  1. There is no need to double-click to engage Write Automation, just click and move the fader/slider. After you hit Stop the track should automatically change to the edit filter 'Automation->Volume' where you can edit automation nodes. You can also use it's automation lane for editing. Cheers.
  2. Tempo refers to a Project not to individual tracks. When using 'Insert Tempo Change' you have two options; to change the existing tempo at the 'Now Time', or to insert a new tempo at the 'Now Time', you can also insert any time in the box. You don't have to select tracks to insert a tempo change. This is normal when using 'Insert Tempo Change'. For example if you want the chorus to be a few BPMs higher than the verse. If you want to create a series of tempo changes, for example to gradually speed up or slow down, you can use 'Insert Series of Tempos', but I find it easier to use the 'Tempo Map' under 'Views'. You can easily draw a series of tempos using the 'Draw Tool'. You can also insert and delete tempos with the tempo map. Cheers.
  3. For me double clicking on a midi clip opens the piano view centered at the now time where I performed the double click. For example if it is a long clip and I double click at the end I will see all midi notes at the end of the clip. You can set this in Options--Click Behavior--Double Click--Midi Clips--Piano Roll. Cheers.

    Cakewalk clips pane

That looks very strange, like step sequencers layered on top of each other. You could try selecting all the clips in the track, right click and select "Bounce to Clips". This will restore it to one clip of midi data. Or maybe open up the Take Lanes to see what's going on?
  5. On track 10 the power button for the effects bin is not on, could that be it?
  6. You would have to be able to route each drum element to a separate output in your drum machine, for example kick to stereo output left, snare to stereo output right, hi-hat to aux output left, clap to aux output right. Then patch those four outputs to four inputs of your audio interface. If your unit does not allow for this then recording each part separately is the only way. Cheers.
  7. Arm the track for recording, insert an eq plugin into the effects bin or use the Pro Channel eq, engage input echo, set up loop points, press play (spacebar) not record (R). Now you will hear your effected live input signal while looping without recording. Cheers.
  8. I'm not sure what you mean by the MIDI is contained within the VSTi, you must create midi data to trigger a VSTi, therefore once you drag move all midi data from a VSTi track there will no longer be anything to trigger it, you can't freeze it since it's producing no sound. You can either drag copy (Ctrl+Shift+drag) the midi data to a new midi track or duplicate the midi track and change it's output to Addictive Keys. Then you will have two identical midi tracks, one triggering EZ Keys and one triggering Addictive Keys. Next Archive EZ Keys, there's no need to freeze it because you're only going to mute it anyways. Freezing is used for playback of tracks that use high system resources so as regain those resources, Archiving is used to store a track as a safety precaution in case you want to revisit it later. Personally, as far as VSTi's go, I never use Instrument tracks, I prefer to use separate midi and synth tracks, a midi track triggering a synth (audio) track. Cheers.
  9. Maybe this is why I was never able to get Vocal Sync to work properly, I always ended up going the old fashioned route of cutting and dragging to line up vocals. I'll try using it again with smaller clips, thanks for the tip!
  10. Personally I would first try dragging the clip of your guitar recording into the timeline and CbB automatically generates a tempo map. If that doesn't do a good enough job try using Audio Snap. Select the guitar clip, activate Audio Snap by pressing Alt+A, click the power button on the Audio Snap palette. Markers will be generated at each transient, you can adjust how many are generated by the threshold. In the Tempo field of Audio Snap click on 'Set Project From Clip'. This will generate a tempo map for your project. Melodyne can also do the job but I haven't tried that. Cheers.
  11. Do they change panning positions at the same moment in the timeline? Could there be some pan automation written? Try playing back with the Read Automation button disengaged in the Control Panel to see if it's automation that is causing it. Do you use a midi controller?
  12. Hi Anthony, when opening a view CbB puts it in the MultiDock by default. To float the view right click on it's tab and choose 'undock', now you can move it to another screen. If you want to put a floating view back into the MultiDock click the view’s icon located in the upper left corner of the view and choose 'Dock in MultiDock'. Cheers.
  13. It looks like your keyboard is four part mulitimbral, and you want to record as if two pianists are playing. To record two independent parts of the same instrument do the following : Create a midi track and set it's input to channel one. Load the piano patch into UPPER1 and record. Next create a new midi track (or duplicate without including clips) and change input to channel two. Load the same piano patch into UPPER2 and record. UPPER2 is defaulted to transmit on midi channel 2. I am not familiar with your keyboard but you may have to set it up for multimbral playback. Good Luck
  14. Hi and welcome back to the forum. To me the after bounce waveform looks like it has been normalized to 100%, which is definitely strange. From your screenshots I noticed you have the automation lanes button engaged (it's lit), have you written automation for the track? Maybe try bouncing without the automation lanes engaged? Before the bounce did you have overlapping audio on multiple take lanes? I just tried something similar on my system by changing the edit filter to 'Audio Transients' on a acoustic track, moved some transients around, right clicked and chose 'Bounce to Clips' and the resulting waveform was at the same level as before. There wasn't audio on multiple take lanes and no effects in the bin though. On your before screenshot it doesn't look like you made any audio transient edits so I am not clear as to why you were bouncing to clips from that view. Sometimes when I can't figure out a problem I insert a new audio track ( not duplicate) and Ctrl+ Shift Drag the clip to the new track. Afterwards I drag any effects over and delete the original track. Good luck!
  15. The easiest way is to drag the clip into the timeline and a tempo map will automatically be generated. Cheers.
  16. I've been using Cakewalk for 25 years and I have to admit that I've never used either the Fast Forward or Rewind buttons! It seems like they are designed to work like a tape deck, only the time counter (Now Time) doesn't update. When using the Now Time Slider in the Transport the Now Time is updated in real time. This slider moves in 1 measure increments/decrements. What I do is assign key strokes by binding 'Go to start of this measure' and 'Go to end of this measure' to the comma ( <) and period (>) keys respectively. It's a fast and easy way to navigate a project, especially when recording with a guitar in your hand! AFAIK if you want to move in smaller than 1 measure increments/decrements the FF and RW buttons are your only options. Cheers.
  17. Right click the Control Bar and choose 'Dock Control Bar at Bottom'. It will stay there for all projects. Cheers
  18. You're looking at the Bus Pane that has been expanded to fill the whole project screen. If you hover your mouse near the top just below the timeline the mouse pointer will turn into an up/down arrow, click and drag the Bus Pane view down. Also at the bottom of Track/Bus headers is a little arrow where you can toggle between the Bus Pane and Track Pane. Cheers
  19. By any chance was the synth rack or plugin browser undocked? To me this issue sounds like there is some conflict with your graphics card. Have you tried installing it's latest drivers?
  20. The 2 sides of the meter represent the relative volumes of the left and right sides of the stereo field. With a mono signal panned in the center both sides should remain equal. When panning you will see the left and right segments react accordingly. This is called a segmented meter and is the default, however you can change this in Preferences under Customization -- Audio Meter. This would indicate the the signal is panned to the right with too much gain. If this problem is part of the recording it would be represented in the stereo waveform. If it's a mono recording and the waveform is not clipping then it seems to me that there is gained applied somewhere and it's panned to the right. Obviously you would hear it coming from the right side unless you are monitoring in mono. Other than that I'm not sure what could cause this behaviour. Good luck.
  21. I believe it's best practice to check the record button in the Mix module of the Control Panel before engaging a track to record. If it is lit red that means a track(s) somewhere is/are engaged for recording. Either click on it or press Ctrl + R to disengage so as to ensure no tracks are armed for recording, then arm the track you want to record. What you suggest is to have the option for tracks to behave the way Take Lanes behave, ie. you cannot arm multiple Take Lanes of a track for recording. Seeing that Take Lanes are programmed to work in this way I see no reason why Tracks couldn't have the option to do the same. Maybe right click the Record button in the Mix Module to choose between 'Record' and 'Exclusive' recording modes? When in Exclusive mode the button turns into something similar to the Exclusive Solo button? However I'm so used to checking the Mix Module that I probably wouldn't use it. I record in mono, stereo and at times multiple tracks at once. Cheers.
  22. I just tried it on my system with the same result, I think this is a bug, the workaround is to select the Groove Clip -- go into the Clip Properties Inspector, under Groove Clips de-select looping -- then re-select looping and a message about hidden data will appear -- click ok and the Step Sequencer will behave as expected.
  23. Is this happening to all your projects or just one? Did you try bypassing all plugins? Try archiving all tracks except one, if it runs fine unarchive tracks one by one to see where the problem may be? Maybe uninstall then reinstall CbB?
