  1. NI are offering large discounts across the board. Juat picked up K14U update for £120 ! Some independant VI have been slashed along with keyboards. https://www.native-instruments.com/en/

  2. Good Grief that was a wild ride. I think NI will honour their own software (I saved £60 more than the summer of sound sale on the update to K14U - Installed!). But third party items look a bit sticky particularly U-he stuff with regards to his statement. I was sorely tempted but stuck to the one purchase.

  3. I'd assume there's no way you'll end up without your money and without your product. Also the discount was ~67% which isn't that outrageous or a clear indication of a "pricing error". Quite often sales in the industry seem to be 50-75% easily. I also feel like that in EU pricing errors usually have to be really obvious, as there's many cases where the rulings have been in the customer's favor.

  7. Guys, let's keep this thread on topic with discussing any issues you have with this particular Early Access release. Any talk about future plans or price or anything outside of this particular release is only going to muddy up the thread. Please start a new thread in the main forum for anything outside of this.

  8. We're pleased to announce Early Access of 2023.09! This release is primarily a maintenance release and includes over 60 bug fixes for user reported issues. Please note: Version 2023.09 will likely be the last update to Cakewalk by BandLab (CbB). CbB will eventually be discontinued as future development and support will transition to the upcoming Cakewalk Sonar release. If you wish to continue to use CbB, you must update to the 2023.09 version when it is released to the public. Earlier versions will cease to activate in the future. Version 2023.09 currently does not support offline activation, so your computer must be online to activate it. If you have encountered any of these issues, please check out this release and and confirm that your issue is resolved before we release the official public version. Please note that Early Access installers are update installers, which only update from a specific version. To install the 2023.09 Early Access build, you must be on the latest public release of 2022.11 or later. Download Cakewalk 2023.09 EA installer There is no rollback installer for this version. If you haven't already done so, please read about the Early Access Program before participating. Please keep responses specific to problems or comments on this release. Unrelated bugs or feature requests should be posted in other threads or the feature request channel. Thanks again for your participation! 9. Apply "Fit Content" to all Take Lanes when invoked on main track. Currently Lanes must be opened and "fit" individually. Oddly, Take Lanes can have content fit independently while open but then revert to non-fit when closed.

  16. If you're not comfortable creating an .ins file from scratch in a text editor, it's still fairly straightforward to create your own .ins file via the UI. Here's an example I did a while back for a Yamaha piano:

  18. I think this has just been missed from the release notes. The fix was done in the Sonar code in Feb, and applied to the CbB code back in April.

  19. VST scanner fails to register plugin when VST3 file is located in a folder by the same name. For example when someplugin.VST3 is located within a folder name someplugin.VST3 C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\VST3 └───F-em (64 bit).vst3 (directory) └───Contents ├───Resources └───x86_64-win ───F-em (64 bit).vst3 (file) Seeing more of this happening lately. I'm thinking that some programming SDK (maybe JUCE?) is creating that kind of folder structure when compiling a plugin and the developer instead of extracting only the VST3 is copying the whole folder structure (that includes the plugin) into their installer. While this is stupid - the issue with the VST scanner failing to register the plugin could probably be avoided if the scanner would verify that *.VST3 is a file and not a directory.

  20. Gibson is the company you have this beef with. Bandlab bought the code only, and hired the dev team that Gibson fired when they closed down the Cakewalk Inc company they purchased. Bandlab has nothing to do with this defunct company, other than buying the rights to the code. That Lifetime License died when Cakewalk Inc owned by Gibson did. We got 5 years of free use from the deal, and a product that allowed us to use the paid add ons that were locked to SONAR, and additionally as a courtesy we could even grab legacy products from the Bandlab servers, despite those things actually not being current Bandlab products. So it was a fairly good deal considering it could have gone away entirely when Gibson pulled the rug out. These new products, despite having similar names, are not the products that Gibson sold us. But they appear to have the same backwards compatibility and use of the stuff we bought from Gibson, now just all under a paid model from this new company who would probably prefer their developers could eat and the lights stayed on. Nobody knows the pricing structure for this stuff yet but it'll fail if it's not competitive - they know this. Let's wait and see what the future brings us. 5 years of having free use of a previously flagship priced product is a lot of goodwill from a new company that bailed out a dead product line.

Drink it up This ones for you It's been a lovely cruise I'm sorry it's ended It's sad but it's true It's been a lovely cruise These moments were left with May you always remember These moments are shared by few There's wind in our hair And there's water in our shoes It's been a lovely cruise These moments we're left with May you always remember These moments are shared by few And those harbor lights Aw they're coming into view We bid our farewell much too soon So drink it up This one's for you It's been a lovely cruise And it has.

  22. wow, this one was a tricky one to track down! Ok - here's the cause: You've got MIDI strips unchecked in the console view, but also you've got "Keep track/console visibility states in sync" checked: So on project load, it's syncing the hidden tracks in the console view with the Track View. To fix this: 1. Ensure MIDI is checked 2. Open the track manager from the console view, and unhide the tracks (with the sync still on). There have been some bug fixes in this area, as sync wasn't working properly... but this looks like a regression. We'll look into it further.

  23. i use the master as the feed to my monitors and i may move the volume up and down there. having a separate "print" with pre-fader send means even if i forget to reset the master to 0, the print output is set to 0 for the rendering. the print buss (and all others which might feed the main h/w out are set to "none" unless i'm specifically using them, in which case the master gets set to none and i set the other buss to the h/w output, or if i'm using a separate h/w for headphones (e.g.), then i just set the outs to those and leave as is, then use my monitor controller to mute the room monitors if i'm going to use the headphones. technically, if i wanted to just mute and unmute from the DAW, i'd have a "monitor" buss (another pre-fader send from master) for the room monitors so i can just mute and unmute rather than switch none or h/w out, but i just didn't want another buss... lol 🙂 DAW template - 01 - process.svg DAW template - 02 - mix.svg DAW template - 03 - workspace.svg

  25. No that's not what's being said. The authorization server has been upgraded to support the upcoming Sonar/Next releases. This is incompatible with the old authorization server. When their authorization period runs out, the CbB 2022.11 release (and all releases of CbB before it) will try to connect to a now defunct authorization server, so the authorization will fail. CbB 2023.09 does work with the new authorization server. So: - If you're using CbB 2022.11 or earlier, it'll continue to work until the authorization period runs out. - At that point, you'll need to upgrade to CbB 2023.09. Of course, when Sonar is released you can always get that too.

  31. Looking at the prices, many things were at historical lows and they were selling their top-end keyboards for ~400 euros (cheapest at the moment is 900-1000 euros), I'd say that's probably what it was. Really bummed out I wasn't fast enough to snatch a few more Kontakt libraries on the "cheap".

  33. I don't do any exporting shenanignans as it takes too much time, I just make sure I have enough different ways of referencing at my DAW so I can adjust in real time. From my seat I can switch between several physical options:- 1. Main Nearfields ( APS ) 2. Grotbox Speaker ( Avantone Mixcube - mono ) 3. Old Boombox ( some people use old computer speakers also ) This makes it much easier to triangulate the mix so I know it will translate well for broadcast. There are also plugins you can get that emulate the frequency response of different playback systems such as Micchecker Pro I also have Slate VSX which I got so I can mix late at night without disturbing the family , this does have an iPhone emulation in the latest v4 update but to be honest I didn't find it much help. Some of the other rooms are great though , and their SUV really tells you if you got the subs right. The other thing that makes a lot of difference is having reference tracks, I use Metric A/B so I can compare a level matched version of my mix against commercial mixes or reference tracks sent by the publisher.

  36. ...please .. stop with " cakealk is the best daw ... bla bla bla ..." cakewalk it's free !!! this is the reason why a lot of musician are landed on CbB ... there are a lot of " BEST DAW " outside there... but not free!! I paid the renewal & life time update and after 2 weeks gibson crashed ... with all my musician's dreams!!! now, said that ... I'll stay to see what will be the "competitive price" for SONAR ... and if with my old cakewalk account I'll be able to have a discount for new Sonar. soo, much appreciate this new update but I think i won't install it for now ... I trusted in a free version of cakewalk anyway just like "garageBand" but not a browser version ... waiting for a good news from the Cakewalk world ... cheers

  39. Nothing wrong with voicing an opinion or not agreeing with what a company is doing, of course! I don't think anyone would want to step on that right, even if it might not be what they want to hear necessarily. I don't think anyone here is going out of their way to crap on Cakewalk though, or there's any nefarious agenda trying to promote other products or anything. I don't reckon we'd be asked to step in on any kind of chats like this unless it was consistent and ongoing, and especially in the main CbB forum. I'm still wearing my mod n00b hat but I'm really not seeing anything here personally that's making me want to chat to the team about it.
