  1. @chris.r / @Skyline_UK / @Terry Kelley - thanks for your feedback on the "end of project" tempo nodes. The official 2021.04 Update 1 release will no longer create tempo nodes at the end of the project when importing an older project or using the "Clear All" context menu command. It shouldn't be much longer before this is released.

  8. 15,000 authorizations! I just wish I could get my Slate authorizations off of the iLok dongle. It's my last hold out. I have a perpetual licenses for Trigger with expansions, FG-X, VBC, VCC and VMR. Unless I'm missing something only Slate subscription subscribers are dongle-less. Sons-of-bitches! Thanks for letting me vent. 😆 Rocky

  9. This series by @Creative Sauce is probably exactly what you're looking for. IIRC he uses Cakewalk for the whole process:

  14. I love odd little things that make sound. And Arturia's MicroFreak is just that kind of a thing. It's a mighty little beast with a huge sound. Also I love things you can mess around, rearrange and scramble anyway you want. Which is why I love Kilohearts' Phase Plant. So naturally I had to pair those two up. I recorded sounds from the MicroFreak and tweaked, turned and generally messed with them inside Phase Plant. The result is a cinematic synth set that has a futuristic scifi sound. The range is from squeaky clean and ethereal to dirty and gritty as heck. Contents 100 cinematic patches for Kilohearts' Phase Plant synth and takes up 195 mb of hard drive space. PhaseFreak requires Kilohearts' Phase Plant to work. Pricing PhaseFreak retails for 29€ (excluding VAT where applicable) with an introductory offer of 19€ until the 9th of June 2021. https://www.manmakesnoise.com/phasefreak

  19. I've got a 1st gen Scarlett (it doesn't even have an on/off switch!) that I'm still using. My power adapter broke the other day so I contacted support. I fully expected them to tell me my interface was far too old, out of warranty, and that I'd have to buy another adapter from them (in which case I probably would have tried another brand). To my surprise, they sent me a new one for free! So their support is pretty good (from my experience), and you get the occasional free plugins from Plugin Collective. The interface is good enough for me (i.e. the Scarlett range - not suggesting you find a 1st gen model), but you might have more demanding needs.

  20. Mulling Vocal Bender over, as I already have Little Alter Boy. Found the following direct comparison. Agree with @Carl Ewing that Bender sounds much less "gritty" in the YT vid.

  21. This sounds really nice. I own a couple of Xperimenta Project's libraries and will surely buy more in the future. Just really great stuff, IMO, and some of the libraries are a great deal or a steal in the case of the recently released Minima freebie. I hope they/he (Flavio) do a solo cello in the near future. Besides the fact that I love cellos, Flavio seems like he would do a great job at a cello library.

  26. On a related note, what an incredibly confused strategy to call their new line of software "The Collective" when they already have the "The Plugin Collective." I found this copy amusing, for marketing and branding professionals, this is basically like reading "The Onion": "A note for our loyal Plug-in Collective members. Plug-in Collective is a separate entity from The Collective, and will remain separate for the foreseeable future. We encourage all Plug-in Collective members to check out The Collective!"

  31. A request for the next official release. In VST Settings: Make the VST Migration optional. As long as there are issues with certain venders VST3 instruments, I think it best not to force CbB to use these. Having the boxes unchecked by default would be preferable in my opinion.

  32. There is no "standard" way. But there are several. I think the simplest to try (and completely free) is WebTransport: https://www.azslow.com/index.php/topic,288.0.html If you ask Cakewalk to rewind on stop, that can be sufficient (in case you have other controllers / happy with mouse and keyboard). The next level is mentioned TouchDAW or TouchOSC: https://www.azslow.com/index.php/topic,295.0.html TouchOSC has some advantages and disadvantages. It works "directly" throw OSC, so without extra loopback daemons, it shows complete track/parameter names (TouchDAW emulate MCU, which has tiny displays) and you can adjust what it does/how it looks yourself (not so easy, but possible). But TouchOSC is a bit less stable and linked preset covers less then MCU (well, as you can notice at the end of the video, Dr. Mike rarely use anything except transport 😉 ). WiFi requires proper configuration and can influence performance (many WiFi/BT adapters in notebooks trigger huge system latency, you get clicks/pops under low buffer settings then). If you can use wires, use ANY wired MIDI controller. You can configure it to do anything you need and that is not hard (in case wishes are not extraordinary). The cheapest I know is Behringer X-Touch Mini. Some people prefer tiny "full scale DAW controllers" like Korg nonKONTROL Studio, other "one strip" controllers from Behringer or PreSonus, with idea "one good fader is better then 8 toys". But all that is relatively expensive.

  35. Hi! Many thanks for your kind reply. We are now working on an hardware EQ , and also a new concept of audio plug-in to bring your sound more analog-feel (this still in discussion). If you have any wish of hardware emulation audio plug-in, feel free to tell me!
