About Me

  1. This is a great track! I like the video - added to my daily playlist on Spotify!
  2. Just wanted to thank Noel and team for playlist changes. That was huge for me and it seems to be working well. Also really like the take lane record options.
  3. It certainly does @Noel Borthwick. It could be my imagination, but projects seem to be loading much faster too rendering the pre-load unnecessary. The end result is that there is no glitching and zero waiting between songs. Projects with 40+ audio tracks, fx and midi control data are loading in 1 to 2 seconds! The first project in any list loads a little slower, but that has always been the case and is obviously not an issue. The discard changes works perfectly too. The playlist is back in action my friend! Drum replacer is also working like a charm. Thanks Noel - awesome job!
  4. @TenfootDoes the new playlist option to not load the next project in the background solve your glitching problem?
  5. Hi friends! I just wanted to make you aware (in case you aren't), about a series of videos I have made aimed squarely at beginners I hope you will find it helpful, and you can get going on your Cakewalk journey! LINK: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4ylp_4AhfKtyYYRWyp9B4v2CLm32__9P
  6. The workaround is feasible, however I don't think it's efficient. If you have 8 synths, you need to embed 8 sysex banks, since 1 sysex file can only be sent to 1 port. Multiply that with templates you have. And it's not backward compatible with pre existing projects. Imagine if I have many various project files that I open daily (I use playlist to play projects in sequence often). Using CAL was the most simple and efficient workaround, however I don't think CAL will work in x64 environment. At least, I never be able to run CAL files since I move to x64 years ago.
  7. Actually, speaking of "other songs," if you guys are interested, here's a link to the Spotify playlist of the album: (Minus the bonus tracks, however - they're still exclusive to our online store version)
  8. Say you have 3 songs in a playlist. If you set a delay for song 2, it looks to me like it doesn't do anything but wait during the delay between song 1 and song 2. Then when the delay is over, and song 2 starts to play, it seems to then load song 3. I hear some glitching while song 2 is starting to play as a result, and I have a very capable laptop loading off of SSD. Shouldn't it be loading during the delay so as not to interfere with song 2? Maybe Tenfoot's suggestion would solve this but wouldn't it be better to also have it load during the delay?
  9. I too have experienced what Tenfoot describes above about playlist load glitches and would like to see his suggestion considered. Thank you.
  10. Hi All! Sorry if this is a noobie question. I'm on a laptop and finding it quite cluttered the screen. Is there a way of just getting the sequencer / playlist and inspector up and having everything else (console, piano roll etc) vacant and bring them up when I need them. I just want the mixer when I want it and the piano roll when I want it. Thanks!
  11. I don't mean to sound ignorant, but what is the Playlist feature in Cakewalk? Has it been around for a long time?😏
  12. Thank you. I will have a look at what you've said / suggested. All's I want really, quite straightforward, I just want the sequencer / playlist viewing when I'm wanting to sequence, the midi editor (or is it piano roll in Cakewalk?) viewing when I'm editing midi and the mixer viewing when I want to mix. I like to just focus on one thing at a time. That's how I like to work.
  13. This has been resolved for the next release. There is a new read only mode for the playlist.
  14. This would make an interesting playlist! 🙂
  15. Ok, ok! Fine. I'll buy their album! (Actually, just did. It's in the playlist right above Magma's Zess that I got yesterday. 😁)
  16. What would be a really helpful addition is to allow Cakewalk to open a file in a read-only mode, perhaps via a command argument e.g. sonar.exe -readonly "C:\songs\my very bad song.cwp" In read only mode, the save changes dialog would never appear, and changes would never be saved. Of course this could be dangerous without understanding it's meaning, but I doubt anyone would set this switch unless they knew what it did. Would be fantastic when using other programs to manage a setlist though.. (Maybe some element of the UI could change colour in read only mode, to make it obvious) I tried using the playlist app again the other day - wasn't very successful. I send midi data to control outboard gear when I load a backing track, and having two projects open at once seems to foul this up..
  17. Sorry I didn't see this post sooner cuz I've ranted a few times about it. Would love to see this fixed. I don't know if it was mentioned, but I'm pretty sure automation also causes the dreaded asterisk to appear. Seems like all that is needed is to play the playlist and ignore changes, automation, etc - maybe an ignore checkbox or something. I've jumped thru hoops to get around this problem by creating Autohotkey scripts to load projects on the fly instead of using playlists, but it's not an ideal solution.
  18. No problem, thanks for bringing it up! I was about to give up on ever using the playlist function again. Looks like there's reason for optimism. Can't wait to try.
  19. What if we never modified the project while playing from within a playlist? Would this solve the issue for you?
  20. Pretty sure you can set 'Midi Automator' up to automatically click on the 'No' button in a confirmation dialog, if it's present, when changing songs... haven't tried it myself though. Agree it'd be good to get an update to the official app though.. as the official app uses the API, it can preload songs in a setlist for quicker changing. Are the details of the API available? I might be interested in creating an open source project for this, if they are. Or maybe Bandlab would consider open sourcing there existing playlist app, so we could add an option to always close dirty projects without saving?
  21. bad kick.wav Zetta kick is what happens before and bad kick is hat happens when I drag the kick onto the playlist Zetta_Kick13.wav

  25. My favorite music player app is Pulsar Music Player - Mp3 Player, Audio Player. When you click on shuffle, most music apps use an algorithm where some songs play a lot, and some songs very rarely or ever play. When you click shuffle with Pulsar it will take all the songs you have on your device, and create a random playlist, so every song will get played. I have a couple of thousand songs on my phone, and once it plays all the songs through, I just click shuffle, and it creates a totally new order. There is a free version, and a paid version. The paid version adds an equalizer. Other than that they are the same. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rhmsoft.pulsar&hl=en_US
