  1. https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2023/01/24/mindful-harmony/ https://www.mindfulharmony.app/ The app uses the circle of fifth as the basis for several features, which include: Making deliberate, purposeful modulations; Quickly finding available chords in a given scale; Experimenting with harmony and expanding your musical vocabulary. Mindful Harmony has piano, strings, guitar, and chip instruments available, and you can create chord progressions using the circle of fifth as a guide in the interface. The app is fairly straightforward to use, and it offers different circles based on different scales as well as changing the chord extensions or voicings on the fly.

  16. I've tried letting it hang low like the cool kids but that doesn't work for me. I do seem to like the Les Paul a little bit lower. But these two pics taken + 20 years apart with the same guitar show that, overall, try as I might, I always revert to the same strap length.

  17. Kirchhoff-EQ has been updated to 1.6.2 from https://www.threebodytech.com/ the Plugin Alliance Version still on 1.6.0 New Features - New "Tight Mode + Adaptive Noise Shaping" mode producing clearer sound at low gain (approx. =1dB). Enable in Sound tab of the settings menu. - Ability to select left/right/middle/side channel as the sidechain for detect/relative in dynamic mode. Optimizations - The inactive knobs of the current filter type would be grayed out. - Sharper Q value of monitoring. - Slightly improved GUI rendering speed. - Improved stability in native ARM64 Logic Pro. - Show CPU type in about page to distinguish native/rosetta translated version more easily. Bug Fixes - Fixed the issue that certain parameters does not respond to DAW's automation. - Fixed occasional high CPU consumption in audio thread. - Fixed incorrect panel backgrounds. - Fixed the issue that manually typed output gain and pan value cannot be correctly applied. - Fixed the issue that copied band cannot be correctly pasted on certain devices. - Fixed the issue that minus values cannot be typed into certain text boxes. - Fixed default path for background image customization on Mac. - Fixed improper popup window in Ableton Live that causes missing plugin. - Make Q change by mouse dragging behaves same with by mouse wheel.

  19. https://forum.ircam.fr/projects/detail/asap/ https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2023/01/24/arcam-asap/ The ASAP plugins set contains: • Spectral Remix [Free]: The plug-in allows you to control the balance of the harmonic, noise, and attack components of the sound. Beyond many original approaches, the plug-in can be used to highlight or hide certain audio elements and characteristics such as background noise, vocals, percussive sounds, and so on. • Spectral Crossing [Premium]: The plug-in allows you to cross the amplitudes and frequencies of a source sound and of a side-chain sound to generate a hybrid sound. The plug-in can be used to creatively interpolate and transform one sound into another by gradually mixing the phase and amplitude components of the two audio signals. • Spectral Morphing [Premium]: The plug-in allows you to apply the spectral characteristics of a side-chain sound to a source sound in order to transform its timbre. By using a voice sound as the side-chain on an instrument sound as the source, spectral morphing can be used to make the instrument speak. • Spectral Clipping [Free]: The plug-in allows you to expand and compress the energy of spectral components within a range of thresholds. It can be used to silent low-level sounds such as background noise or to limit high energy peaks such as high-pitched bird calls. • Formant Shaping [Premium]: The plug-in allows you to modify the vowels and play with the formant resonances of the sound. It can be used to change spoken vowels of a voice or to vocalize instruments such as a drum set. • Spectral Surface [Premium]: The plug-in allows you to draw shape filters on the sound spectrogram and to control their gain and the fades. The sound representation and the effect interface, made possible thanks to the ARA 2 plug-in extension, allow the creation of very complex and precise surface filters to reduce or increase specific parts of the spectral components of the sound. The plug-in can be used to compensate for annoying artifacts in the sound as well as to transform the sound creatively.

  21. 2 Filter Operators. [Edit] details from the user guide: 5.7 Filter 1 and 2 On this page, you find the filter and drive controls. To open this page, click on the F1 or F2 selection field in the left section. Each Layer features 2 filters with drive. As for the Operators, the Filters features hardwired modulations sources as a Cutoff LFO, a Level LFO, a Cutoff Envelope and Level Scaling and finally a Level Envelope. To hear the effect of a filter and the drive parameter, you need to route an operator/noise generator/sample oscillator signal through the corresponding filter. This needs to be done in the FM Matrix. A filter is used in synthesizers to attenuate or emphasize certain frequency ranges of a source signal. Most filter types consist of a pass and a stop band, some have two pass or two stop bands. The pass band is the frequency range where the input signal can pass (almost) unaffected, the stop band is the frequency range that is attenuated, sometimes fully. F-em offers various Filter types abbreviated LP, BP, HP or BS, followed by a number denoting the slope in decibel per octave. F-em offers two filter stages that are arranged in serial wiring.

  28. I played in a band with a drummer who could sing. Since I play drums, I used to sit at the kit and let him get out front to sing. I also doubled on rhythm guitar, bass or keyboards when the songwriter committed the mortal sin of not having a sax solo in the song. Switching instruments is good 'show biz' for the audience. As long as what I did didn't exceed my current skills, I could pull it off quite well. Notes ♫

  40. My primary instrument is the guitar and I'm opening TONEX more than any other amp sim (and I own AT5 - pretty much everything, Plugin Alliance - everything other than the older ENGL and Mesa, Nembrini (most of them), Electrum, Melda Trubo Amp, etc) I do use 3rd party IRs with it (sounds better if you add them in something like Melda's Convolution or Cab plugin) instead of internal. The feel/response and realism I find to be more authentic and dynamic than the alternatives. However, you don't have much natural adjustablity range as the controls (gain, tone, etc) do not reflect what the actual amp does. It is also low on the CPU compared to other options on the market and that helps become a go-to as well. Usually most modelers sound like some ideal version of an amp - there is something about the rawness of the way the resulting profile comes out that just feels more "real" on some level. While it still doesn't respond to volume and tone pot adjustments like the best amps do, I find it does get closer. Many of these differences come down to feel and interaction so some of the elements wouldn't really matter to a non-guitarist. I haven't used many guitar sample packs or synths of electric guitar - in my hands they just don't convince me, but I've heard others get pretty good results. It is also one of the only platforms that seems to keep giving us more sounds and tone - so it becomes as discovery and sound exploration, like trying out a new amp every day.

  42. Hmm, that sound like an illness to me. "The girl with Sonitus goes by." 😂 I pronounce the name as SAW-nih-tus. Sorta Latin. I guess it could also be SO-nih-tus. Or SON-it-us, as in "we have met the enemy, and son, it us." Mutual, John. Means a lot. Your hiatus was a blip. I noticed that you'd been quiet, but figured that you'd be back. My hope is that even with the ebb of participation in online forums, the information that we provide will be of use to people doing Google searches. I know that the old, archived forum is still helpful to me at times in this way.

  44. Thanks for the well-wishes Zip. Fortunately, we are both still in good health, but like I said, you never know. One instant you could be fine and a short second later, not. Life goes on and we have to meet the challenges and keep on keepin' on. I, too, have a life policy to take care of Mrs. Notes if I go first. Plus the mortgage is paid off, county taxes are low, and in FL the "Save Our Homes" only allows the gov't to raise the taxes 3% per year (which they do every year). Yes, I'm a Florida guy. I grew up in Pompano Beach, just north of Fort Lauderdale, and when I turned 18, I played from Palm Beach to Miami. We also did a house gig in Fort Meyers for the better part of a year. The Rendezvous Lounge, which was downtown, and is no longer there. We rented a house, and would drive back to Ft. Lauderdale once a week to collect the mail. Then we went on the road, college bars, singles bars, show clubs, eventually being the opening act for major stars in concert, and then losing a record deal over money (they wanted to ***** us). That broke the band up, I played locally in Michigan for a while, then returned to Florida. Mrs. Notes and I did cruise ships for 3 summers while working South Florida for the tourist season until we got a reputation. That was enough to keep us booked year around after we jumped ship. I moved up the coast north of Palm Beach, and now gig in the tri-county area; Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River. This area worked out well for us. We were just another nice fish in a big pond in Ft. L, and it took aggressive marketing to stay booked. Up here we are a big fish in a small pond, and we have so much repeat business, that other than our website and an e-mail mailing list, I don't do any serious marketing at all. The tragedy of life is that it ends. So we have to get as much enjoyment out of each day while we are here. Sometimes that's very difficult, but we need to bounce back. Notes ♫
