI dongle from the AX Edge (the wireless audio can be problematic) but it's all being dealt with by Sonar with ease. It's also driving the outboard effects and tonight we are back in a local hostelry with it hooked up to our DMX lighting system. All done by Sonar. Who needs Protools? Once again, thank you to all for your timely advice and encouragement on here. HARDDRIVE

  9. AudioAssault: The Crown - Guitar Amp Sim (Mesa Boogie) $5 with code - RRP $39.99 Don't let the price fool you. This punches well above it's price 🙂 Use: AAFIFTY to get it down to $5 3 Channel Californian Amp Sim Modeled on the Mesa Boogie Triple Crown 100* https://audioassault.mx/products/thecrown The clean channel on this one is probably a bit nicer than some of their others. The gain channels are great too and it's got some different functionality. Instead of just clicking on the different IRs, it's more of an amp room so you can just click on the different amps as well and move the microphones too. A great feature that all amps should have, is that all the controls are per channel, so you can configure clean different to high gain and all the bass, mid, treble etc are retained when you switch between channels 🙂 Walk through

  12. I think Juno love is more about nostalgia for genres and classic songs that used it rather than the technical capabilities of the synth itself. back before the days of having a 100 soft synths, countless aspiring dance music creators could often afford a limited setup. For those who know the history of Deep House, Larry heard created House classics like 'Can You feel it" using a Roland 707 and Juno 6. The simple bassline was the 707 triggering Juno. The simplicity of creating sound on a Juno was for many a more usable option for many compared to other budget options like casio. This also create a copycat effect. Nostalgia has a habit of giving us reverence for things that were never the sum of our adulation. I do, however find that occasionally limiting myself to the budget tools of yesteryear helps trigger my beginner mindset and sparks creativity that scarcity sometimes provides. I have a template that is basically a Juno, 909 and sampler.

  17. For EU buddies: there are tools designed for disputes between consumers and traders in the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. I had to use it once with BestService and was entirely online, free and fast (within a week,IIRC). IKM is Italy-based, so, those within the EU affected by a legit MODO DRUM 1.5 SE unqualifying product for the GB *maybe* could get european customer policies protection. It might be worth a try go for a Online Dispute Resolution for unfair-treatment/commercial-practices. https://ec.europa.eu/info/live-work-travel-eu/consumer-rights-and-complaints/resolve-your-consumer-complaint_en

  18. Or simply let us have the SE entry. Win/win. It's not like they are loosing much, this sale is heavily restricted in compare to some great group buys of the past. I don't need Modo drums SE so I'm not buying it.

  24. I would push back on this, hard. Why should you have the responsibility for persuading their licensed vendor on this? If IK’s licensed vendor screwed up, IK is the one who should be taking charge of the solution, since it is 1) profiting from this, 2) could have easily drafted its own terms to avoid this situation; and 3) has much more leverage with APD than you would ever have. This “not my problem” attitude is just totally unacceptable coming from a company that claims to value customer service. I’m actually astonished by how long they are allowing people to twist in the wind over this. They are burning way more customer good will with all who are observing this than they will ever save in $ from the relatively small number of people affected.

  27. Going back to this earlier statement and the related screenshot, I'm gathering you recorded a mono input to a stereo track to begin with. This isn't causing the problem per se but it complicates the understanding of how FX will behave. Ideally you should first bounce that track to Split Mono with no FX active, delete the empty right-channel track, and start over with the remaining mono clip on a mono track with FX moved to that track.

  30. The link didn't work, so I popped over to your SC page to listen. Nice cover - I like it. Some great guitar work in there too. Splitting the vocals so wide is quite unusual - it was a little distracting. I didn't really notice the vocals popping in, but I did feel they disappeared quite quickly after each phrase; almost like there's a noise gate that's chopping the tail off with quite a fast attack. It's sounds ok, but in response to your question: if you're not doing so, I'd recommend passing the vocals through an optical compressor quite gently. Maybe add a little reverb here too to give the vocals a little tail*. Then maybe compressing the whole mix a little (again quite gently) on the master bus to help glue the elements together. Maybe before any compression, also use an EQ and roll off the lower frequencies on the vocal - this will help to not trigger the compressors with the bass content. Nothing wrong with how it sounds now though - well done! *Remember that the tails of a reverb are what's heard, and that the bass of the reverb has a tendency to muddy up a mix; if you put the reverb on a separate bus, put an EQ after it to roll off some lows if things start sounding mushy.

  33. Sort of off subject. The ref to Apollo 13. I never watched the movie since I was involved with it. I was a PCM Telemetry processor programmer working at Goddard Space Flight Center. I generated a lot of Telemetry processor "erratas" for Houston so certain parameters could be displayed on the tracking station Telemetry processors, and reported to Houston, but really have no memory of what all they were. Back in those days, the "high speed" data links to Houston (and Goddard) from the tracking stations was 4800bps. Telemetry data came down from the spacecraft at 51.2Kb/sec so it all couldn't be sent in realtime.

  34. So the error message is dumb there. I just pulled up the code for that and it shows that message any time the kit saving fails, but there's another case where it can fail that isn't obvious from the error message: it can't find some of the samples referenced in the kit. I assume that's what you're hitting: there are still some samples in that kit that can't be found (I'm still too much in just-woke-up-on-Saturday-morning mode to try to reproduce it by creating a project and moving things around myself, but I added a to-do list item for our next release). Can you go through and see if every pad can currently play its sample? If there are any that can't, even if you're not using that pad in your project, saving will fail. Just clearing said pad should get it to work. There are two different lists of kits there: one just recently used, and the second is "User Kits". If you have things in your user kits, Sitala does look in your user kits directory if it can't find something referenced. You can find the actual folder for that by clicking on the little icon next to "User Kits" in Sitala: There if something was in the user kits on the old machine, and is still in the user kits on the new machine, Sitala should find it there. But again, that only works for whole kits, not individual samples. Does that make any sense?

  36. Thanks for the answers so far, they are very helpful. 🙂 If the midi plugins filter in real time, that will be a huge improvement to my current setup. So if I understand correctly in order to have a mute work properly, each track will need it's own additional redundant midi track just to press the mute button and have the instrument decay properly? 🙁 I will give that a try as a work around, and hopefully it will at least get me through the projects I need to accomplish with Bandlab. Thanks again for the answers so far, knowledge is power! 🙂

  37. I am a big believer in people can pretty much do whatever they want to do if they put their minds to it. You just have to put in the work. Yes, some people have to work a lot harder and for some it comes easier, but if you put in the work you will get there. I prefer to think in terms of how can I do this rather than reasons why I can't. I realize I am also extremely fortunate to live in a rural area where I don't have to worry much about the neighbors and to have a wife who is not only supportive but who is also my sometimes partner in crime.

  42. Peter, have you been able to raise the discontent here back at IK HQ? Despite what's been posted here in this forum, and in support tickets, these are the T&Cs as stated on IKM's own website. I know you've cited the 'sole discretion to terminate or modify the promotion' clause, but essentially what's happening here is that IK is simply saying 'nah' without a valid reason. Literally the only two criteria stated for a product to be eligible for this promotion are that: a) the product must be registered between Aug 2nd and Aug 31st b) only new purchases, not transfers or giveaways are eligible. Those of us who bought ModoDrum at APD have fulfilled both of these criteria: There is still no indication either on IKM's website, or on APD's that people who buy ModoDrum from APD will not qualify for the promotion. And, given that it is listed as a $149.99 entry point, nor is it easy to see any justification for why it would suddenly only be counted towards a $39.99 tier product if IK decided to accept it as a qualifying purchase. I'm not a lawyer, but this seems incredibly sketchy. I simply don't see how IK has a leg to stand on in not honouring this. And from a business perspective, it seems astonishing that a company that just gave away what? 50+ products for the price of one in a group buy isn't willing to make some effort to retain customers' goodwill. Please understand that I've always appreciated you here Peter and don't want to shoot the messenger. But something stinks here, and customers are being hung out to dry.

  43. Well this is the thing. They are mincing words when it comes to the "value" of the product. Is the value what you paid for it or is the value what they post on their site on the promo? If I were to buy the product from another reseller who has it on clearance, and I paid 50% off, it has no bearing on what the value of the product is. IKM should not be changing the value of the product based on what you paid for it. They should be deeming the value of the product based on what they are posting on their site for the promo. You can buy Modo 2 upgrade for $188 on Thomman. IKM can't turn around and say, "We checked the Thomman site yesterday and you paid $188 so you are not in the $249 tier". And also, the jam points are a benefit you pay for through purchasing other products from them. It's just IKM up to their usual shenanigans again.
