  1. I'm just wondering if I need to check myself in to rehab. I really feel as if I'm on this forum for hours every day. Pick up phone, check what's happening, put down phone, pick up phone a minute later and repeat ad nauseam. I know also that it's pretty much the same gang here every day, day in day out. I just wanted to know...how are you doing it? Same as me? Page open at work? Same as me but without putting your phone down or leaving your computer screen? I know I'm not alone. I'm just having serious difficulty breaking free.

  6. I've only owned these for like 2 weeks, but let me give some feedback on some of them I've actually used. Cinematic Rooms is incredible for placing things in a real place. IN-CRE-DIBLE. It's almost surreal how real it sounds. It can be completely transparent if you want it to be like few other reverbs I've heard. Actually probably only VSS4. Seventh Heaven is more "coloured" and not necessarily meant as a room or glue reverb. It works well on vocals if you don't mind noticeable reverb. Somebody on VI-C said it's the only reverb that works really well on percussion. I've tried that a bit and love it, but that's almost the only thing I use it for. Tai Chi is even more colourful. Works great on synths and sometimes on guitars. Definitely an "effect" reverb. Lustrous Plates is the best plate reverb I've heard and has a ton of parameters to work with. Replaced ValhallaPlate and SuperPlate for me. Absolutely incredible on horns and snares. Wondering why this isn't mentioned more. I had practically never heard of it before buying it (without demoing, of course). HD Cart is an emulation of an extension module of the Lexicon 480. I haven't used it much, or really at all beyond trying it quickly, but it seems very much like an effect reverb. Very niche sound between real and dreamy. Don't care about Reverberate and Illusion. So yeah, the "must buy" here is Cinematic Rooms Pro, but obviously it's ridiculously expensive on its own. The non-pro version is more affordable, but people generally go for pro because it has like 5 times as many presets (and they are amazing) and a lot more parameters to work with. All of that having been said, I would imagine Valhalla or whatever else your favourite is can get you to about 90% of that quality, but as almost always in life, if you want to get the last 10% of quality, you need to shell out the big bucks.

  11. Visiting this forum is like gambling, because it's easy to do and it randomly rewards you for it. And sometimes those rewards are big. Add to that those times when you missed out on a really good deal because you didn't visit this forum during that one hour window when some glitch was active, and you have a pretty big incentive to hit that refresh button every chance you get. I think you need to ask yourself two questions: Is there something more important I'm doing less because I'm always here? Should I be spending this money on something else?

  14. Hey shoot me an email and I’ll get you a discount code to get the $1 dollar deal. and I’ll toss in the thump pack to your order for free. I think there are some really unique presets in that pack and the overtone wavetables are pretty cool and I don’t think there’s anything else like that around besides sublab and the x sub engine. I’d be curious to see what you think!

  17. Sorry for scaring the forum gods with such a good deal. Being my first post here, it probably helped make this appear a bit too good to be true so I can understand why they deleted it. I should have written that I’d put my order in and was awaiting a serial number. This morning I received the serial and activation code from Pro Star. Great deal!

  19. Mentioned before - but I do almost all my buying in November / December. These forums save me so. much. damn. money. Fully worth the time. I will check multiple times a day over these two months, because so much crazy stuff pops up, and Vi-Control / this forum, etc. are filled with people that are really scouring the net for obscure deals, or know how stackable deals work, or know what region to buy things from. This is a goldmine of info. But after January 1st, the buying is done and I try to avoid newsletters, forums, Youtube channels, etc. as much as possible until summer sales - but will just up in occasionally to see if some crazy deals are going on throughout winter / spring. As for making this a more healthy activity: make lists. Make critical lists of what you need. Be very specific. Ignore literally anything that's not on the list. If you needed it, it would be on the list. Deadlines also help. No time for gear love when a contract is on the line. But I know some people like the communities and talking about things, which is great. Nothing wrong with that. But if you're buying stuff you don't need, and it's affecting your finances, or happiness, or stopping you from getting thing done. Then ya, might be time to put a padlock on the computer.

  20. I think it's a bit of escape from everyday pressures, at least it is for me. It's a place to nerd out on everything music-related and though we're spending our time here talking gear, music is the common bond here between us, regardless of what genres everyone is into. I wish this same group ventured into the song section and we all shared our music more often. I'd love to hear what everyone is doing musically. I'd suggest people check out that subforum. It's an encouraging little group.

  21. Yeah, this **** takes up half my free time every year from November to New Year’s at least. But then for the rest of the year I have all these new tools to scroll past on my way to not ever making any music, so it’s worth it.

  23. Well first of all your i9 alone outclasses the vast majority of computers in the wild. Then adding a Video Card on top of that (which is still fairly modern) and you clearly meet the it should work spec. The average person these days has a laptop (your machine will smoke many pretty expensive machines these days) so you are far from a normal use case. Not even close. Davinci would run without your GPU with that kind of processor, but yes, Davinci should in theory be looking for the GPU when it was installed.

  24. This has to be the best free thing they have ever given away. Already had it, but this is one of the only plugins they make that I've actually used on projects before. Most of the others never seem to get used.

  25. Grab this if you don't already have it! It's the poor man's Gullfoss -- not nearly as many bands, but can produce very similar results on many sources for less CPU hit!

  29. I was just about to post something very similar. NI had a significant price drop for KONTAKT Player for developers for free libraries that, I believe, occurred during version 6. That led to many developers deciding to to release freebies for KONTAKT Player, some of course, didn't arrive until version 7 was introduced. I think the pricing change for developers was a very smart idea on NI's part, as they've significantly increased the amount of DAW users who have experienced using KONTAKT and a KONTAKT sample library, so it starts a relationship between NI and many users that didn't exist prior to the change. On the user side, it means people who don't own - - including those who can't afford -- KONTAKT can now enjoy freebies that were historically only for those who owned the full version of KONTAKT.

  31. Anyways, it’s Kontakt (Player) 7. I guess that version doesn’t require devs to pay NI much. That’s why we’re seeing more and more free Kontakt Player libs.

  32. Okay - this is annoying af. I could have gotten Solo, Fluid Brass, and Fluid Winds on top of what I bought during BF, and paid $30 less. So I got Talos ($99), Aeria Lite ($71), Nucleus ($202), Cerberus ($90), Jaeger ($141). That's $604 total. And had to figure out their complicated loyalty system to maximize discounts. Now, a week later I basically could have just bought Talos and Aeria Lite ($170 total), then picked up this bundle for $399 and paid $569 total, AND got Solo and the Fluids. I decided not to get Solo because my budget was capped. My loyalty price was around $130. So technically, to get everything in this bundle + what I got during BF would have cost $800+, but could technically be had for $200 less one week later. Uggh. Punches wall. EDIT!! Nevermind, the bundle doesn't include Nucleus. I thought it did. Fixes the drywall.

  34. its a form of computer software consumer addiction. i am working on it. but you need to break it. its similar to when i was younger and used to be addicted to spending money on TV and DVDs. you would hang around places where you would hear about deals and buy stuff. its all just junk and garbage. it all goes into the garbage in the end. the best thing to do is stop following it.

  41. If you Open the midi file Cakewalk automatically inserts the TTS-1 and your midi file will play. If it is a GM midi file the correct instruments will also be assigned. This video explains how to use a pre made midi file. I have a few other videos that explain how to edit midi as well my playlist https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7YqVth30eGsURWrKGeu-fFyg3ETjF-Ox&si=0y1uOWy6ysV5tgVo

  42. My bandlab assistant app wouldn't open and I guess I was running an old version of cakewalk. I logged on to the website and downloaded cakewalk and it appears I have the pca2 now. IF im missing any modules I wouldn't know. I didn't uninstall cakewalk or nothing I just downloaded the new one. I did follow the link and find the dll file from glenns post. So if you try it and it doesnt work follow that link and get the dll. Thanks everyone.

  44. I bought Tai Chi and have tried *every* preset on guitars, vocals, and drums and none of them really impressed me. None of them sounded bad, but none of them stood out compared to my other reverbs. Of course, YMMV.
