About Me

  1. nice guitar picking theme, good song! Your voice and the overall atomsphere reminds me a bit of The Sea and Cake.. if you don't know them have a listen! keep it up!, Peter Ps. an untuned string at 2.40 ;)... Ps2. after 2 listens it went straight to my 2022 Playlist! thx!
  2. Matthew, I don't quite get how you're doing this. In your screenshot, do you have all those tracks containing backing tracks, vsts, etc loaded as one Cakewalk project? Could you show us a screenshot showing expansion of the backing track folder and one of the song folders? Are all those songs loaded into memory at one time? If so, wouldn't it take a lot of resources? On the other hand, if they're not all preloaded, wouldn't there be loading delays between songs? What's it look like if you scroll to the right in your timeline? Would it show one song after another? I've got my own system of using Cakewalk live which is completely different and involves a combination of Autohotkey and CBB playlists, but always looking for something better. My method relies on the playlist deleting the last song as the setlist plays so that only one song is in memory at a time. And the playlist loads the next song ahead of time to avoid delays between songs. Anyway, I'm very curious how you're doing this. Thanks.

  8. Here is why I believe this is not by design. After loading a project from the playlist. Open the "Save As" dialog from the main menu. Notice how the dialog is abbreviated. It looks like the "Save As" dialog called from the Playlist except for how the drop downs are populated. Close the "Save As" dialog. Close the playlist. Now open the "Save As" dialog again.
  9. I’m happy to announce that Cakewalk is getting the attention it deserves from industry professionals! I encourage you to watch the video above I did with Warren Huart of Produce Like A Pro. 10. Simple Minds - Sons and Fascination (Full Album - YouTube Playlist)
  11. I'm trying to make my first beat in cakewalk. I downloaded NI Komplete Start bundle, Configured my wav sample library and installed ADSR sample manager which i use to pick and play back wav samples. I've managed to create two midi clips- a piano chord progression and flute melody using Komplete. The piano was the first and is at the top of the playlist, flute is second on the playlist. Now to lay down some drums. I inserted ADSR sample manager as a new instrument. Picked a kick drum and lo and behold before I even program the kick. It's being played by midi from the flute track when i press play. I programmed some notes on the kick and it plays back fine but soon as the kick notes end it's being triggered by notes from the flute that play after my kick drum midi clip.
  12. That's so sad. I've purchased a LOT of his music over the years. I've got most of Tangerine Dream's catalog and some Ash Ra Tempel. Going to have to pick up his latest (Deus Arrakis) when it drops on 10 June just because. What a talent! RIP Klaus. Time to build a TD playlist on Amazon Music.
  13. What you call "playlist" is actually "Track View." The Playlist is an entirely different window in the "Save As" menu.
  14. It's been a long time coming, but this song is now out on all good (and bad) Streaming services today. https://open.spotify.com/album/4KJSEpK8awp8GEy25XKOsE?si=fuTTTA1xSzu9uww-iZhmpQ&utm_source=copy-link I haven't been pushing it very hard, but it's been getting spins on internet radio. I'm hoping it will make it onto a playlist or two. If any of you guys want to give it a listen, it'd be much appreciated 🙏
  15. I didn't check that. But, I'm pretty sure thats taken care of with this fix. I was actually holding back on the automation because of this issue. Since, its been solved, I'll try making an extremely automation influenced genre soon. After all, that is the best method of testing. This does not always happen. Its a 1/2 probability case. I have been keeping the sharp jumps a bit early than required, to compensate that. From now on, I don't have to. Will let you know how it goes after a while. I had problems while trying to Copy Special. Will note them during my testing. I have also be making notes on the things that I notice that can be improved. As of now, these are the first three suggestions I have written down: Automation Curve Point to control the curve. Right now, we have to right click and can only choose between Jump, Linear, Fast and Slow. (Can also be considered for audio clip fades. Duplicate the selected automation by CTRL + D (Like any clip) Copy the selected automation by holding down CTRL and mouse drag. Wrote those down just in case if they will be considered soon. There will be a separate post in this forum focused on automation improvement suggestions soon. I already have around 11 videos showing music production on 10 subgenres of EDM. Here is the playlist. Here is the entire playlist with production of other genres. The early ones might look beginner-ish, 'cus I was a beginner back then. I haven't mentioned the problems I have been going through to get to the final result in those videos. That is one of the reasons I had to make the last video. To stay true to my viewers. And also as a desperate attempt to keep using CbB, by getting the attention of Bandlab. I was wondering if I should make a video showing the fix that you shared. But decided to just share it as a youtube post, since you said the following. Oh, I would like to mention something I noticed. In that video, I had asked the viewers to comment down their problems with Cakewalk. One of the issues that popped up repeatedly was the absence of a sampler. Even though not deal breakers, I'll be posting a few suggestions that I think Cakewalk needs, to be "up-to-date". If and when those features get implemented, I might do a video stating Cakewalk as THE best free DAW. Cheers -AdK
  16. I like the Brak reference! I used to watch Cartoon Planet in college -- so much randomness. Regarding the building of these fart art songs, I can't speak for Mr. Farts, but I know the guy who made the one I linked to, and they are often made with loops. There's actually more to it than you might expect -- well, not the arranging, but the process. The "songs" are a fun break from real work, and often each one is an exercise in learning a new plugin (whether a demo or just bought). Since these songs are not intended to be released (most aren't, but a few did get online), there's no pressure. It's easier to experiment and try new things when it's not a client's project nor is it your own music (which can have its own pressure of trying to make it special). It's a chance to get back to the fun of making music and mixing where there's no pressure or expectations whatsoever. It doesn't have to be good -- just funny! So these short goof-off sessions are fun and experimental and useful for exploring what new plugins can do. The songs are typically shared with just a few guys who appreciate this kind of stuff. The guy rambling is his brother (and it's been chopped up to be more random), and then it's sent to him under a facetious label name and he gets a bill for the remix. It's all in fun and leads to a lot of laughs. Here's another one (they all have the same artwork), this one features the Dmitry Sches Tantra plugin later on in the music to add variety. I figure most of you know about the plugin already. It works surprisingly well to create background rhythms. The one after it in the playlist is a remix of a construction kit that was a Gospel-style groove that got ruined (or made funny) by sound effects. It features a number of well-timed farts, which reminds me of a band I used to be in, where a couple of the guys had what we called "active gas on command", where they could fart at almost any time. Fortunately they usually kept it under control during gigs, but practice sessions were something else. And there's some road trip stories...
  17. Back in the old forums there were statements made about the lack of videos made using Sonar suggesting its unpopularity. Well, there have been a plethora of quite recently uploaded video tutorials on YouTube using Cakewalk By BandLab. For any newbie coming into these forums asking questions, I think a sticky should be made of these videos which are very informative. Below are a few YouTube channels I've found. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwqZ0GPSfFgbc8gLCxaYngRGVvlaf57gI https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLSfPaEe4wG_TxprjqVLxh9yAH-zGhA8bH https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDkWv3OTMpOHb2hMjuNWBQWyuhhIF6bHj https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeySI9gLWqezjlplGQqTJyhrbvCvKdzTk
  18. Synth audio track - an audio track with its input set to a synth plug-in MIDI track Instrument track - a combination of the two basic track types (Audio and MIDI) presenting the MIDI input controls and audio output controls. This track may be split into its underlying audio and MIDI tracks. Conversely, an audio/MIDI track pair may be merged into an instrument track. A synth plug-in requires at least one audio track and one MIDI track or an instrument track for a complete routing in a project. 19. You've got some great song posted there. I added you to my Playlist. My sort of music I guess.
  20. Just turned 69 but I forget the what that means now? I used to know. Great song I don't often listen all the way through but today there seems to be a lot of great songs posted and this was one of them I just had to finish. I can hear a lot of Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen in here. The ending was perfect. Oh, now I'm enjoying your whole playlist!
  21. So basically, Spotify won't tell you you're on a playlist (that you might not even know about) until it gets 25 listens? That seems rather shady. Why not? It's not like they have to cover admin costs to do it. It's all automated. What is the points of holding back stats? On the app, if I look back in time it shows me 4 of 17 playlists. that's 13 playlists I dont know about. Do all the other streaming services operate this way? Deezer, for example? I've had music on Deezer for years and have the grand total of zero plays. Is that because no one has listened or because I haven't reached a threshold?
  22. IIRC you need at least2 listeners for the playlist to show. If you're on the app it's 25 listeners.
  23. @Bill Phillips Yes sir. Those are great ideas for sure. Everything you outlined in the post above are great editing techniques. I think though, that the OP is asking for a way to avoid copy/pasting clips around the timeline but instead, 1- Highlight a part and add a marker. Call it "Marker one-Verse" 2- Highlight another part and add a marker. Call it "Marker two- Bridge" 3- Highlight another part and add a marker. Call it "Marker three- Chorus" Then have a Marker module for ordering these parts Vs. having to copy/paste everything. Almost like a playlist within one song. A playlist for each individual part/parts of the song. And be able to arrange that playlist of parts to create different arrangements. To audition what would sound best.
