  1. Code HARVESTMOON gives you 15% off Storewide Coupon seems to be multi-use. https://audioplugin.deals/ List of store deals: https://audioplugin.deals/apd-shop-cheat-sheet/ The list above doesn't look to be complete list, so browsing the store, using the search or using google search might actually bring some additional finds. Offer seems to be available (according to their YouTube video) "only for a few days". Whatever that means. Edit: Code makes some of the current deals lowest recorded, such as the VIKING Bundle ($75.65 instead of $89)

  2. Got the IR-X yesterday. Was our anniversary... so didn't have a chance to check it out until today. πŸ€ͺ Channel 1 (Plexi) sounds great. With the gain dimed, it's super expressive. Play light and it's clean... dig-in and it's dirty. Channel 2 (BE) with gain set at ~1:00 results in a BE style Rock guitar tone. Nice dynamic/touch response and feel. Using the default IR with tone controls at 50%: Even when using a bridge humbucker, the sound is well-rounded (but not tubby). Switch to a neck humbucker... and flip the Tight switch to the left. Great clarity whether playing single notes or chords. Channel 2 has more gain than I'd ever use. Want to spend more time with the boosts (separate for each channel). By default, they're pretty clean. Also, want to see how the IR-X fairs with boost/drive pedals in-front. There's a lot of gain/level available (especially with boost)... so it's easy to overload the input on whatever you're connected to In my case, I've got the IR-X connected to a Neve clone (preamp). The level knobs for both channels are ~9:00 (quarter). While there are 1001 different DI solutions for recording (and playing live), this is the easiest I've experienced. It's stupid easy to dial-in good guitar sounds.

  3. most pitch shifting plugins aren't great in low latency mode. i generally track without any plugins and try to use direct monitoring to avoid any latency effects in monitoring. and if someone needs a bit of reverb, i'll use the mixer built-in reverb... πŸ™‚ then just adjust the recorded tracks by whatever the latency setting shows (e.g. if 5ms or 10ms, then shift things left 5-10ms) and done. i've found it just safer to get recordings without any possible glitching due to plugin overhead or even mysterious system occurrences πŸ˜‰

  4. I just touched the surface during the livestream earlier today. You can check out the replay below. IK has been a great supporter over the years and sent me Pianoverse with the four available pianos. I always want to represent myself with the highest level of integrity so you will not hear overinflated claims or hype, just my honest first impressions here are some of my takeaways from today. These pianos were captured what I would call bone dry and in this case, it is what makes them not only work inside of Pianoverse but also in some rather unexpected applications (VSL MIR and immersive audio applications I am pondering exploring). The SPACES for the most part can come across as gimmicks and some definitely are while others grab you and put you there. I need to definitely spend some time learning more but I am finding this very interesting. The playability reminded me of what I enjoy when playing Keyscape (I purchased my copy), you open it up and play and it sits right there in a comfortable place without having to do much to it. You can hear at the opening and closing jams during the livestream that I used the dry stereo AB mics for the most part and they sat quite well. I was also concerned about the sterility that using the robotic approach might bring but I was pleasantly surprised to hear some nonperfect aspects of how the notes interacted. Storage speed. Loading times seem to take a little longer than I would have liked to see and it seemed that the audio engine was interrupted near the end of loading a patch. I installed the content on a few different SSDs, even trying one of my NVME m.2 drives during the livestream. At first, I was bummed about the lack of mic positions but after getting into playing it more, I found that I did not miss them and stayed on the stereo pair. Using the Timbre Shift on the upright was beautiful, it took the tone in a very warm and dynamic place for me. I felt like I went into today’s stream so underprepared but that is the fun of exploring on my Joyful Journeys. I can tell you this, there will be more, so please let me know if you have any questions or suggest things to try and I will do my best. Joyfully Yours, Simeon Into PIANOVERSE | CUBE Canopies | News and More

  8. who knows ? but 12 scanners are currently showing the file as malicious and containing a specific trojan not just reporting 'random phone home' behaviour - which lots of software does. The scanners that are flagging it are some of the biggest and most reliable scanners too. If they have submitted the file for a 'false positive' assessment as @Peter - IK Multimedia says then we should see it come up as clean. This hasn't happened as yet. IKM are not immune to viruses - nobody is. There is zero reason to believe it's NOT been infected unless the files is cleared by a 'false positive' assessment or IKM give us more information. Personally, I would recommend anyone who installed it on Windows to remove it and to do a full system scan with their preferred virus scanner. I would also hold off on installing v1.08 until we know what happened. Obviously anyone is free to trust or install whatever they like. EDIT v1.08 is now showing as infected by multiple virus scanners - currently 7 positives but increasing......

  9. Sometimes bigger is better, though. We took a no-compromise approach to our Tape Machine Collection, for example, where they do use resources for sure but also sound incredible so there is a payoff. We are also known for some groundbreaking physical modeling as well as component modeling so if we felt that was the direction to take for Pianoverse rest assured that we would have. For these beautiful instruments we were able to exceed the very high standards we set out to achieve in the best possible way with our robotic-assisted sampling coupled with making sure the instruments were as well-maintained and prepared by someone who took even those "maintenance" tasks to the level of an art form. We knew people would ask "do I need another piano virtual instrument?" and frankly the answer is "Of course not, you need one - you don't need them any more you'll only need one and that's Pianoverse". Check out Simeon and others who have demonstrated Pianoverse or take the subscription for a month-long stroll for less than a cheap meal since all cheekiness aside it really is for you to decide. I hope you love it.

  10. Friedman has released the new IR-X. It's a high-voltage tube preamp, with simulated power-amp section, and low-latency Cab IRs. Two Channels (Plexi, BE) Separate Boost for each channel Small and relatively inexpensive ($500) If you like the Friedman amp sound... and are looking for a simple/effective direct Live or Recording rig, this may be nigh on perfect.

  12. Yep, for the most part, I do not click the "Paid Promotion" box unless I have been compensated monetarily in some way. Thursday's live stream was one of those occasions where Lunacy Audio sent a token of financial support to feature the new artist pack and Paid Promotion or Endorsement was checked, you can see the YouTube notification when the video begins. I also work on including acknowledgments in each of the video's descriptions regarding NFRs, affiliate links, and compensation when relevant, there of course can always be improvement to remove any suspicions. Woody's Piano Shack addressed this in a video a few months ago and I appreciate his approach to some of these same issues. Thank you so much for the encouragement. I have had the "s" word (similar to shell) tossed at me a few times and this is absolutely something that I am definitely not about, so your reminder helps a lot. Being on YouTube does not pay the bills as there is actually very little that actually comes through, realistically on average under $200 a month, and that is including those who are channel members. My thing is I am an in-the-moment person who loves being a musician, loves helping other musicians any way I can, and attempts to let the instruments speak for themselves. I will never sell my soul for an NFR, nor will I take payment to present something in a deceitful way, or deliberately hide anything, the cost is much too high and I am not willing to sacrifice my beliefs, name, and integrity to pay such a price. I would much rather shut the channel down and be done with it and focus on producing more personal and client projects. Thanks again for the kind and thoughtful support. I will take a look at the link to see how I can improve things and I look forward to continuing to take more Joyful Journeys with all of you. Joyfully yours, Simeon * I just read over the PDF in your and will work to incorporate the suggestions going forward. Thanks again, my friend. Here is Woody's video:

  13. Just posted the same thing in another thread... only the version is an upgrade, the dot releases are included in each version. Studio One historically releases the version every 2 years (paid upgrades), with the .5s on the off years (they are free). SO Pro ends up being around $60 a year to keep updated (always a sale on that upgrade somewhere for around $120 every other year).

  14. From Simeon's video and the demos at IK, I really do think these IK pianos sound really good. And, frankly, despite the SampleTank pianos not being very impressive, I don't find it surprising. IK did an excellent job with modeling bass and drums and it makes sense that they'd be able to create excellent piano libraries if they focused their resources on it, and it appears they did just that. I'm likely to eventually pick up at least one of these pianos. I think IK would do well to offer a free trial version of one of the pianos so that we could get a feel for the sound and playability of this piano series.

  15. I've purchased the BE100 twice. Love the sound/versatility. Both times, I sold it... due to the size/weight and expense (I'm not primarily a guitar player). This format is so much more convenient, affordable, practical... for many of us.

  17. Of course THE LEGEND has good sound. It's great that they prioritized the UI and operability over making it look like the Minimoog. There is a MODEL REVISION switch and a 50Hz and 60Hz selector switch on the back panel, allowing you to pollute the sound. I think it would be a good purchase at the sale price.

  18. Next is out and in BETA mode and for the past 24hrs I have been testing and creating some tracks. So far i am liking the look and feel. What i am most impressed with it, is the fact that it handles live performances ten times better than CbB. I was jamming with it, did some DJ work with it and for two hours straight it held its own on major projects. That is a huge positive side to it - really impressed! It took me 5mins to figure out its workflow. I love the new Sampler and Xsampler features. Great new stock plugins. Everything is so straight forward, but there are some downsides, drawbacks, cons (what ever you want to call it) to some features that can be improved. Such as the Track Pane that is not Scalable. It crops the window/pane instead of resizing the plugins and effects on it to smaller. The height is perfect though. Also theirs NO console? Perhaps I have missed this one, but I couldnt find it. Arranger Pane is there for those who use it. I wont use it as a main DAW though, but for mobility use like writting demos or features when collaborating while travelling - for sure! For now i am still testing it out looking for features that might have a different names and taps. Heres what i can tell you upfront! Its gona pick up popularity with the EDM community! I already have gotten one other producer to try it out.

  25. As far as I know, there are no Cakewalk specific hardware controllers (unless you include the now discontinued controllers from the Roland era). It should be pretty easy to set-up an ACT controller to at least get one way control from any MIDI controller though. If you need two way control, check out @azslow3's AZController - he's got a bunch of presets for various controllers on his forum. As far as stickers are concerned, I used to use them (in fact exactly the same ones as posted) but have stopped for a few reasons: They come off after around 6 months (although super-glue will give them another year's life) They're pretty "busy" and hard to read 9/10 you get to know the shortcuts by heart in any case They're useless if you change your shortcuts, or create new ones Really, you're much better off with a chart on the wall: when you find yourself using a particular function often, find out what shortcut it is and add it to your list. You'll commit it to memory soon enough.

  26. Didn't mention it because I was thinking more along the lines of orchestral scores, but Burn by The Cure from The Crow is very, very high on my list. Amazing song, incredible movie. I still get goosebumps 29 years later. The whole soundtrack is arguably my favorite in the genre.

  41. @Klaus M Old versions of SONAR will always open newer files but without any new feature content. This is because we support backwards and forwards compatibility. Did you try renaming the file back to cakewalk.exe and trying. If it doesnt work then something is still blocking the Windows services somehow. As mentioned, there are other apps that install hooks or tamper with Windows for nefarious purporses leading to issues like this.

  46. Interesting move from IKM. As much as I love some of their other instruments (B3) and effects (Sunset Sounds Studio Reverb), they're pitching this at an odd level. Before I'd bite on any of these, they'd have to convince me they're absolutely light years ahead of the Sampletank pianos, because even the add-on ones aren't any better than OK.

  47. I migrated to S1 after we first got the news about CW, but I still come to this forum everyday because I think it's a great place full of really good people. Anyway, I looked at this list of updates and it strikes me how few of the features I actually use in a DAW! I bet I probably less than 10% of what's available. This release makes me realize I need to hit the youtube tuts again.

  48. That is also a symptom of old third party software components expiring due to timeouts or certificate expiration. While we have kept the legacy back end in place as a courtesy, it no longer receives any updates so its subject to failures like this. This is one reason why we want users running the latest version of our software since that is the only version that is actively updated.

  49. There are people using it to make really good stuff but they put a lot of work into making it give them what they want instead of just plugging in chords, picking a style and letting it rip - using what gets spit out verbatim. When I occasionally use BIAB, I use it as an idea generator and the final product is considerably different than what I was given.
