  4. This is not an installation manager. It does not install a manager. It is simply a global installer that has the ability to install any or all of their product. You pick which ones you want to install and when it is done installing the installer closes.

  8. The most important rule is to know your monitors. This takes hundreds of hours of listening to good mixes (from other people) on those monitors, in your mixing room, sitting in your mixing position. Try to listen as big a range of songs you know really well as much as possible. While this won't remove any deficiencies with your room/monitors (and FWIW every room has them), you'll at least be at a point where you know what sounds good or bad in your room. Pick a reference track from that list of songs that closely resembles your song and put it in your project - level match it to your project, then mute it, then every so often compare it to your song. Listen carefully to things like the balance between vocals / instruments, and how boomy or loud the bass is. If you're getting big discrepancies between different speakers/rooms though, I'd recommend some room correction. I bought ARC 2 years ago, and the difference was night & day. I'd take a look at IK's ARC Studio, which is a hardware unit - it sits between your audio interface and your monitors. If I didn't already have ARC 2, I'd have bought it by now. Oh... and if you are going to invest in any room correction, do this before you start listening to stuff for hundreds of hours... else you'll need to start listening from scratch!

  10. From the Cakewalk Sonar website FAQ's: "Is Cakewalk Sonar replacing Cakewalk by BandLab? Cakewalk Sonar builds and improves on Cakewalk by BandLab, offering advanced technology, effortless workflow, and an interface that amplifies inspiration. You can still access Cakewalk by BandLab here, but it will soon be phased out. We will continue providing community support and maintenance for Cakewalk by BandLab until both Cakewalk Next and Sonar become publicly available. Existing Cakewalk by BandLab users will be able to continue using the software after the release of Cakewalk Sonar. In the meantime, Cakewalk by BandLab continues to be available here." "Will Cakewalk by BandLab be discontinued? Yes, eventually. We will continue providing community support and maintenance for Cakewalk by BandLab until Cakewalk Sonar becomes publicly available. At some point after the release of Sonar, Cakewalk by BandLab will no longer be supported. Note that existing Cakewalk by BandLab users will be able to continue using the software after the release of Cakewalk Sonar. In the meantime, Cakewalk by BandLab continues to be available here." TDLR: Existing users of CbB will continue to be able to re-activate and use CbB even after the release of Sonar. It will eventually be phased out, but we've no immediate plans to do so. There may be a point in between however, where new users will be unable to download and/or activate CbB.

  14. I generally avoid Waves for the same reason. But I do love their Abbey Road plugins and I'll absolutely take another free plugin (I already have this one, since it just means a newer plugin with no need for WUP). But I've never had a Waves plugin stop working on me to date, so, I've never had to buy WUP.

Hamburger is available via a ‘pay what you like’ format, which can be $0 or more if you wish to support the developer. Aviary Audio describes Hamburger as a “distortion plugin with inbuilt dynamics controls and equalization that can deliver both subtle tangy harmonics and absolute annihilation and noise-wall-ification to any sound.” Hamburger is currently in version 0.3, and will later be made into a complete version, which will also be released for free. Hamburger is available in VST3, CLAP, and AU formats.

  29. Great song Steve ! I Really enjoyed the video as well. The slide rule really brought back some distant memories.. The subject matter will be Very relevant not too far in the future. I hope I'm still around to witness it. I like the way you put his feeling of isolation into a light perspective, without letting it get depressing. Now I Totally get your suggestion on my last song. Subscribed .. hats off to @DeeringAmps I think you're getting the ball rolling .. Loved it .. mark

  33. Sorry about that, can you please let me know what your ticket number was? Sourcing a knob shouldn't be rocket science even if they could get you the right specs and some suggestions for third party replacement. Edit - in the mean time you might want to check out https://stompboxparts.com/knobs/mxr-style-knob/ though it might be the larger size at https://stompboxparts.com/knobs/large-mxr-style-knob/ (but either should work, I just don't know which is the exact same size at this moment)

  35. Hovering the mouse over the marker and pressing delete won't delete it - because as you said, hovering doesn't select it. You need to left click on the marker and press the delete key while the mouse button is down. Either that, or delete them from the markers view. I agree it's not intuitive, but it's been that way for a while, and will likely stay that way until the current marker view is replaced. It's been discussed, but nothing has been planned yet.

  36. this, there are some great plugs that will do this (eg, sonarworks, toneboosters) but always play it back on other systems (hifi(wtf is that these days?), car stereo, PHONE SPEAKER all the kids use that)) also having a reference track is really helpful /goodluck, have fun

  42. The same here! I catch me wasting hours to download, install, backup plugins and libraries instead of making music. But collecting gets tougher and tougher, because many plugin developers don't understand that people like me avoid online-only activations and installation manager only setups. There are some companies that missed hundreds of $ of me because of this! This is no joke, really!

  43. Terrible. I've got 2 of them but this kind of thing confirms my suspicion that IKM really has some growing to do on the physical guitar product front. They feel well built, but you also have to account for the fact that these things are meant to take some abuse - being stepped on, tripped over, etc.
