  1. Zebralette was what convinced me to initially invest in Zebra2 back in, hmm, 2012? It's been my go-to synth ever since. Here's my very first experiment with Zebralette from back then. Bear in mind that this little guy is basically just a single oscillator! But Zebra's oscillators are pretty impressive even before you start applying modulation, effects, filters and its fancy envelope generators. Everything you hear in this ditty is Zebralette - no fx, not even EQ. Needless to say, I will be purchasing Zebra3 on day one of its release.

  2. Ok, I don't know if I'm "allowed" to share a personal observation or not, but here it goes . . . While purchasing drum midi pack "backbeats" from BestService, rather than sending me a code for "backbeats" they send me a GENERIC drum midi pack code. Seemingly from the TT ProductManager, I could select ANY drum midi pack, even those that are labeled as "new" (and likely won't go sale for a long time). Seemingly if you were to place six (6) separate orders [personally, I would NOT risk ordering more than 1 at a time in case they send you "backbeats" specific codes], you would have the equivalent of a @Bapu drum-midi-6-pack for about $67. YMMV. Apologies if I should have kept this to myself.

  3. https://www.musicradar.com/news/free-zebralette3-synth-plugin Set to appear in beta in Anaheim, Zebralette 3 is a single-oscillator version of the synth that will eventually be released as Zebra 3, the latest version of u-he’s most enduringly popular products. It also features one Zebra MSEG and, according to u-he’s Urs Heckmann, “a bit of surrounding stuff, made up from standard modules we have”.

  5. To change the color of a clip, select the clip (left-click it) and then you can select the foreground and background color of the clip in the Inspector. If the Inspector isn't already open, the standard shortcut key is "I". In the Inspector, get access to the clip properties by clicking the Clip tab: One way to do doubling in take lanes is to record with "Sound on Sound" selected (in Preferences >> Project >> Record). You can then record overlapping clips in separate take lanes within the same track. However, I prefer to record a double in a completely separate track because that provides independent adjustment of playback levels and other parameters (panning, effects, etc.).

  7. Very good little plugin from an excellent plugin developer. Had it since release, it's used on every track, subtle-ish, but adds some nice bottom end weight to your tracks, very nice.

  11. Looks like a number of their plugins have been updated (or at least since I last looked:)). Run their download manager to get.

  12. ToneX user here (with quite a few after market packs) These $50 plugins are an easy pass. I'd find far more value putting that money towards more packs. Also when I'm looking for Laney tones, I'm thinking more along the lines of Tony Iommi, Billy Corgan, or even the Lionheart (vintage tone and dynamics instead of a modern voice like the Ironheart)

  17. Nobody's gonna reprimand you for sharing this. However, this particular thread is specifically for feedback on the current release and it's to everyone's benefit that we all try to stay on topic. I know, it may sound punitive, but I'd suggest the Coffee House as a better destination for posts like this.

  18. No , that's the thing with Soundpaint. It's said they will never go on sale, but the prices are always pretty low. Also, there are a few free libraries you may want to download. You won't find instruments like that in TTS-1. 1928 Vintage Grand Steinway Adastra Ambiences

  19. @Canopus Thanks for pointing me at Soundpaint. I installed it and bought the Steel Drums for $15. My kind of budget . Defiantly a step up from TTS-1. The biggest difference is how it responds to velocity which of course the TTS-1 doesn’t. So I had to rework the track paying close attention to velocity. Sounds excellent. Will be exploring the library for more goodies. Do they go on sale?

  21. There’s no reason it would not work with Cakewalk but the deal breaker is it is only 16 bit. Both the M Audio interfaces at that price point are. See the video I just posted above for a complete overview of all the 2x 2 interfaces.

  24. I bought two at once and got two generic codes. They delivered them after an 8 hour delay. I had $9 in in bestcoin and I applied it. Drum MIDI was the only group of serials I was low on (only had 2 left). I recently stocked up on all the others at Thomann. I too can confirm they are generic. I just placed one more order for two. Had $0.78 in bestcoin and $3.59 in CC rewards bringing the total down to under $9 each. Happy 2024.

  25. I just bought 4 generic midi packs from Best Service. The codes were delivered immediately. I had some left over Best Coin to bring them down to $10 each. Per Bad Penguin’s recommendation I bought them one at a time. I also bought the Basic Rock EZkeys midi pack. I can confirm that Best Service is not giving out generic EZkeys midi registration codes. I have a theory that Best Service is dumping all of their surplus generic codes in anticipation of the new multi-product midi codes being offered by Toontrack.

  29. I love Songs of Innocence - one of my favorite rock albums of the last 10-15 years and the first U2 album I cared to listened to since Pop in the 90's. I know a lot of people like my then-wife who were really pissed off to see it listed in their library. I must admit that I would have reacted the same if I saw a Rihanna album appear in my purchases even if I didn't have to download it. All seems so strange retrospectively.

  31. So, I just finished up letting my 5 track, 8 measure loop time out on all the demo instruments. The transport kept on playing but with no sounds. I tried to make it crash, but couldn't. Earlier I tried booting Mixcraft 9 Recording Studio which I got as part of a Humble Bundle, but it never finished the VST scan. I like the Arturia synths I have used. Hope they can figure out what's going on so you can use them.

  32. After the Diamond bundle fiasco from last year not sure I’m prepared to buy one off native plugins unless in waves price territory. Would need to be super amazing. Still stings.

  33. It’s been a long time but there was this a period of time when I had a lot of crashes with TTS-1. It was only when adding it later to a project. I use it a lot with the download midi files and often keep it in the project for extra unimportant parts that I may or may not use. And you can always freeze things you don’t trust to last forever.

  38. @El Diablo There are four services that should be in your Task Manager as processes running anytime that you want to use NI hardware (which obviously precludes NI software). They are: NIHardwareAccessibilityHelper NiHardwareService NIHostIntegrationAgent (*this affects SW more) NTKDaemon (*this affects NA most) As for guitars outside of NI, I've really fallen hard for ImpactSoundworks Shreddage series; they are ultimately controllable with articulations (either IRT or ArtMap), have an excellent Fretless Bass, the Precision bass is above average, Archtop, Strat and Tele are quite good, and the Rosetta Fingerstyle is really good, but the tone requires some tweaking in certain places. The Indiginus guits are excellent in Cost/Benefit ratio, but lack legato slides. I also have a couple of AcousticSamples guitars (Hummingbird, GD-6) that run in UVI player that are great strummers, but get quite thin when used in solo picking mode. YMMV.

  40. After you've added your custom color to the first box in "Custom Color" via clicking the "Add to Custom Colors" button, press the Tabulator key on your keyboard twice. The first press will put the focus to the "Basic Color" palette, showing a black quadrat around one of the color boxes; the next press will shift that quadrat to the "Custom Color" palette. Now use the arrow keys on your keyboard to put the focus/quadrat to a different box where you want the next color added.

  41. Understood that it's not your arrangement, but the voicing is very innovative and unique. I occasionally will use a commercial MIDI file and just experiment with the instrument voicings to investigate what is in my libraries. Fun & entertaining. Again... great interpretation.

  42. There were actually quite a few posts in the old forums of people looking at SONAR and asking if the bundled software was locked to it. Some admitted quite frankly that they had no interest in SONAR, but wanted the included plugins specifically for another DAW. Another item to consider with bundling is that such would most likely also increase the price of the bundle. For newbies, that can be enticing, but for folks who already own them they could be paying more for a DAW for things they already own. The MAGIX Samplitude Suite is a good example of this, for a first-time buyer that can be an awesome deal, but some of the included apps in the last go-round were the same as when I got X5 (and you don't get an "extra" copy that can be resold with that). MAGIX does have the advantage that they include the latest version of SpectraLayers Pro (and older versions of their other software), but $199 each year (when it is on sale), is a bit excessive for a DAW upgrade. It would be more effective to split out the DAW from other apps, but there is definitely an interest for folks to pick up things that vanished when SONAR became CbB (Z3TA+2, Dimension Pro, et al.), and nothing precludes having 3rd-party deals for current SONAR owners rather than them being bundled. Even iZotope gets comments in this regard a lot. So many of their bundles overlap that people comment things like, "Only two applications are upgrades for me, the rest I already own."

  43. Not sure if you have tried using a custom Workspace. It can be used to exclude some features / distractions. For example, here's one I call "No Views"--it has just the minimal views possible: Functions in Views that have been excluded from a custom Workspace are also excluded. Compare the one above with the following Views: --from a discussion when one user had an issue with the Video View: More often than not, discussions of Workspaces come up when some users find Views and the features they use are accidentally excluded or someone has chosen the "wrong" factory Workspace. But, I have found customized Workspaces can be used to focus on specific workflow tasks. Just an option for reducing features / distractions. Another option is to customize the Control Bar by showing a limited set of modules or by setting unneeded Control Bar modules as Collapsed.

  44. Hi John. Yep. I am using the Focusrite drivers. It's a real mystery. Hi, Starship Krupa. I don't know. I just don't really like Cakewalk / BandLab. Maybe it has too many features / distractions. I'll try it anyhow and see if it gives me the same problems. We'll see. Thanks, guys!

  45. I see what you mean now. Personally, my Yamaha keyboard's sounds are much better than TTS-1 or MS GS Wavetable that it's not a problem for any MIDI file to be played on it, the default.
