The Cali Coast trip was AMAZING! What a beautiful world the Lord has made! I sailed up the coast from LA to Vancouver, visiting Santa Barbara, Montecito, San Francisco, Astoria, Victoria B.C., and Vancouver B.C., then took the Amtrak Cascades from Vancouver to Seattle and did some sightseeing! I visited the Space Needle, Chihuly Glass Museum, Museum of Pop Culture, Seattle Aquarium, Pike Place Market, and LOTS of photos... MoPop had a LOT of celebrity Guitars and memorabilia, and even the Console owned by Hendrix. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.25932716416319432&type=38 points

Works on Originals, though, which isn't always the case in more general Spitfire sales. Epic Choir is now mine!5 points

SUCCESS! The package got delivered, albeit left at an unused door. I only found out it was there by checking the tracking page, which said it had been delivered. While walking around the house looking for it, had fingers crossed that it had actually been delivered to the correct address. It was, and the box was mostly undamaged. Nothing like a new toy to take the edge off one's fury.4 points

Let's see if this one gets yanked .... I don't remember if I told this story here before or not. Sorry, I'm getting older. Memory going. I was at dunkin' across town one morning getting a coffee. The F. driver was there in front of me ordering breakfast. She was wearing spandex and I happened to notice she had a severe wardrobe malfunction and no undergarments on her back side. I stood there behind her looking up at the ceiling, down at the floor, looking at the guy to the right me who was smiling, at the lady to the left of me shooting daggers at both of us. I contemplated saying something to her but I figured I hadn't better. Might get accused of something and end up in a paddywagon. I got my order before her and was sitting in my truck which was parked right next to her box delivery truck. Hah! Sorry, so she walks by and smiles and climbs up those metal grate steps in to the truck and I'm trying my darndest not to look. Due to the height of the steps, her gape, and amount of spandex tearing and location, you could see everything. I called my fiance and told her and she said I probably did the right thing by not saying anything. I go back across town to our apartment and son of a gun if the delivery girl didn't pull in behind me. I asked my better half to please go say something to her so she did. She comes back and tells me that the driver knew and she didn't care. We just shook our heads and walked away You could see everything, especially when she stepped up in to the truck, and she didn't care. There. Censor Dat! True story.3 points

Hi We just launched the sixth track off our Kiss of Storms album. It’s called Consternation. Sorry about the age restriction issue - YouTube got all uptight about something once again but I honestly could not be bothered to fight them yet again - I think my next song should be about censorship in the 2020's!!!! If anyone spots something in the Video that they think could be the reason why Youtube age restricted the video and also blocked comments, I would love to know. Anyway, I hope you are all old enough to watch it 😎 and I Hope you enjoy it. You can see the lyrics here https://devinelie.com/kiss-of-storms/consternation/ And the whole album is available on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/album/27iKYYjlWOT2Ku0ltzSEKB We’ve updated our website as well – we’ve got our own store now where you can get music and merchandise!! https://devinelie.com2 points

So....every other month it drops down to $69? SampleTank 5 must be on its way soon. It's a great package, I snagged it for $49 using Jam Points, direct from IK. Yes, it includes a lot of duplicate stuff you don't need, but that's because it covers so much ground. You don't have to install everything. SampleTron 2 and Syntronik 2 alone are worth the ticket price. Miroslav Philharmonik 2 is also of value to anyone who wants to get started with orchestral stuff. A buddy of mine snagged it just to get Neil Peart Drums. Miroslav was the primary target for me, but the hidden gem was SampleTron. If you've ever wanted to play around with the oddball libraries that most 'tron clones omit, they're here, lo-fi sfx and all. Also, to my delight, a vast Optigan library, including some great lo-fi loops.2 points

Seriously, the place is legendary in these parts. And Alameda itself is worth a little detour. People pass it by because it's not next to a freeway, we're a small town on our own island. I will have moved by the time you make it back, but for future reference: https://www.oleswaffleshop.com/2 points

Don't overlook the ability to render at the existing tempo, then bring the file into Sonar to create tempo changes that help the song "breathe." I did an analysis of several songs' tempo in Sonar, the results are pretty revealing. Please circle back if you need more info on this.2 points

Thanks for the reminder about using saturation to tame highs.2 points

I did a project in V10 last night where I imported 20 tracks recorded on our band's Soundcraft Ui24R. I used the new (introduced in 9.2) Grid Mode to slide the beat/bar lines onto the kick drum transients to line up the tempo map with the actual performance. It was a breeze and you can do it while the music is playing. I used the new UI "flat" buttons to add even more clarity on my $220 4K Vizio 40" TV I'm using as a display. It did crash on me once when I was adjusting the colors of the grid lines but otherwise performance of the DAW was very good.2 points

I would categorise that preamp as „fairly nice“ while BinAmp is world class. So you need both, clearly!2 points

I like the Pulsar Echorec. You can turn off the effect and just use the preamp.2 points

One of the best saturations to tame highs. Makes its way onto 50% of master busses and like 100% of overheads. Highly recommended!2 points

First impressions: it’s another thing that goes SWOooOooOoOooOOoSH, has limited MPE capabilities and doesn’t get anywhere near Generate in sound or function, just like the other Dawesome synths. Not sure why I keep buying them because I could have stopped with Abyss and wouldn’t have missed out on much at all.2 points

^^^^ This one is massive from my perspective. Pretty much everything I am incredibly passionate about I have kept in the "hobby" bucket for the simple reason that I can do what I want, when I want, how I want, and if I don't want, that is perfectly okay too. It is very important to keep in mind what variables are in play and which ones impact the "fun factor" adversely. Hobbies are for fun, so definitely keep that part (i.e., "I loved making music"), but don't feel the least bit bad about kicking the things that make it not fun to the curb and walking away from those aspects.2 points

I make my living doing music, and nothing but music. That involves compromises, what to play, where to play, and so on. But to me, the ultimate compromise is to take a 5-day, 40 hour, proletarian, wage-slave job so I can play 'art music'. I can do commercial gigs, and still play 'art music' on the side. And I really enjoy the gigs, too. Notes ♫1 point

I used the support site at Harrison and asked about the $29 update they used to offer to update from Mixbus 9 to 10. Nathan responded with an email confirming that the $29 update is still alive and well for the $129 version if you are a longtime user! This version doesn't include the channel gates., atmos, or the xtc plugins but I already have thousands of vsts anyway. There was a coupon code in the email to be used at checkout. The location of the license was pretty confusing but I finally got it.1 point

Yup, that's the magic word. I'm OK with it if it's in the name of quashing spam. I hate spammers far more than I hate, um, you-know-who.1 point

one of my favorites as a kid (14?) was to take an old single tube photo preamp (from my old non-turning portable record player) and just plug the guitar straight in and then output to the amp (whatever one tube or solid state never really mattered at the time) - using the volume control to get just ther right distortion - from just light distort to that "modern" metal screaming distortion! the key was to add a volume pot in front of the input to limit the guitar level and a 10K resistor in series for the input load.1 point

Steve - Really well-done. Nice mix. Clearly a lot of good sounding pieces went into this. Just curious - how long did this take you from start to finish?1 point

As a plugged-in member I gave them $9/mo ($108/yr) and typically got 1-2 new plugins per year (call it $50 total value) and the latest Mixbus and Mixbus32C free from v4 through v10 for free. Now I join the ranks of just paying for MIxbus Pro version updates as I am on the SSL subscription, which includes all Harrison and Slate plugins. I'm sure they up the sub price one day (I venture to say it will happen in 2025) but for now I pay the $14.99/mo that I was originally paying for only the Slate sub.1 point

Yep, it's 3.10.3 here. I decided to try to update some products for the first time in months and it's been hours and hours with NA and my Task Manager Open to try to see what is happening. (yes, I've been working on other things while it runs). Some have been updated, but Komplete Kontrol has been a mess to try to update. I now cannot get it to get past the "Loading Products" prompt when I log in. However, sometimes when I start it, it goes straight to my products without any issue. Why the different responses? I have no idea. I could have downloaded and installed all these products in 1/10th the time if I had access to the downloads. The biggest issue is that you have no idea what's going on when it's running. There are no messages. It could be hung-up indefinitely or it might actually just be taking this long to install one item. There's no way to know. So, do I wait for the "Loading Products" prompt to finish or should I end the task and retry it? I don't know. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you one of the biggest players in the software game. If you're exclusively using virtual instruments, samples, and loops to create your music then, no, you don't even need an external interface. WASAPI Exclusive will get you decently low latency and good sound with just your system's built-in audio CODEC (invariably Realtek, they seem to have the market for onboard hardware audio CODEC's completely monopolized). I don't know what the problem is with getting an ASIO driver for Realtek's CODEC's. There's nothing inherently wrong with the hardware, it's even capable of doing 192K/32, 7.1 channel, S/PDIF (if the board manufacturer implements those things) but that lack of an ASIO driver is a big deal for audio work. Why no programmer has come up with one is a mystery. Realtek shipped one for a while, but it was so buggy they pulled it.1 point
