  6. Focusrite Scarlett has a very good factory ASIO driver. I rely on it daily! đź‘Ť Since you already have the Scarlett Solo, just download the latest drivers from the Focusrite site, and you are good to go!

  7. ASIO4All is not an ASIO driver. It is a wrapper for WDM drivers intended for use with programs that require ASIO. CbB does not require ASIO, it can use WASAPI and WDM drivers directly. When most users recommend using ASIO, they are not talking about ASIO4All. They are referring to a manufacturer supplied ASIO driver for the audio interface, As a rule, a manufacturer supplied ASIO driver performs better than Windows drivers (WASAPI and WDM). The exception being Realtek. Their ASIO driver is not very good. When using the internal sound chip on Win10, WASAPI is the best choice. When using an audio interface designed for DAW use, the first choice is the manufacturers ASIO driver. If the manufacture does not supply an ASIO driver or if they use ASIO4All, avoid the interface. Focusrite supplies ASIO drivers for their interfaces.

  12. Don’t feel so bad I’ve had Cakewalk videos posted for more than 3 years now an I only have about 60 subscriptions. If you look at you stats you can see that a lot of people will not watch a video all the way through. That tells me I didn’t hold their interest. Also it’s all about being the channel that shows up when someone does a search for “Cakewalk how to do x” My website is a Google site but Google can’t even find it. And not many people are coming here to this sub forum. If they were there would be almost nothing posted on Questions and Answers I started making my videos because I got tired of repeating the same answers over and over again on the forum. Now I just post the link and most times I get a positive response. But it good weather now so no time for indoor hobbies now.

  13. We've recently added a "Create Arrangement from Selection" option to the Arrangements context menu. It just missed the 2021.04 release, but will be available in the next release. With this you can select a subset of arrangement sections and create a new / temporary arrangement from the selection. This will allow you what you're asking. It's also useful if want to loop a subset of arrangement sections.

  25. I'm not convinced changing the arranger font size is the best solution for this. I too used to use the sections for at least the first line of the lyrics as a reminder, but nowadays I use Melda Productions' MNotepad which comes with their free fx bundle: 1. Put Melda Productions' MNotepad into your Master effects bin (or the metronome fx bin if you feel this is more appropriate) 2. Hide the Keyboard within MNotepad 3. Copy your lyrics from wherever you have them (e.g. Notepad) to the clipboard (CTRL + C) 4. Click the Edit button on MNotepad and paste in your lyrics (CTRL + V) 5. Press the Close button on MNotepad's Edit dialog 6. Change the font to a large one, e.g. Large 3 7. Dock MNotepad in the MultiDock, and resize the multidock if required 8. Create a new automation lane on Master, assigning it to MNotepad's "Scroll" parameter 9. Using the Arranger Inspector for navigation, add automation nodes at the various lyric sections 10. Change all the envelopes to "Jump" shapes 11. Using the Arranger Inspector for navigation, click on each section and move the automation node so it shows the correct lyric at the beginning of each section TIP: You can put this specific layout in its own screenset, so it doesn't restrict you resizing the multidock in other screensets for other operations.

  28. I did not listen to either but I did drop them in to Youlean they are both way to hot. As they are MP3 they should not be higher the -1.0dB and no higher the -14LUFS if you intend to send them to streaming sites as they will be crushed. If you must insist on using something like LANDR try their lowest setting. Personally I think you need to stop using a computer AI program to master your songs and realise that Mastering is not about finishing your songs at all. Mastering is about preparing your music for certain medium types, i.e. Vinyl, CD, MP3 FLAC, DVD, Blue Ray. You need to get a near perfect mix, use tools like SPAN and Youlean Pro to set levels I do believe that iZotope are currently giving away Ozone Elements 9 for free. Get that and use it. It allows for you to set a target level like 14LUFS. From there you can learn to use EQ, Compression ot Limiters to finalise your own stuff.

  29. Hi Chaps , here´s a demo not quite ready for mixdown but ready enough for critique and constructive input , its a song inspired by a netflix documentary of the town ``Flint Michigen´´ it was concieved way before the BLM movement - campagne so I´m not trying to jump on any political bandwagon , this is something different for me so ..erm give it a go ..its a fictional story of good people trying to do their best ......... cheers paul

  31. So I played with it for a bit, though I couldn't load any of the HO Diamond instruments. The UI is slightly nicer (but the instruments own UI are the same) and resizable. But the engine part doesn't appear to be any better at handling the very difficult balance between loading everything into ram and streaming from disc. Something other samplers seem to be much better at than EW. Play 4 didn't have problems but starting with Play 5 it's mostly been a "oh sorry I'm cutting that note off and not playing the release sample". Opus doesn't seem any better in that regard, at least not with older libraries I tried. This did let me kick the tires though and unless they reprice the HO Diamond Opus upgrade to something in the sub $250 range I don't see me ever bothering to upgrade. The technical chops just aren't there.

  35. Take a look a Melda's MDrumEnhancer. Rather than totally replacing the drums with samples, it "enhances" them with samples. A hardware alternative would be to get hold of an old Alesis D4 or DM5 module. The 12 trigger inputs are extremely configurable, to the point that you could use your existing drum mics as triggers ( with full velocity sensitivity), and mix the Alesis drum samples in with the live signal. They usually go for around $150 on eBay.

  36. Price is crazy, but I like that there are new amps being coded. No one complains that there are too many Marshall emulations. There are WAY too few bass amp sims. I did an exhaustive comparison between most of the ones available and, although there are some great sounding ones, the ONLY one that actually felt like playing a real amp was the Softube Eden emulation. The sound quality is way better than anything else I tried. There's just way more options for guitar. Edit: If you want some great bass tones, use Airwindows BassDrive in front of the amp sim. INSANE tones.

  37. I'm afraid I have another never-ending question..... I uninstalled ASIO4ALL, and set the mode to WASAPI (closing down CW and re-starting it a couple of times). When I did that CW didn't seem to be able to see either my soundcard or my midi drumpad. But while I was trying to work that out, I discovered that I had mismatches of sampling rates all over the place. So I set them all to 44100. Then, on the fine scientific principle of changing only one thing at a time, I thought the best thing to do would be reinstall ASIO4ALL and see if the sampling rate thing had made any difference. So I reinstalled ASIO4ALL, restarted CW and...the mode is now ASIO (good) but the only input and output drivers listed under DEVICES are the mic and speakers of the laptop (with the name preceded by 'ASIO4ALL', which means CW knows that ASIO4ALL is back). The audio interface - the i02 Express - doesn't appear there at all. Which is inconvenient. However, CW does know the audiocard exists. because it appears (along with the USB drumpad) under the MIDI section in Preferences. I had this right before. I think it just worked it out itself. but maybe I did something useful that I now can't remember. What the hell was it? In my defence I'm a singer. I've spent the last forty years slouching on the sofa at studios saying 'yeah, closer, try again' to the guitarist and swigging down Sauvignon while advising the engineer to stay sober. Now my daughters want to record their stuff, and they've shifted a sofa and a wine cooler into my study, and they're watching me trying to figure this stuff out. Just to be clear - no mention of karma will be helpful at this point.

  43. It's strange that the Music Industry seems to be the only industry that has this bias against Windows. I've worked in a LOT of industries over the years - health, defence, hospitality, travel, retail, recruitment, law enforcement & security... I could go on... but in the vast majority of cases, it's Windows that is taken seriously, and the Mac is seen as being largely irrelevant and at most an afterthought. I've not worked in finance, but have plenty of friends who do, and it's the same there. The general consensus for most industries is Linux for servers, Windows for desktop, although Windows has a significant footprint in the server market too. Even a lot of parts of the media / design industries (e.g. video production, web design, architecture ), where the Mac has dominance, they at least put Windows and Mac on an even keel.

  44. I’ve been converting real bass tracks to midi for a long time now. You could even do this with Home Studio. So it’s been built in to the core program I think since X3 The process seems to work much better in the last few years for me and now with M5 it asks you which algorithm you want to use before proceeding. There’s always some editing to do but much faster way to create a realistic midi track than standard keyboard entry if you’re not an ace keyboard player.
