  1. Confirming that: 1. Installer asked which of VST2, 3, and AAX I wished to install and obeyed my choice of VST2 and 3 2. Plugin asked me for license key upon CbB startup and accepted it, no dongle required 3. Nice resizable UI, and I threw it on a drum machine track and it gave it a crunchy, slightly pumpy depth that wasn't there before, so entirely worth the registration and d/l IMO

  3. I can't reproduce the issue with crossfading muted clips, but I highly recommend editing on the Parent track only when the take lanes are folded up. Also, although the following doesn't relate to what you're saying, it can trip you up when the take lanes are open: If you want to edit the takes, I find it easier to use the specific Edit tool for a function (e.g., Edit, Timing, or Split) instead of the Smart Tool. It seems that when the Smart Tool is in a comping situation, it thinks you want to comp, not edit. That confused me for quite a while until I figured it out. It also took me a while to wrap my head around the positional nature of the Smart Tool. There are three distinct vertical zones in a clip, and the Smart Tool has a different function in each one of them. If the Take height isn't tall enough, I find it impossible to hit the middle zone for doing selections. There's a workaround if there's a blank take lane above or below the take lane with the clip. In the empty lane, click where you want the selection to start and hold the mouse button down, then move the cursor down or up to the track with the clip, and drag to select. Comping does have a few rough edges, but the "rules" for comping are strict. If you follow them, it generally works well. Finally, if you're using Sonar instead of CbB, make sure you have the final version (or better yet, just use CbB). There were several fixes to comping over Sonar's lifetime that helped matters. I hope this helps!

  4. Not a music thread but I’m happy to say I’m back. On the 5th March I had my first verifiable attack of angina. Saw my Dr the next day the 6th. Exactly one week later, just 3 days ago I had a quadruple bypass. I’m up and about in hospital, was up within hours of clearing recovery. Am now in a private room even though I’m a public patient and I’m cautiously optimistic of going home on Monday. Hopefully to start a new healthier life. Thanks for all the kind wishes thus far and maybe just maybe there’ll be a song in there somewhere. Wow modern medicine is sure great. I feel tired but well hoping I’ve got many more years ahead of me.

  5. Let the good news spread throughout the land. Throughout the shining galaxies. From the mountain tops to the valleys below. From the fishes of the air to the fowls of the sea. I am here !!! (I think) (bloody cool, huh... Major honor to hang out with my old buddies and folks never met. When they shut down the old forum, was in the midst of irritating someone or something. Hope to pick this up where I left off.) Love you all, JohnKenn

  9. And hopefully it would put Rapture Pro back on track! I still think it's an amazing synth, I just wish they'd clean up a few of the loose ends (e.g., envelope problems, presets not being able to find samples).

  11. Well I'm a wimp and I took the path of least resistance. I followed directions and dropped the original into the new version and tried a few times but then the guitar parts all went weird?? So I did the right thing and poured a glass of Glenlivet and re sang it and guess what-- it's was even better! So there's always more than one way to do something in Cakewalk- I highly recommend the Glenlivet VST.

  13. I think you are right. Last week I wanted to install a copy of WaveRobot that I purchased in 2007. I was not able to access the challenge and response, so I sent an email to the company. Christian, (person in the above video) got back to me immediately, and helped me get the software installed. I was very impressed, especially since the software was purchased 12 years ago. I really like the features in 6.1, combined with the great customer care, has me seriously considering purchasing it.

  14. I added the license to iLok first, then ran the installer, so it didn't ask when I started up. SLightly different method to get installed, but same result. A free and totally usable clipper/saturator. Really digging this plugin!

  15. My eSoundz account says I paid $59 for Cinema Sessions Gold (they have had some crazy sales over the years) and I kind of think I overpaid. And that was for all four of the Cinema Sessions. eSoundz have quit selling this and all the infinite player instruments, I think. https://sonicreality.com/sounds/cinema-sessions/5447.html They don't sell the Infinite Player any more (no more Native Instrument serial numbers maybe)?, but these boxed versions may be the full package including Infinite Player serial numbers. If not it would be unusable. There is nothing wrong with the sounds in these but also nothing amazing or great (at least not by 2019 standards). Unless you really want Infinite Player for Kontakt for some reason I'd say these aren't deals you want.

  16. Hi, Bill, This is a really great start to a very cool progressive instrumental!👍 The keyboard and synth work are outstanding, the guitars are really nice, although, I would bring the distorted guitar a little bit more forward in the mix to get it closer to the clean chords that drive most of the song. The sound effects at the end were a cool little element to match up with the theme of the song title.😀 I'm on my third listen. The bass sounds nice throughout, and the piano outro is absolutely fantastic! I know you mentioned that the drums aren't finished yet, but when they are, I would bring the volume up quite a bit, to just below the clean guitar level, and then bring the bass up into the same ball park. Excellent stuff, Bill, can't wait to hear the finished product!☺️ Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Bob

  17. Hi, Steve, This is an absolutely beautiful acoustic ballad, really phenomenal!👍 Excellent writing, lyrics and arrangement, perfect instrumentation, outstanding vocals, and the mix sounds fantastic! This sort of reminds me of a cool fusion of Harry Chapin and early Cat Stevens storytelling ballads, but with a modern production style. You have an amazing talent for these classy, heartfelt ballads, and the material and production just seems to get better and better every one I hear.😀 Excellent work, Steve, keep 'em coming, my friend! 18. Thanks. This works well, and makes the USB ports recognizable in CbB. Managed to get the transport controls to work for CbB partially, although there was some sluggishness in response time. Need to investigate more the configurations of both CbB and the AW1600. But yeah, it rolls

  20. I can confirm that you can use this without a dongle. It looks like the Cloud License model phones home when you start your DAW. I love the look of this plugin and the simple and intuitive UI. Looking forward to checking this out. Thanks Nembrini Audio!

  31. Nice tune. Your vocals are great! You have a Phil Collins/Marty Balin quality to your voice. The melody is something that could be quite catchy with the right exposure. Drums could be brought up a bit. They sound a bit "foggy". Maybe that's how you want them to sound if you're looking for a "dream" quality, which would work here too. Overall a great effort. 😀John B

  32. +1 on what Alan said. In addition ... The UAD plugins show up and operate just like any other VST plugin in the DAW. The UAD drivers handle the connectivity between the DAW and UAD hardware. I've been using UAD PCIe boards with Cakewalk for years, and it works fine. As you likely know, the UAD plugins can only run using the UAD hardware (e.g. UAD PCIe, Apollo, etc.). Non-UAD plugins don't run on the UAD hardware. There is a limit to the number of plugins which can run simultaneously on a UAD board. I have a QUAD PCIe and occasionally hit the limit. You can always bounce or disable plugins as needed. Here's a link at UAD with a table of DSP usage for the plugins: https://help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/215262223-UAD-2-DSP-Chart Hope that helps.

  34. From what I've read, it's pretty limited at as a controller. Some say only transport works, others say only the faders work. I'd recommend giving Azslow's AzController a go. You should be able to "capture" the MIDI messages it's sending and map them accordingly. Working out what messages to send it back for fader movements might be trickier, but if you find it out then AzController will support it.
