  2. I recommend stuff that is on sale on Best Service right now and either a) exclusive to BS or b) usually blocked from further discounts on other stores e.g. - Cinesamples (Piano in Blue, Forbes Organ... almost everything is excellent) - Have Audio (Nordisk Cello and Nordic Kontrabass, can't really recommend anything else) - MNTRA Instruments - Output - Soniccouture (Broken Wurli, All Saints Organ, anything really) Possibly others but this is stuff I bought or is on my wishlist.

  4. Ext.Har stands for extended harmonics – a new free library made from two natural viola harmonics, sourced from the Iremia sessions. This is old school sampling at its best, taking a single sample and stretching it across the keyboard, except here you actually get two samples, so you can seamlessly morph from one to the other. It sounds distinctive, different, a little bit Nordic and somewhere between a flute, an organ and a cello. And it’s free… It's available from the front-page of the website, where's there's a short walkthrough video, in which I also talk about why these samples never made it into Iremia, demonstrate the difference between artificial and natural harmonics, and complain about the weather in Denmark...it's all good fun! https://payhip.com/b/HOR8r

  9. Now is the time to upgrade They do it every year at this time. Each of my upgrades was from the free version that came with Sonar Platinum. It’s always $99. So I’m into it for $300( $400?) now and have Studio.

  10. Jeez, talking about kicking a man when he's down. I might have to put myself into a chemically induced coma to resist the temptation. The problem is that I only have Guinness Zero in the house and the only way that is going to put me under is if I drop a crate of it on my head.

  11. Here's an old article written by one of our own bakers; https://noelborthwick.com/2017/04/20/wireless-audio-and-midi-in-sonar/ It gets pretty deep into the weeds, but may supply some information for you. It appears as though UWP was built mostly to bridge Bluetooth devices to the Win kernal so that they could be used in a DAW as a native device. MME is legacy, but if your MIDI devices operate correctly using it, then don't worry too much.

  12. These screenshots clearly show that your MIDI driver is set to MME, and your Audio Driver is using ASIO. They are two completely different things. Nothing to worry about.

  14. Have been chipping away at Time Micro / Macro. But Salu has been on my list since it was released. Very much considering the quartet, dreamstate, evolving and the other sound design-ish patches. Such a gorgeous sounding library. Just not sure what to get first. Picked up the entire Ark series (0-5) during 2022 sales season, and Sine player still hasn't grown on me. But for the sound of these libraries, it's worth the headache.

  16. I used to do what you are doing. I don’t look at the meter I use the peak and hold numbers. I worked in small sections which more or less are one line of the lyrics. I have the G shortcut key to open the Gain dialogue. I would drag over the quiet parts and add a few db of gain. Play the part and observe the meter peaks. It was more of a visual editing process looking at the waveform to find quiet parts as well as listening to understanding the lyrics in the mix. When done I would print the track by exporting it, then I learned about bouncing to clip. This was a lot of work! Now it’s easy. I discovered a levelling tool in Melodyne which is brilliant and became part of my new workflow. It has 2 sliders one to bring up quiet parts and then one to lower the loud parts. It’s percentage based and I’m using around 70% on each. The results are I can toss the compressor and limiter in the trash bin. Well. I still use them as watchdogs. Im not sure at what version level of Melodyne this is included as I had it in the Editor version and I just upgraded to Studio. It’s on sale for a few more days if you need to upgrade. Best $99 I ever spent. And now I can work on harmonies all in one view. So all the tools you need to work on vocals are right there just like you’re working with midi in PRV. If used correctly there’s no noticeable artifacts.

  21. Submit a ticket to NI Support and request that they send you a link to direct download the ISO. You could also search the NI forum, as a lot of K13/14 installers have been posted for folks who have slow/underperforming ISP's. Personally, I completely gave up on NI about a year ago. Their development direction sux.

  26. It sounds like every single intervention you have on this forum is to put someone down, or negatively comment, without any special reason, intention to help, actual interest in the problem, or info on the topic. It seems there's a lot of people with "seriously screwed up systems" on this forum, and the observation has already been answered. It doesn't help anybody if you always make it personal, about specific users, which seems to be your "style", and it certainly won't help Cwk.

  27. I said it myself, a few days after the announcement was made that I didn't think Cwk, as it stands today, was even remotely ready to be commercially released. And the thing is, if it fails for a second time, commercially, I think it might be the end of the road. So, hopefully the mystery is about fixing the hundreds of bugs and reliability problems it has - plus maybe a few dozens intuitiveness and ergonomic problems. Having newcomers that aren't as prone to finding excuses to it, no matter what, out of habit, sympathies or misunderstood gratitude, might be a good idea, in that regard. Cause one thing I've said from my early days with Cwk, about 4 years ago, was that the moment Cwk become a paid application, all that predisposition for lenience will vanish overnight - and it's not doing anybody any favors, as it exists today. I do believe people on this forum would be good testers, subjectivity aside, but, for one, I've signalled dozens of problems during these 4 years, and none of them seems to have been addressed. Some suggestions did make it, though, and I appreciate that. I still have about 30-40 pretty big issues captured, right now, which I'm not putting out because it would take a lot of time, to very little hope. For instance I can't trust Cwk with my audio clips. I don't think there's worse you can say about a professional DAW. And it crashes a few to a few dozen times a night, for the most diverse reasons. It can't find, now, plugins it had loaded 5 minutes before. It handles RAM and registry entries badly, and there always seems to be some conflict with the video side in the VC redists - to my very limited understanding of media frameworks. That's just counting a few issues. And I do like Cwk, don't get me wrong, I want to work in it - love the interface, the PC, what it can do, the sound, etc. - but objectively speaking. It's got a lot going for it, if the problems were solved, I think it would be stellar. But the problems are great, and have persisted for years. So... For a commercial release, i believe the most important factor, before any interesting functions, is that it be reliable, and work as intended - basics first - also consistent and intuitive - which it doesn't right now.

  28. I think I found the solution. It is about saving it as regular cwp file in a specific directory and then renaming it a cwt file. Create your project. Put your (any) icon in the notes for that project. Save it as a regular (normal) cwp file in the folder where project templates are kept ( ...\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Core\Project Templates\). Make sure to uncheck the boxes copy audio with all audio with project (so it doesn't create a subfolder). Then go to that project template folder and change the file extension to .cwt (if prompted re the change,,,click yes) and Voila! A Project Template with custom icon.

  35. Check out MIDI Guitar 2 by Jam Origin For it to work reliably, you'll need to set your sample rate to 48Khz and have an ASIO buffer of at least 128. Expect some latency when recording - especially with lower notes.

  37. I was an adjunct marketing advisor for NI in 2017/18 on the development of the S series Mk2 keyboards (before the Venture Capital buyout) and I could forsee then that they were about to completely diverge from the direction that was common amongst their users. Real pity, they were really a stong market leader for a decade. When I got the preview of LoRes, I thought it was grossly underwhelming for a 70Gb library.

  39. Numeric Peak indicators hold whatever peak level is reached until they're reset or playback is restarted. If you're looking at the same track in the TV and CV, and only starting/stopping playback with no other change in the project state, it's hard to imagine how they would get out of sync. But if any sends or buses are involved, switching mute/solo/send/interleave states or gain/volume during playback could get things out of sync depending on the routing. Arming a track or otherwise changing where the meter is picking up the signal (i.e. pre/post-fader) can also produce unexpected results. Regarding the change in metering overnight, I would be inclined to think you were simply mistaken about the state of the project when you saved iand/or what you were looking at, and what you're seeing now is accurately reflecting the current stae of the bounced audio and metering settings But it's also possible that some FX plugin was reset to initial conditions on being reloaded and isn't producing the same result it was before because it's not linear phase or something like that. You might get a better idea of what happened by importing the three generations of clips (as-recorded, after applying gain, after bouncing together) from the audio folder into separate tracks of a new project and seeing how they compare. This is a case where the problem would need to be captured on video or by sharing steps to reproduce it in a new project in order to fully understand what's happening. All I know is that just about every time I've encountered a situation in which levels were unexpected, it turned out I was misunderstanding something about the routing or looking at the wrong meter. It happens easily.

  42. My main DAW is a desktop with a decent interface. However, there was a time where I would use my laptop to compose on during dead time, where I dropped one kid off at an activity and it's not worth it to do anything else but kill some time at a coffee shop. In these cases I might not have wanted to lug around a spare interface and didn't have a ton of USB slots to spare. On top of that I wouldn't want to bring my guitar with me and I doubt anyone in the coffee shop wanted me to sing, giving me no reason to need audio input. In that case ASIO4ALL was a perfect solution.

  43. They ARE on fire, but when you choose to ignore it I guess you can invent a parallel reality designed just to contradict. Not to mention a lot more people would probably come up, if it weren't for individuals just like yourself, and if they thought their input actually solved anything. Anyway, thanks for your guessing intervention with no accuracy, intention to help, or info on the matter whatsoever, for the exclusive purpose of invalidating other people's experience. I guess people should return the favor sometime, it would be just fair. Since it appears it's ALL you do.

  46. Yes, I applaud NI for this unusually worthwhile voucher. Most of them in the past could not be applied to upgrades, but this one can. It enabled me to upgrade from the Stradivarius Violin (which I had as part of Komplete 14U) to the full Cremona quartet for US $49.50.
