  6. Meant to post this yesterday for those asking about disk space. Oh well may still be of use to someone. ...and yes I reckon Larry's hunch about TSM 3 is right..... I bought this at a great price in Nov 2018 but this is even cheaper and pretty much a no-brainer if you have the disk space. If you are wondering about disk space... I just checked my Total Studio 2 MAX backup and it's around 143.5Gb (zip files) consisting of Miroslav (51.5Gb), SampleTank 3 MAX (37.2Gb), Syntronik (48.3Gb), and the other bits and bobs are around 2.5Gb. My actual installation for SampleTank 3 MAX is 172Gb which includes Miroslav, Syntronik but only a few of the extra SampleTank 3 MAX content. The other bits take up less space - MODO, Lurssen, Amplitube MAX, T-Racks MAX (install around 4Gb). So total used in my case is 143.5Gb for backups and 176Gb installed (a full installation of all ST3 MAX libraries would be more than this but I don't need them all). If you then get Sampletank 4 MAX at some point which I did that's another 134Gb of zipped backups and 184Gb installed on my system. So TS2 MAX and ST4 MAX for me is around 360Gb installed and 277.5Gb in backups (without installing all of the extra ST3 MAX libraries). I ended up buying an NVME SSD to house all of the extra sample content plus all of my existing samples.

  8. MODO BASS is also on sale through the end of the month, in our Spring Strings sale, if that works out to a good deal based on your eligibility. Yes. The SampleTank 4 Editor is available to those who have SampleTank 4, SampleTank 4 SE, or SampleTank 4 MAX. Yes, SampleTank 4 SE is included. We had added that to the main graphic on the Total Studio 2 MAX page a while ago to indicate this. Thank you. Note that we are OK, even though our HQ is in Italy. Our staff are all healthy and our developers are toiling away from their homes working on our software. We should be able to reopen our warehouses and production lines (we manufacturer a lot of our hardware ourselves in Italy) to capacity soon too. We are still able to make and ship the products we have, though we also have the unexpected surge in interest in our streaming-friendly products like iRig Stream to make things challenging but we're glad we can help musicians keep working by doing their lessons, performances, etc online. It is more a Krazy Deal (but the name Total Studio Spectacular fit more) but I definitely have pushed that we should make sure we get on Total Studio 3 when we have enough to add to make it a great deal too. Yes, we're working on that and I can say it looks really great! While I hope it comes out soon, I don't know if it would be right after you are done. It will be a great help for everybody and as I said above it looks really great. For sure, I did reply above but wanted to reiterate that you're fine. Stay safe and positive and let's all push through this!

  9. I get people getting worried about updates esp with all the crazy stuff that has been happening with Window updates over the last year or so. However one sanity check to keep in mind is that this is DAW software not an operating system with a million components and dependencies. When we update there are typically very a few things installed. The app exe, a few dll's and perhaps some content like this time. Rolling back is very safe and painless since all its doing is reverting a few files on the system. In theory a user would be able to do it manually for most updates by just reverting the contents of the Cakewalk Core folder in Program files. i.e. its not something to worry about too much.

  10. Found a post by Funkybot over at VI Control. I'm not buying: "For me it's Cinesamples Abbey Road Classic Upright Pianos. There's probably no sample library I want more than these particular pianos (Mrs. Mills and Challen anyway) sampled well, but this isn't it. Problems with the library include: 1. Pianos are out of tune (I understand you don't want these perfectly in tune as the chorusing is part of the effect, but center frequencies are off) 2. Inconsistent sample start times. They kept some of the action noise at the start of each note, but the duration of the noise (pre-note) wildly varies from note to note so it just sounds sloppy and feel terrible to play. My guess? They didn't feel like editing each sample manually, so just loaded the recordings into a batch job, set a single volume threshold, then pressed the "Batch Process" button to automatically trim the samples and left it at that. 3. The biggest sin? The TERRIBLE velocity mapping and sample selection. These were just poorly sampled from the get-go by someone at Abbey Road (Cinesamples support confirmed that they did not make the samples), and Cinesamples put absolutely minimal effort into selecting good samples and mapping them for smooth playback. Every single key has the same number of velocity layers, that are distributed at the exact same velocities, indicating to me that the pianos were just put into some batch mapping program. So not only do you regularly trigger what's a poor sounding sample, they didn't do anything to smooth out the response. It doesn't have any of the piano-specific features you'd expect to see in a $200 library either. What does it do well? The pianos are THE exact piano sounds you hear on everything from The Beatles, and Zombies to Elliott Smith, which you just can't get from other libraries. And they offer a few microphone positions. But overall, I would not repurchase it. Wish someone who could do pianos well could work with Abbey Road to make a much better version of these instruments."

  11. I guess I need to give the back story again. I am a guitar player. Not a bass player. BassDaddy was given to me by my son. We love to go fishing for(wait for it) bass. Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass. I have a good amount of traits that disqualify me from being a bass player I don't drool when I smoked, I bought my own cigs I never tried to "gain access" to the singers girl friend I changed strings I do enjoy playing bass though. Iam looking forward to EZ Bass. Should be great for song writing and getting something down fast. I am saying $189.00 for the price. I think EZ Bass might give us a view of what's coming in EZ Keys 2, when ever that comes out. To sum it all up it's BassDaddy not BassDaddy

  12. looks great to me too wonder if they will backdate that kind of technology to easy keys - I'd love auto generated piano parts
    4 points
  13. I wasn't interested... until watching the video. I thought it was just auto-generated bass parts. The ability to drag drum/guitar parts into EZBass... is a whole different animal. For complex "tutti" type parts, that could save a lot of time/effort! Even if you prefer recording real electric bass, it would still be useful to (quickly) map out parts.

  14. Yep, been hoping for something like this for years. This looks great. I think they gonna want an arm and a leg for it too. Audio to midi conversion? They won't just give that away. I am thinking in the $300 price range. I think when EZD came out for the first time it was around $189 IIRC. Wonder when they will come out with the Alembic bass exp pack!!

  16. Biggest critic of IK around here is Larry himself. And you can see he's buying it. That ought to tell you something right there. And just to be sure I am clear, I respect Larry and his opinion. He has led me to some of the best deals I have ever got. And I am by no means alone in this opinion. Others here will back me up if you ask them. We call him the King around here! So he knows what he's talking about. : ) Now that that is out of the way. Sample Tank 3 is what you get with this. And also you can get ST4 CS which gives you the UI and engine of ST 4 to use all of your ST3 sounds with. Not a bad deal at all. There are not hardly any third party sounds that have come out (but that may change in the future) for ST3 or 4. So Kontakt has them beat there. But sound quality is up there with the best of any of them. And the sheer volume you get with this deal is really staggering. You get a lots of ST3 stuff, Syntronic stuff, and Miroslav stuff too! Throw in Modo bass and it's a no-brainer. But wait there is more!! Amplitube and T-Racks also comes with this!! Is this a great deal? It's a no-brainer!! Unless you have a serious beef with IK. And I can understand that. That's your choice. But to say it ain't a good deal?? Come on! Who you trying to fool!! edit: Just so I am clear, @Craig Fowler I am in agreement with you on it's a good deal.

  17. Wondering about the mic also as I have the one with the orange ring on the bottom too. Upgrade from 2.5 to 3 for $49 is a really decent upgrade price for loyal previous owners!! Thanks @Peter - IK Multimedia! You must have finally gotten through to them!! 🎉🎉🎉😀

  20. This is very tempting. I have an "assortment" of IK software. Recently went with Sampletank 4 Max, already have Amplitube and several of their packs. T-Racks basic version. Lurssen is something I wanted to try. I don't need it because I have plenty of mastering things already. Miroslav Philharmonic 2 is something I might use and only have what's included in ST MAX which isn't the full library. I like that this puts everything in one place and as cclarry said upgrades from then on will only be under that grand title. The only comparison I can think of is Komplete. Competes favorably with Komplete. You could call it the poor man's Komplete. The only poor man might be the person buying Komplete. A penny saved is a penny earned. I have Komplete and haven't used everything in it. They are both good HUGE libraries. Total Studio Max is a bargain in comparison. It could be argued between the two which libraries sound better. I am happy with ST MAX.

  26. I bought it because it was the closest thing to Roland's R-Mix, which I kind of missed (the Cakewalk version). I understand the real R-Mix is part of the Roland cloud now but when they dropped the loyalty bonus my interest in that went out the window. F-Rex is like R-Mix but is missing a bunch of features to make it really awesome. It does have the basic R-Mix UI, but things like simple solo buttons aren't there. The window is always square (no round options) And the effects it includes are kind of weak. It has great potential but I have a hard time recommending it. A Japanese company with a name of "INTERNET Co, Ltd" should be the first clue. They haven't updated it in forever. I just checked with their activation center (how they manage the activation/install) and it tells me I have the most recent version. You don't even register with them, you can access the download with your serial number only. I think you can demo it: https://www2.ssw.co.jp/download/dl_trial_en.aspx?p=761 It's also part of their audio editing app Sound It!(It's included with the app). But the version included in the audio editing app can't be used outside of it. I checked with their support when I was looking at this years ago.

  27. The deed is done from JRR - £105! Thanks for the help guys - I was a bit nervous about it accepting the crossgrade but all seemed to go smoothly. Just had to spend a bit of time reorganising my drives to make room for it all on my new 1Tb SSD. No doubt there will be the usual IK fun and games getting it to work but I'm used to that now! See you in a week when it has all finished downloading!

  29. Wow, thanks very much for this link @cclarry! This is basically a virtual Roland JX-8P. That was my very first keyboard. I love that machine and I actually still have it, but the keys don't work so I've kept it in storage until I can find time to possibly fix it. 30. You misunderstood my answer. Make no mistake, this deal is a BARGAIN-STEAL, you name it. It's a NO-BRAINER. To anyone. From the worst noob, to the best experienced Pro Mixing Engineer. There, I said it. You SHOULD GET THIS. Period, lol. IKM is in Italy, right? Maybe the need to sell tons to get good cash for some needs? If so, we would be helping them to get afloat (just a possible scenario?)

  31. Some people may simply not like IK's products or their licensing system, which is fine. I, on the other hand, think it's a great deal. I won't be going for it as I've taken advantage of some other great offers recently (including IK promos on Sunset Studio and B3-X), but even if you have *no* products you can crossgrade from, the package is $225 at JRR. That would be a ridiculously good deal even if it was only for the Amplitube and T-Racks stuff. If it gives you a cheap pathway to the next Max package that includes things like Sunset Studio Reverb/Hammond, then that's another thing in its favour, as they're both excellent!

  35. Yes...if you bought it you can sell it. You can't sell the group buy items that you received for FREE, but the one's that you purchased you can sell. The way to tell is to look at the "License" tab under the product. If it has a RED "transfer" button then it can be sold. The transfer fee is $19.99, and you can use Jampoints to take 30% off that price, and also be mindful that anything you sell they will take back whatever Jampoints they gave you when your purchased it!

  38. ARC 2.5 introduced the MEMS microphone, if that is what you have it would be the same microphone. Your mic will work. However we do have more information on why the MEMS microphone is the best choice: With normal “recording” microphones the accuracy of the frequency response down to the dB or fraction of dB is not that crucial, but for measurement microphones it’s a fundamental aspect. There were two models of the original ARC condenser microphone, one with an orange ring at its base, one without; the first model is from 2007 and it’s the one without the orange ring. Condenser microphones tend to vary their response with environmental conditions and with age. In 2009 that mic was replaced with the second model (with the orange ring) to improve the stability with time and temperature. So, if you own one of the original ring-less microphones that was sold between 2007 and 2009, while you can for sure use and see the results, there are chances that its reliability is not great at today (11+ years later), making the precision of the ARC 3 correction less accurate. The second model was more stable, but even that one is surpassed in terms of precision and stability with environment and age by the ARC 3 MEMS microphone. So, if you’re after a great level of accuracy from your monitoring system, make sure to use the ARC 3 MEMS microphone for the room analysis phase. Please see above about the microphones. Thanks for the compliment, I did have some influence - not gonna lie

  39. I have all my sounds still too. But somewhere I lost track of where I kept them, and I had to cough up for the d/l fee to d/l them again. Then when I went through all my bkup drives I noticed I had redundants!! I still have my zip files, and have them all bkup on different drives. Mostly because I don't want to have to sit through all the damn d/l again!!! : ) And now that I have cleaned up all my bkup drives, and have it all organized, IK will come out with a d/l and install program with unlimited d/l of all the files!! Yep, just my luck. : )

  45. Well not that it answers your question, but I was wondering similar. At least you can download from Izotope, and as it's authed via iLok, there should be no problem there. So I stopped wondering because I could download it when needed, and the auth was taken care of (apart from machine failures and the risks of it being to my PC and not iLok dongle, but that's another story) They do say on the Izotope site "At this time, Exponential Audio products are not yet integrated into Product Portal. The iLok activation code will not work within Product Portal." At this time may be taken, with a little or a lot of liberty to mean at sometime in the future it will be integrated. Sorry it took so long to not answer your question, if I could give you your time back I would. (also did you notice that PG released the new official update for FX2)
