About Me

  1. Hi again:) So, installed old drivers from 2016, no effort, every recorded clip is totally distorted, recording itself looks good! Installed Flash Update for RME Hdsp 9652 to the newest, installed newest drivers from FEB 2019, no effort, can't record anymore:( Switched to Presonus Audiobox and it's fine again! so no problem at all, my work can grow on.... RME Hdsp and audiobox are working fine in Cubase and Studio One. At the moment can't figure out the problem. How can I switch back to a previous version from Bandlab?? I have made no Backup from the last Installation Files:( Thanks, Bassman.
  2. So in a vain and foolish attempt to figure out why Sampletank 4 crashes CbB every time I insert it I ran Microsoft's Sysinternals Process Monitor on Cakewalk and noticed something a bit odd. CbB seems to be querying the registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib\Disable Performance Counters over and over and over and over and over again. And since it doesn't exist, it keeps getting an error. This can't be good. It could be something about my machine (I develop software so I have a ton of development tools installed) . But it really should only check it once I'd think. To reproduce this, run procmon and filter for process name contains cakewalk. Start Cakewalk.exe make a new blank project. I'm running the most recent build 2019.03 (Build 20, 64 bit). I'm not sure if it was doing this before I updated this morning. Oddly enough running procmon causes Sampletank 4 not to crash on insert. Perhaps there is some sort of multi-thread race condition in CbB? This machine is a i9-9960x with 16 physical cores. ST4 works fine in Cubase and Reaper but in CbB and SONAR Plat it crashes (without a crash catcher) every time I add it.
  3. Title says it all. I even check in the CbB Help > About and it reads 2019.03 (Build 15, 64-bit) But I close the DAW and then reopen it, and again I get a blue rectangle pop-up telling me "Update Available" and to do so from the Assistant. Is this a known bug? How do I get it to stop doing this?
  4. I recently reinstalled Windows 10 and all programs. I had Gibson's final Sonar Platinum & downloaded and got BandLab Cakewalk going now, with some issues that works now. 1) Do we know how long the formerly Gibson Sonar Command Center page will stay active? If I have to do this again in 2 years I'll need to run it to re-authorize / install plug ins. 2) I've copied and saved (took a screen capture) of all my serials (as an image file) to have if needed. They don't help with on-line or even off line authorizations I believe though. 3) I wonder if there is a 3rd way, to have those tweaked somehow to allow direct serial number authorizations, especially if that Command Center page will ever get shut down. I had Acronis 2019 latest version. In 2018- 2017 the older versions fully restored my OS drive without reboot in one click, quickly, flawlessly. Those idiots couldn't keep up with Windows Updates I guess. There was no one-button solution, but either opening and restoring certain things to certain places to do a full restore, and upon calling their horrible tech support, they said my doing it without reboot could be the reason why it failed. I did it on reboot with thumb drive but that was long, tedious, selecting various things vs. the single click solution. It still failed. Even a later quick update of the new OS with almost nothing on it failed. I mean BSOD, not "oh nothing happened". They had catastrophically & completely hosed my system with just a simple restore attempt (which is what their whole purpose is, you had one job, ONE JOB Acronis). So I'll be done with them entirely now. I'm just saying that, it's not a question. I warning to others not to bother with Acronis. I will be getting Macrium Reflect full paid to replace it, as that has a much better reputation.
  5. Bandlab Assistant informs me there's new update by the time I write this post... Only couple weeks after the last update. Changelog : Build 25.03.0.20 hotfix Some 3rd party plugins not compatible with asynchronous bounce Opening templates from Start Screen do not respect the default sample rate Bouncing audio results in gaps in audio for some users Start Screen not shown on app launch for some users Note: Fast Bounce optimization in the 2019.03 release has been temporarily rolled back in order to address regressions with 3rd party plug-ins that are not multiprocessing compliant. We look forward to introducing even faster bounce functionality in a future version. Anyway it's positive indication that the dev team listened user input. Really good job on their side Thanks alot guys.

  9. Thanks for info. Good to know we can expect improvements soon, Unfortunately current browser it is not doing what I mentioned but maybe my broken English said not precisely what I meant. My apologies for that For instance (2019.03 installed of course btw): - hide VST2 versions of some plugins and VST3 of the others (but not uninstall because would like to be able switch visibility fast VST2<->VST3 without performing new install in case if any issue). Do we have Waves plugins? For instance H-reverb has 17 variations showed in plugin browser. How cool would be to be able to hide selectively what is not in our interest? I don't use 5.0/5.1 system so gladly I would hide them in browser (in Studio One we can do it). - be able to store on server my hard work to put plugins in my custom categories and when OS crashed and needed to reinstall or moving to other computer just to connect to my profile and import it (in fact it would be nice to have any customization kept on user profile on server to be able fast and smoothly restore them). I am using 2 computers in 2 different cities and keeping them in sync is a really pain. To make things even harder I also have 2 different profiles for every of those computers (they are running win10 but have secondary profile with Win7). You could imagine how hard it to keep in sync all 4 profiles (especially win7 are rarely used mostly in case of Win10 unrecoverable crash (what happen few times) or fast testing an issue with program. - to be able at level of plugin browser see exact path on disk on status bar to be able locate it not search in windows explorer and also directly delete plugin (and also move its location). And of course - I am GAS infected - so I desperately need to be able perform every operation also on group selected plugins Generally to be able to perform selectively any plugin management action on group of plugins at browser level. Including removal from disk (as most installs are just putting .dll or .vst3 into directories). Of course I appreciate improvements made in Platinum long time ago about plugs browser but things is when you have really huge amount of plugins (it is not rare after scan have discovered 1000+) every not needed additional operation is multiplied. Of course we have layer manger and it is very useful in some cases but not really handful if we want to change fast and often (in fact after installing new plugin it could be need to modify a little view). It would be nice to do it at browser level and for instance after it could internally save as layer to be able do some changer in layer manger if someone prefers or there is a reason.
  10. I reported this on the old forum, so just a reminder: When saving a track template, outputs and sends to sidechain fx are not saved. Old Sonar bug, same in v8.5. Tested on buses and tracks, sidechain is lost. Looking in the .cwx I see a plug->input 2 ref. so it may be a loading issue. Is nobody using track templates with side chaining? Still not fixed as of 2019.07/79
  11. Bump... Still available for $109.99 until 03/23/2019 at midnight.
  12. March 21, 2019: v3.66 A crashing bug fixed when right clicking on the structure bar [macOS VST] 'Bring RapidComposer To Top' button works well, UI fixes Fixed: displaying lines/parts with various signatures was incorrect Improved handling of zero-length notes during MIDI drag and drop To upgrade, hit the "Check for Updates" button on the Support menu.
  13. https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/production-expert-1/2019/3/15/mac-pro-51-cheese-grater-with-thunderbolt-the-impossible-is-now-possible Interesting though is if I wanted to try the Mac side I would go with one of these cheese grater Macs. Apple made the mistake of making these easy to upgrade. I've come across people still using these boxes instead of going wit Apple's latest and greatest. I'd have to wonder though with this TB adapter using Windows on a Mac is a night and day difference for those Mac users running one of those high end units like an RME.
  14. Bundle is not the way most of use would do this. You just transfer the whole project folder(s) which should all be on a portable back up drive anyways. I've been working between 2 or 3 machines for years now and have never had any issues. As I said all your projects should be stored in a main folder and then that folder should have been backed up to an external drive for safe keeping. Make sure you date the containment folder. I have 3 DAW set ups right now. Main DAW is a typical i7 It has 3 Drives. No data on C. Working data on E and then backups on G. Then an i5 Laptop which has 2 drives same set up but no back up drive. Both have all the same VST's and are fully licenced so projects all run smoothly on both of these machines. It is worth noting that most all VST's like Melodyne and AD2 allow for 2 machines. Then the 3rd laptop is a 2008 duo core Sony with only 1 SATA drive which I use differently. All run the latest CbB as well as have Splat and various older versions still installed. Here's a step by step of how I copy from machine to machine. On my main DAW I use a Data Drive (E) to store all my projects. Each song ( project) folder is inside an ALBUM folder. Album folders keep different types of project tidy. -- Live Band performance, Backing Tracks, Original Songs, Sock Monkey Album Old albums and inactive stuff are kept elsewhere on backup drives . All are backed up to the 3rd (G) drive as well as an External drive whenever possible. I will date the new Folder, example _ "Original Songs Feb 24 2019 " after I copied it over to the BU drives. When I need to use the laptop I hook up the external drive and I copy over the latest version of the "Album" that will be worked on. Note: Now that Album is stored in a minimum of 4 places! I work on the songs and save them into that same folder and when they need to go back to my main DAW I simply Re name the Album folder using current Date'. I then copy it to the external, and then copy back to the E drive of the main DAW. I could now choose to delete the older folder but I usually don't do this until my (250 GB) SSD E drive is passing 60%. The Laptop is used for live recording and right now is living at my partners house over the winter. He is laying down all his parts ( audio only) to our 65 song "album" . I am also working on some of the same songs so it will only be a matter of copying his audio tracks once he is done back to the main DAW. The Sony I use in the Family room to edit and adding some additional instruments like Mandolin. Because I cannot authorize certain VST's I will just freeze synths first and save a special copy in a different folder marked as such. But if you can it is well worth the effort to fully load up your Laptop with everything possible as this also serves as a solid back up in case your main DAW goes south. If not, it's a minor hassle to either ignore all the warnings about the missing stuff and then just swap them out with what's on hand. I didn't freeze some songs and therefore I didn't have AD2 on the 3rd laptop so just swap it over to SI drum kit or even Session drummer. I actually liked one song better with SI drum kit.. now that's weird.
