  2. Just curious... Do you by any chance recall what the CPU hit was for the lite version? The reason I ask is that the Full & Lite version are the same plugin - just various features unlocked when you register it as Full. It's possible that they both hit have the same CPU hit. Personally I was totally unimpressed by the Lite version and the Full version doesn't have enough (of anything for me) to warrant me spending the extra $ My recommendation is if you don't have PSP InfinitStrip that you throw your money that direction instead. Yes it costs more but in terms of bang for the buck (or Euro, Peso, Pound - what is the phrase out side the US?) you get so much more. But as they say YMMV.

  4. HoRNet HA2A 90% off only for our newsletter subscribers Are you ready for a secret sale? For a limited time only, use the discount code SSHA2A0923 at checkout and receive a massive 90% discount on HoRNet HA2A. This offer is available until September 7th at 11:59:59 PM (Italian time), so don't wait! Head over to our website now and start shopping. Remember, the discount code SSHA2A0923 is your ticket to big savings, but you can use it only once! HoRNet HA2A is a faithful recreation of a very famous opto compressor made of tubes, transformers and a very peculiar combo of a photo resistor and an electroluminescent panel. We modeled a real piece of gear which is found in the studio of our friend Flavio aka TheBuildzer, we measured the response of the unit, the transfer function, the attack and release behavior and put everything into this new plugin which improves the OPTO model in Multicomp Plus MK2 and recreates the sound of this historical compressor. https://www.hornetplugins.com/plugins/hornet-ha2a/

  5. TBH I wouldn't expect them to respond as any response may create a liability. The verbiage is (now) on their web pages to cover their keisters should iZotope/NI not be happy with out of scope users buying it. And verbiage itself technically answers the question. Yes either JRR or iZotope could have coded things to prevent out of scope users from either purchasing (please enter your MPS serial number to check if you qualify, etc.) or installing it but neither did probably because it's a friggin headache to do so and often has issues.

  7. I am sure that the people that got in on this pricing error don't have anything to worry about. If you got serial numbers and then registered them, I believe that we got a great fantastic magical deal and these licenses will not be revoked. If you didn't get in on the deal, then you missed out and will have to pay full price. Simple. Enjoy the software. Thanks Uncle E!!

  15. There's one thing to know about Hornet's secret sales... spoiler alert... they're not secret and pretty regular! Many of us are subscribers to his newsletter and a lot of the deals posted here for all companies in this forum are for newsletter subscribers and people posting them here saves them being missed in everyone's inboxes. So the extra sales that Sav would get from sales of people that miss their newsletter in their sea of emails and those that aren't even subscribers but only buy because they see it here does the opposite of hurting the dev. In every situation he's getting more money than he would by not sharing

  16. Guitar Rig 6 was a bit of a step up from version 5. The new IRs made a huge difference to existing amps. The ICM amps, Chicago, Fire Breather, Fire Eater (or whatever) were improvements over the existing models. Hopefully the new ICM Vox, Twin, and SLO models are also improvements over the old versions. I'll also say I'm not typically a Fuzz Face fan, but the Red Fuzz has something special about it. Hopefully the new Seattle fuzz is worthwhile. One other thing about 6 was that it was the first version to include all of the "Pack" effects as well as a version of Replika. TLDR GR 6 made a lot of significant improvements over v5. It looks like v7 continues to go in that direction.

  18. There shouldn't be any more crashes than the older versions but if you can send across any dump files we'll certainly look into it. Please post any problem reports in the main EA thread. The primary changes to the current version of CbB are bug fixes and Microsoft tool updates, nothing major has changed. Re Sonar I can assure you that pricing will be very reasonable. May be even better than you expect Regarding the integration with BandLab the new Sonar is greatly improved in this regard. It also supports direct project interchange with the new Cakewalk Next product which is natively integrated with BandLab. For example, in Next you can download a project from bandlab and use it exactly as it was with its native effects. Then you can transfer it to Sonar if you so choose for mastering etc.

  19. MCompressor from the MeldaProduction FreeFX bundle is the one that most helped me understand compression and how to set up a compressor. It's both a great learning tool and a great compressor. If you haven't yet purchased the upgrade for the FreeFX bundle (and if not, why for heaven's sake), it's very versatile without the upgrade.

  20. I realize the sale is over -- and it will probably be as much as 7 days before the next one -- but I just wanted to say that after taking @MusicMan 's advice and buying the HA2A, I tried it on drums and love it. I haven't even tried anything else yet! I've picked up a little more than a dozen of this developer's plugins and especially like this one and the Spring Reverb and the prices on both were ridiculously cheap (the Spring Reverb was recently free). So to those wondering if this developer is any good, in my experience, he is definitely good. As he constantly has sales, it's pretty easy to pick up his plugins dirt cheap. Thanks again, MusicMan!

  21. The Voltage bundle contains different modules that are not found in the strip, but also a couple of algorithms from Infinistrip. Apples and oranges, both fruit. The Nitro modules for example are taken from N2O. https://www.pspaudioware.com/products/psp-n2o Great filters, not in the channel strip.

  22. The price would be very affordable so there is really no need for panic. (less than what anyone paid for SONAR platinum) We expect that most people who actively use CbB today should have no reason not to upgrade to a paid and fully supported product.
    3 points
  23. To be clear, there will be no more feature updates or bug fixes to the CbB codebase. The only reason it's being kept active for now is to provide users time to transition to the upcoming (paid) Sonar product. If you do intend to use Cakewalk please consider moving to Sonar (when its available obviously). We also plan on having a public beta release for it soon once the user interface is complete, so you can make up your mind. There is no change from the workflow of Cbb so the transition should be effortless. If you have requests or bug reports continue to post them but they will only be fixed in the new Sonar release.

  25. The TTS-1 uses exactly the same samples as used in all of the Roland Sound Canvas modules - in fact it's actually a software emulation of the Sound Canvas. The D110 predates the Sound Canvas by quite a few years, and is a totally different beast being based on LA synthesis. AFAIK there are no piano samples in the D110 to speak of (except maybe the shortest piano attack you could imagine). I've got a D110, and the piano sounds are awful... but pianos aren't what you'd use this synth for. The U110 / U220, which were around at the same time have piano samples and aren't that bad for the time, but are to my ears inferior to the Sound Canvas (and therefore the TTS-1 too). I've got both the D110 and the U220 (as well as the MT-32 and CM-64)... they have their uses, but nowadays not so much! The D550 is the only one that still has charm for me.

  27. Side comment on this one, since it comes up quite often. A "solution" to lackluster samples I have come to rely on Melda's MCharacter. It excels at dry, monophonic material and allows you to sculpt harmonics in samples before sending them into an FX chain (always use this first in the chain). Even with TTS-1, you can up-sample the default piano and get very usable iterations. It can definitely address a lot of "sample quality" issues as well as the urge to buy more instruments of the same type, and is one of the very few plugins that lets you do harmonic surgery on a "note by note" basis. That said, a few important comments on this, especially if you are unfamiliar with MeldaProduction... 1) Melda has a 15-day fully functional trial on all products, so set aside time to test it before ever buying it, 2) Melda always has plugins for at least 50% off (either in the Eternal Madness cycle or during holidays), 3) Melda gives you $10 just for signing up for a newsletter, and 4) If you use another's referral code you get 20% off your first purchase (but I would honestly save that silver bullet for a bundle, not an individual plugin). MCharacter will struggle with wet or polyphonic material, but can certainly be used for creative purposes. Over the years I have shied away from samples that have baked in FX (like Spitfire Audio LABS), and often turn internal FX to VSTis off (MCharacter needs to be first in the chain to be most effective). Also, there are a lot of free VSTi pianos out there, and many can be "dealt with" by using external FX chains as long as the samples are dry. Quick edit: The TL/DR version of the above is that MCharacter lets you surgically change the timbre (even mutating one instrument into another). I was chuckling to myself when I realized the "simpler description" is just one word!

  33. SONAR went from SONAR 1-8 to SONAR X1-3 to SONAR Platinum, all being new versions of the application with new features. This is no different in that regard. There's a lot of additional work that is currently going into Sonar that is not currently in Cakewalk by BandLab which absolutely constitutes it as a new version of the app.
    2 points
  34. I think you are reading too much into it. There is no timeline to phase it out currently so it will be around awhile. No need to be concerned, users will be given plenty of time to make up their minds whether the new Sonar is for them. 6 months is just the standard reactivation period that has been in place since the start. That said, for anyone using CbB regularly it seems like it would be a no brainer to upgrade to a product that will be supported and receive updates, instead of using an older unsupported version. Hopefully the new features and the cool new UI will be exciting to most users. The reactivation requirement is for multiple reasons - Cbb/Sonar/Next are all connected apps that integrate with the BandLab ecosystem. There are often backend changes, that require cached state to be refreshed to work properly, not very different from the reason digital certificates and cookies expire. Additionally, these changes require us to change the application to continue to work properly, which is why we occasionally need to do updates that in turn refresh activation. The other reason is to ensure that for support purposes we have users running on the latest versions.

  36. I have no worry about my already installed and being used version!! LOL I was wondering if others can still jump in on this? Or did they really close that loop? IOW, if you jump through the loop now, will you still get it or will you be denied? Maybe they left that loop open for exactly the reason you stated in that other thread (or was it this one?)... Izotope is getting new customers!! IOW they are saying it's closed... but you can still get in. Anyone made a purchase today that didn't buy Ozone or Nector in Aug and still got the upgrade for $42? Enquiring minds want to know!!

  37. What's new in 5.7.3.? The SoundID Reference audio driver for macOS has been reworked to support a wider range of setups. This should fix errors like “Preset switch failed”, “Unable to load the audio driver” as well as provide a lower latency. Also, “Save this preset” button is implemented in the Custom Target mode, both for the standalone app and the plugin. This allows easier overwriting of the previously selected Custom Target preset. After read this thread, I wanted to do an utility to download the sounds easily and quickly Sometimes, I am not sure if I have downloaded a Free Sound from BoomLibrary or not, and is very hard to have to navigate one on one to see, download, the Free Sound (I have 199 sounds now,... so imagine the situation) So, I have done this little utility named BoomLibrary Free Sounds Downloader to download the Free Sounds assigned to your account You have to do some manual steps, but after this, it downloads the sounds for you You will find it here: https://github.com/J0rgeSerran0/BoomLibraryFreeSoundsDownloader

  41. I see the Pure products as having 2 things going for them which made me buy them while owning the big brothers: - Quick setup. I do a lot of studio jams for Youtube and Soundcloud and I'm not going to spend 2 days EQ-ing and compressing everything. 2 hours max (in total!). I also don't need it to be perfect, just good enough. - If I like where it is going AND I have the time to go deeper and tweak, I can. White Sea is right about a desired feature, namely transporting your 'Pure' setting to the 'Smart' plugin. That would be awesome. Should it be included/free? I don't think so. They may do sort of the same, but the purpose is very different imo.

  44. Historically, Microsoft has had $9 versions for work-from-home situations (one for Office, one for Project, and one for Visio in for the 2019 versions), but nothing prevents companies from scarfing up tons of them and reselling them. When linked to your Microsoft account, you can even log in as a new user on a computer and use them. The mobile versions are free, and I have always just logged into those apps with my Microsoft account and they work and transfer files without issues.

  48. We've Been In the Age of BS Plugins and BS Reviewers a Long Time, I Call BS on the Source [People who target me for hate posts and PMs, please skip this --it's literally that easy! Try it.] We reached the age of BS plugins quite a long time ago and I find it ironic that in the age of BS reviewers AKA influencers, we have an influencer calling out anyone else for BS. Let me be more specific. I think this influencer does nice, thorough, but highly biased reviews -- and they're provably biased (I'll show it below) -- and doesn't even bother to comply with UK, US or other country legal disclosures for compensated influencer reviews. They do developer-funded promotional write-ups pitched as reviews and don't clearly disclose that upfront as they're required to do (yes, you can figure it out if you look deep enough on their site, but they're counting on the vast majority of readers / watchers not looking that far -- they won't). There are lots of questionable or BS plugins, but I wouldn't look for a BS reviewer to be the beacon of truth to find who's doing BS plugins. I'm pretty sure that their client list contains a number of developers that some experts would say make some BS plugins. FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO FIGURE OUT THE CLUES THAT A "REVIEWER"/INFLUENCER IS FINANCIALLY COMPENSATED WHEN THEY'RE NOT UPFRONT ABOUT IT One easy way that you can tell that a "reviewer" is unbiased is that they pitch developers to contact them. They do this to discuss their price to promote the developer's products in their "reviews." Legitimate reviewers NEVER do this. It would be a violation of journalist integrity in the journalism world and a violation of ethical standards in the testing world (consider Consumer Reports reviewers asking for money before they review a brand's products). Real reviewers are never considered partners by brands whose products they review. That would though up an ethical question with regards to bias. So here's Production Expert's pitch to developers who want their products reviewed: "Our success in helping brands engage is built on a unique model that partners with you rather than simply sells you ads. We work to get you and your products in front of the right audience and then help them discover them in our own unique style. We generate interesting content that leads to a regular response....If you want to know more about working with us to get your high quality products and services to our loyal fans then click here. " Now take a look at the testimonials and what they state (yes, these are companies that compensate the "unbiased review site to 'review' their plugins and sample libraries" (emphasis added to call out telltale statement): “Production Expert proved to be an invaluable partner to us when we launched our Fresh Air plugin last year. Their detailed, hands-on product reviews and reach helped introduce our products to thousands of music producers.” Sagar Jethani, VP Marketing, Slate “It's always a pleasure to work with Pro Tools Expert. Their proactivity and inclination to always produce quality content has made it very easy for Arturia to communicate efficiently to producers on a wide array of products and updates.” Arnaud Dalier-Lamon, Marketing & Press Relations Coordinator, Arturia “The highly knowledgeable and experienced Pro Tools Expert team did a fantastic job helping us to launch VocAlign Ultra. Their understanding of the product and ability to clearly communicate its benefits significantly contributed to our most successful product release ever.” Joel Heatley, Marketing Director, SynchroArts “LiquidSonics has worked successfully with Production Expert for over five years now. Initially in a limited capacity around product releases to quickly pull eyes onto products during launch, but in the last few years we have been able to expand the breadth of our work with the Experts to cover many more opportunities to connect with musicians throughout the yearly cycle. This has become possible as our portfolio has widened and our understanding of what the Experts can do with us has matured. By working with a range of knowledgable content creators on the Experts staff we can show and explain how LiquidSonics reverbs are beneficial to producers working in all sectors of the industry and to any budget which is essential to our marketing strategy of connecting every producer with the reverb they need to deliver an outstanding mix.” Matt Hill, Founder, LiquidSonics “Production Expert is a long-trusted media partner of ours whose popularity and credibility in the industry is evident in its rapid expansion through the years...For the past decade, PE has helped us share our stories and bring our products to market and we look forward to the next decade of news and insights.” Melissa Misicka, Senior Director of Brand Marketing, iZotope "...[Production Expert is] early adopters of new marketing practices and always striving to deliver maximum value and ROI to their partners. During the launch of our EVO by Audient brand and the subsequent interface range, PE played a vital role in helping us communicate our product proposition in a thoughtful and engaging way. They have been and will continue to be an important partner in our holistic marketing strategy going forward." Andrew Allen, Marketing Director, Audient “...I’m honored that Groove3 has been able to partner with PTE over the years...” Asa Doyle, CEO Groove 3 “Pro Tools Expert has been an integral part of our annual marketing activities and a reliable business partner for several years now. Especially in pandemic times they established themselves as a valuable source of ideas. When we launched new products during those challenging times Pro Tools Expert helped to bring those to market and where an important and key partner to help to roll out the news properly.” Kerstin Mischke, International Sales & Marketing, EVE Audio “Launch has gone really well thanks. Best in our history! Your feature was a big part of that.” Giles Farley, Sales & Marketing Director, Sonnox Influencers make money through a variety of channels. If they're on YouTube, they make money through ad revenue. They often make it through affiliate marketing (sales) of the products they do videos about. And the most successful influencers trade on their influence to get money upfront either through direct payment for creating content about the brand's products or through asking them to buy advertising or sponsor a video. FTR, I'm certainly not anti-marketing, (I'm certainly going to take crap for this, but I think next time someone states that I don't know what I'm talking about, I should clarify that this is my area of professional expertise). I'm very pro-ethical marketing -- marketing is my career. What I have a problem with is deceptive marketing practices -- practices designed to deceive its target audience -- and that is what the vast amount of influencer marketing is just and govt regulatory bodies don't have the resources to police it and there are not a lot of marketers complaining about that -- they just take advantage of using influencers reach as part of their promotional plans and budget. It's very often a confidence game where the influencer hides that they're getting compensated to promote a product, deceiving viewers into believing that they're unbiased -- it's a deception. And complying with federal regulations is not in any way constricting or difficult for ethical marketers. I was pushing for regulating SPAM in the US back when, and a fair amount of marketers opposed it. The regulations passed but were far less than what they should have been -- which is almost always the reality due to lobbyist groups influencing politicians. So yes, there are lots of BS plugins, but I wouldn't look to an influencer who doesn't disclose their financial relationships and paid reviews clearly to be a great source of truth on this subject. For anyone interested in learning more about regulations (this is for the US federal regulations, which are often not as thorough as many European country regulations): https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/advertising-marketing/endorsements-influencers-reviews
