  1. I did that as well. The whole discord system is a mess. I don't know how many will really want to mess with it. This way... people that don't want to get into that Discord mess can still see what's up...
  2. I like the visual so far. I had to read the manual to understand how plugins get inserted. Once I knew what to look for and where to click I was in business. The vibe for the track workflow is similar to Ableton with everything in-line at the bottom of the screen and track controls at the left instead of the right. The initial plugin window (before expanding) looks OK with some of the plugins that i tried. The initial window shows a handful of parameters. This might be ok if the user is allowed to change the parameters to suit their own workflow. On an instrument track, I tried adding KONTAKT 7 and loading up session strings pro. The initial parameters look like a mess. These parameter have numbers for names that mean nothing at the moment. Opening / expanding the edit window is the only way that I can see to work with that type of instrument, so far, and I'm ok with that. Had to read the manual on how to stretch a clip. I spent time trying to figure out how to "STRETCH ENABLE" a clip. The manual shows an icon in lower right corner of clip, if the clip is "STRETCH ENABLED." After a few minutes of messing around, I tried to just control drag like the manual stated and it just worked. The stretch enable icon was not there before nor did it show up after the stretch. Splits, fades worked. I can't wait to try this on my main music system which is a mac. This test is on a windows machine test. Things I would like: Scroll playhead left or right by keyboard command. (I use this when writing midi passages.) I use this probably more than looping. Zoom (Manual says: Go to View > Zoom In or View > Zoom Out.) When I went to VIEW... I didn't see ZOOM. Also - manual says : Press ALT+LEFT/RIGHT (Windows) / CMD+LEFT/RIGHT (Mac). This did not work. Alt + LEFT/RIGHT arrows moved the track selection up and down. I was able to get horizontal zoom working with CTL+LEFT/RIGHT arrows.... I would like to see a Warp / Transient marker for when I'm stretching audio clips for ease of aligning similar clips. My workflow is 1. Track, 2. Make certain each track sounds the way that I want it. 3. Export all individual tracks. 4. Import tracks to new project. 5. Mix for balance. 6. Master. This program could potentially take care of steps 1 through 3. AND I could see myself putting this to use in this context alone and being happy with it as it's own creation tool. I don't like mixing in Ableton, and I don't think I would like this NEXT too much for mixing. I'll play with it some more. I was really hoping this would be able to open my old Cakewalk projects on a Mac. I'll try this when I get home. I like having a vertical mixer where I can jump left and right to tracks to eq, pan, send for FX and balance my mix. I know a lot of people like to mix as they go... I don't.
  3. I did not like messing around with the discord webpage. It's a mess. I like this a lot better.
  4. Go to this site: https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/pc-optimization-guide-for-windows-10/ Scroll down to USB power management... go through those steps. WINDOWS is notorious for resetting this after an update. This will screw with bus powered devices more than folks realize. I've use MOTU 828pre-es since windows 7 days... I've never had a problem with the drivers... but it is not bus powered, either...
  5. I was just wondering if you were trying to track a really awesome guitar riff on a gut punching 412 cabinet with a 100 watt head that is really cranked while trying to listen through a set of 5 inch Rokits.... The problem might not necessarily be the driver... 5 inch speakers in a small to mid-size room can be fairly loud. I went to 8 inch speakers to help the difference when tracking because i liked calling down the thunder, but I had a choice, I could either hear my CLICK track OR spend a lot of time lining up transients. I learned to turn my guitar down and go for clarity...
  6. I'm going to take you on a different path. In your envelope setting, look at the choice. you may have put your envelope on VOLUME and edited it the way that you want it. Now, drop down to CLIP GAIN envelope. if you have nothing there, copy your automation from VOLUME to CLIP GAIN and check to see if the results are the same, you will have to delete or clear the VOLUME envelope, then see if you like the result. If so, your track fader is free to use or write to as desired. If you are using an EFFECT that has a gain control before it hits the track, you could automate that control instead and you would get back your fader. You have a lot of automation that you can try that can free up the fader.
  7. Wasapi is not really the problem. With connecting a Midi Controller to computer and expecting to hear the sound is extremely difficult on Windows. This is because the drivers are CHIP based, and by chip-based, I mean the audio chip. RealTek makes most of the chips that go into laptops and they have blanket drivers that even you can download based on the chip ... but those drivers may mess up your system because they are BIOS dependent. In the big scheme of things, it's up to the hardware (laptop) manufacturers to optimize the drivers for the work that they do. No laptop manufacturer is going to waste their time making DAW-centric drivers. Laptop manufacturers are focused on either gamers, office users, or code developers. I've had HP, Dell XPS and Asus Laptops, all with top notch specs. You just cannot get away from the need for an external audio device. Those are just the people that make the drivers that function the best...in Windows. That being said. I cursed myself and bought Apple Silicon Mac. I've not looked back. I still kept my Windows machine because I still have a lot of CWB files from the last fifteen years. I started with Sonar 5 and was never unhappy with any iteration of Sonar or CBB. I was frustrated by the Windows workflow. When you max out buffer settings etc for mixing, any machine can do great work. BUT the tracking side, the low latency, the all-in-one machine is the Macbook Air for low track counts and Macbook Pro for high track counts. I'm just patiently waiting on Cakewalk Next. I can drill buffers sizes down to 128 and track an entire band with PLUGINS and routing in the box... and have non-existent latency... I could never do that on any of my Windows systems.
