  5. When I think of all the "free" stuff I've downloaded over the years, I know that some of these libraries were a lot of gigabytes. So I wonder if I had to buy an SSD just to house them. And they were a lot more expensive in those days. "Free" is only $100 a TB nowadays. 😃

  6. Huh, I wasn't even aware that MSoundFactory had an LE and Player versions. That's doing it right, a $99 LE version for people who don't need/want to dive into all of the features of the monster that is MSoundFactory. IMO, that's the missing piece in the Kontakt line. Right now I'm still enjoying my subscription to EVERYTHING. Which, truth be told, is confirming my buying choices. The other Meldaproduction plug-ins have been fun to play with, but there's nothing I really need to do a mix with that I don't already have.

  14. Melda is doing right by their users once again. Honestly, MSoundFactory had no appeal to me because I still find the Melda UIs a little counter-intuitive sometimes. And MSF is a few steps up from that! But the LE and Player versions are right down my alley - pre-made instruments that you can try out without having to design them yourself. And guys are making NEW ones all the time. Whether or not they'll be made available to the lesser versions remains to be seen. I really need to dig into the FREE subscription next month before it times out and play with these things to see which other Melda plugins I'll add to my "want" list.

  19. The MDrummer Electronic Genres was new (to me) and I just happened to check on More Details->Installation Notes and was surprised that it says it also plays on the SoundFactory Player (or MDrummer). I just drilled into ALL of the MDrummer packs and they ALL say they play in the SoundFactory Player, so there is roughly 22GB of nice drum samples available now to anyone. I would test that before jumping into the Studio Pack downloads (20GB) with the smallest one first (i.e., the MDrummer Electronic Genres (500MB) to see if that is accurate. The Studio Pack for 2018 was incredibly impressive (and big, 14GB IIRC), but seems is available to anyone now. If so, great "deal." If someone tries it, please let others know if it works or not. I need to delve into MSoundFactory again... I didn't realize you could set up your own instuments similar to Kontakt until I saw a comment on that fly by. After seeing the thread where the guy made a choir of his family, I want to see how "choir capable" MSoundFactory is in this regard.

  27. In the screenshot it is the Event Inspector that incorrectly identifies the note as Eb1. The Staff View is displaying the note properly. I can replicate this. Apparently the PRV doesn't respect the Key Signature. With Key sig set to E (4 sharps) the PRV names D# as Eb. It is the PRV that is incorrect not the Staff View.

  28. And why I have the majority of my stuff still on spinning drives. Only the "good" libraries that I use and really need SSD to run make it to the SSD drives. Though it is getting harder to find 7200 RPM drives over 2 TB. Though every time I see a really good sale on an SSD, I try to pick one up. I do get what you are saying. I was a lot more picky when I had money problems. I don't think you should be going crazy buying when you have to decide between a library and eating. Or paying your electric bill. Contributing to an IRA or 401K is also important. But if it is between a library and taking peanut butter sandwiches to work instead of eating lunch out? Or hitting Starbucks twice a day for a $4 latte? That's okay. You choose your priorities. But Reid is right. Buying a lot but never using them doesn't really make sense. I usually have a monthly experiment going. I try to use libraries I don't normally use. Most of my experiments never get finished because the libraries don't quite mesh or I am still learning how to write music. But I do have fun and learn things. And? If you really have GAS? There are a lot of free, but good, libraries out there. But? If you have the money and it sounds good? Go for it! 8Dio does do good choir libraries. But they can be limited, so make sure it is what you want.

  31. I've been working out what works in the free player .... and I think you'll basically lose access to the drummer stuff. This seems to be only accessible via EDIT mode (not easy mode) and I think you lose access to this when your "demo" times out and MSoundFactory downgrades to the free version... that new Piano will continue to work however (I think!)

  32. But they are selling two Lindell plugins that are worth the sale price of $10. The 7X-500 (a 1176 comp emulation) has lots of character. Like this plugin. And PEX-500 (a Pultec EQ emulation) and this one is also a great little plugin with lots of sweet character.

  35. You'd think with all the claims they'd have a slew of audio demos showcasing it's great processing... but no. Doesn't mean that it's not good but there's a lot of cheaper competition out there for the moths in our wallets - for example Waves OVOX and iZotope VocalSynth. While it will probably be a bit pricey Zynaptiq's Orange Vocoder IV with Windows support (VST 2.4 & VST3 versions) is supposed to be coming out soon.

  37. LOL, I was wondering what the gripe was with them. That happened to me a while back so I sent them an email asking if there was middle ground between 5 dupes and nothing. Response was fix browser settings. Didn't work, but get a customer support survey I blew off. I got a laugh from a survey last month asking me why I haven't checked Dialog Match when I own RX7 Advanced. That got blown off too, and expired before I thought to respond "Because you self-terminated." Missed the boat on that dig. I do not chase people down to give them money EVER. Last upgrade train I had been on committed seppuku. Problem solved.

  38. Try to disable 'CorelUpdateHelperTask' and 'CorelUpdateHelperTaskCore' in Task Scheduler. I don’t know if this will help with PaintShop Pro (I don't have it), but I’ve had no problems with ads in Corel Pinnacle Studio after following the instructions linked in the following post.

  39. Under WASAPI with multiple stereo hardware outs there are 4 selectable options from 1/2 to 7/8. The simplest scenario for odd track template behavior is to create an Audio track with the primary out assigned to 1/2, insert a send assigned to 3/4, and save the track as a track template. In a fresh project insert the track template previously saved and the “send” is not present as saved, just the primary out. Further, if the previous assignments were 3/4 for the primary and 1/2 for the send, not only is the send eliminated on the track template insert, the primary defaults back to 1/2. Similarly, if multiple sends to hardware outs were inserted, they would be eliminated. If there’s a “master bus” already in the project with just a primary assigned to 1/2, I observed the template track primary defaulting to the “master bus”. The above is just one case of track template functionality not as you would expect. In the case were a track template ought to generate buses and these buses send to hardware outs, there are additional problems which arise, with the generated buses. This probably should be checked out. If bus and aux track generation is not guaranteed for a track template when not already present in a project this should clarified.

  43. Here's a tip: When you download a new release keep the backup files in the repository for a few weeks or so. There can be quite a few updates in the first month. ( I refer to AA's new releases as 'working betas' with us customers finding & reporting bugs) Since the main files are still in repository only the necessary files needed for the update (usually much smaller size) will be downloaded. If deleted Aquarius downloads the full file & as you know they can be several GB's. When the update cycle seems to quiet down then either purge them using Aquarius or by hand.

  45. I use AD2 and have quite a few of their kits. But I by no means have all of their kits. They have 21 complete kits!! I have five of them. That's more than enough for me. All are excellent. They have 32 midi packs! I have eight of those. They have 14 kit pieces. This is where I think they dropped the ball. This could have been something of a money stream for them. Spend about three-six months recording different kit pieces and release them over time. This also could have really set them apart from EZD2.
