  1. A guitar player that I know well, Terry Liedel, also auditioned for Grand Funk... He didn't make the cut...but Mark still hangs out in the group we all hang out it at an annual event called "Barnfest" - a charity Weekend of concerts held in a big Barn in Linden, MI. A different Band every hour on the stage for 3 consecutive nights. Our band played it twice...

  2. Rush shows (and Neil's massive part in the spectacle) were amazing. Started with Signals, personally, and they only got better. I admit it wasn't possible to keep Geddy's voice to stay the course in the later years but if people skipped shows for that they only have themselves to blame for missing legendary performances.

  4. “I think Selling England By The Pound is an enduring masterpiece of drumming. Beautiful drumming, lovely sound, and the arrangements, I think they really nailed the best of what that band as an entity could have done with that album” – Neil Peart on Phil Collins

  6. $121 U.S.D. for the 50th Anniversary Edition of All Things Must Pass. I think I'll pass. That's absolutely ridiculous. When I was a kid I used to go to the town dump on Sundays to see what cool stuff people chucked. One of the people in town committed suicide and they just dumped all the stuff from his apartment right at the beginning of the dump. I know this because he wrote his name on the albums. A common thing people used to do. I got all the original U.S. releases of all the Beatles albums as well as all their original 45s and a few solo albums. All Things Must Pass was one of them. It was like Christmas and my birthday times a 100. Many years later I lost them all when my basement flooded. I actually cried when it happened. I'd love to get this set. I've heard the remixes on XM and some on Youtube and they did an excellent job. For the first time ever I can understand all the words. It's like they dialed back the 'wall of sound' and made it more of a George Martin sound if that makes sense. But $121 bucks? My Sweet Lord that's a lot of Wah Wah. 😟

  8. Where is this showing, I'm not on a Windows machine at the moment and I'm assuming that is where you might be seeing it? I did report that the Release Notes link in the IK User Area says 1.1.0 so that should be taken care of. But this is definitely a new update. When I can get into the home studio I'll definitely be installing it on my main Windows beast there as I was running into the installation issue that this fixes.

  9. Wow... IKM won't give me credit for the Group Buy for registering the Fender Collection because I already have a license registered to my collection. Yet they are more that happy to sell me duplicate licenses, below is an image from the web page listing qualified items for Group Buy. that and questioning where I obtained the license from (which I purchased from one of IKM's resellers) , being reminded that I can't sell or give away free items... Since when has the Fender Collection been free? Can't they track which vendor they supplied a license to? The whole exchange with support has left me feeling as if I'm tainted. Below is the last email response for IKM support on the subject... THIS IS BOGUS - no where in the terms does it say that the registration must be for a item that you do not previously have. Here's the terms of the Group Buy directly from IMK's web site.

  10. Finally got me licenses!!! EWSO Platinum is 117 Gb. 48 Gb for Strings, 34.5 Gb for Brass, 13.8 for Percussion, 24.2 for Woodwinds... 24 bit 44.1 Khz Sample Rate. (Platinum Plus only adds the 16 bit version - which I don't care about - I still have the Gold 16 bit Version for "scaled back use"!) Just started downloading, so will post back when I get a chance to use (in Opus)!

  11. Fixed. Session Drummer uses an sfz engine like Dimension Pro, Rapture and Studio Instruments. Dropping samples onto the pads plays just one sample but a pad can play multiple samples when loaded with an sfz file.

  12. JK sat in with The Fab Faux a few years back here in L.A. He hardly hit the skins. Good thing Rich Pagano was playing alongside of him. At least I could hear Rich. BTW I was in the 5th row so I was hearing the stage not the P.A.

  15. Or truly everything including hardware qualifiers. This year was tough with the component shortage so we have had a hard time keeping units available globally compared to previous years. We're set for the new pedals but we're also making sure we can keep pushing out more and more monitors, interfaces, and can get some of the planned exciting hardware to market as soon as possible.

  16. Well. I am throwing in Jim Keltner into the thread. I saw him live with Little Village (Ry Cooder and Nick Lowe in the band) a long time ago and he totally blew me away by what he was doing live. It sounded like there were two drummers on stage. He usually doesn't over play on records, but one of the most mesmerizing drummers I ever saw live. Cool interview withe guy

  18. It will be easy to gauge: we need one tier a day for the next 22 days... unless... they extend the group buy as they have done in the past! The suspense is killing me! Or maybe I should just take a few deep breaths and get a life! 😋 Maybe make some music with what I already have? Naaaa! Let's refresh the counters page one more time! 😆

  21. One of my favourite bands Jeff Porcaro did session work with is Scottish band LOVE AND MONEY. A most amazing album y'all should go listen to is called STRANGE KIND OF LOVE ( on spotify etc ). Here is the title track with JEFF, listen to the sound, that snare hit coming in after intro vox at 1.19

  28. Well I opted to get the upgrade from East West Symphonic Orchestra Gold to Platinum. I had forgotten that I only had Gold, so that was the most affordable thing for me to do... I REALLY wanted AR1....but even the payments would have been tough...

  29. I’m leaning towards AR1 because of the upcoming orchestral foundations modular system Christian discusses in video I posted above at 12:58. Seems you will be able to mix and match which sounds pretty cool.

  34. So far I'm loving the new instruments. I have a HW Prophecy and the emulation is near enough and a lot easier to program . What surprised me though was the miniKORG 700S. A very nice sounding synth and with all the limitations of the original. The Tritons are also OK and although I always preferred the Roland romplers the cloud thing is not for me. Roland... I'll use HW. But for the classic Korg sound the emulations are fine.

  39. Love to see love for other drummers even while Neil is a legend. Especially a lot of names that are not always on the tip of everybody's tongue like Jim Keltner, Manu Katché, and others. There are also some more "hired guns" like Paul McCartney's current touring drummer Abe Laboriel Jr (also did a ton of tours with Sting, Seal, and others) who deserve more attention.

  41. Very likeable, and nicely put together Steve . . . great sounds and melody themes, intertwines with the video images very well . . . and the causality of it all has lead to this mind expanding Cakewalk thread, where many have commented on universal existence. All I can add is that I don't believe we are dust in the wind, perhaps microscopic pebbles on an ever moving beach, where illusions and reality co-exist at the same time, in an infinite array of moments.

  42. I simply will NOT buy this. I don't need this. Since I already bought it back in the day. Probably paid $49 for it unless it was on sale for $39 (par for the time).

  45. Very pleasant, even without the cosmic theme. My favorite part was the mix on instruments you had going beginning at the :35 area. You could throw in some spoken word gems from N.D. Tyson or Carl Sagan? cheers, -Tom

  46. There's a downside to disabling the zero-controllers option, which is why it's an option in the first place. Weird stuff can happen if you don't zero controllers when playback stops, such as restarting playback and the sustain pedal is stuck down (resulting in stuck notes), or an instrument playing out of tune because of where the pitch wheel was last set. For this reason, I combat the Kontakt modwheel problem using msmcleod's method of inserting a CC1 event at the start of the track. It's a small bother, but the problem mostly affects orchestral libraries that I'm probably going to add CC1 events to anyway.
