  1. Good track Jack (a rhyme, who'd a thunk?) t
  2. Shot a polaroid as Armstrong stepped down, the flash washed out the picture (duh!). I was so bummed... Love the tune. t
  3. Hey Super, found the Just Tuning read quite interesting. A buddy of mine talked about a Pedal Steel Player he worked for years with, and the Pedal player called it "Tempered Tuning". In short, he did not tune to the digital tuner across the Steel. The third, fifth and sixth were a few cents "off". I think that Auto Tune, Melodyne, and click tracks (meaning locking everything to the grid) is what has "sucked the life" out of modern music. In the so-called Minor Pentatonic scale, employed by most Blues players, the flat or minor third really isn't that. Its in between the minor and major third; for me this is the "blue" note, but scholars disagree. But I digress... t oh and a final note, this General Discussion section is where threads go to die. I know the Coffee House can get a bit rambunctious, but at least folks on the forum would find the thread.
  4. "There's nothing you can say that can't be said" and that said, your tune was, as always, much enjoyed here! t
  5. Nick, enjoyed the video, glad the studio is sorted. I know how frustrating it is when things "just ain't right!". If I have to use the left side of the my brain solving problems, the right side takes a powder for the rest of the day... t
  6. Nice use of delay on the vocal. Sweet guitar work. If something jumps up and bites you add it. If not, the tune stands on its own just as it is. I hold the "thumbs" and "applause" for the final iteration... t

Not my genre, but I did find it interesting. Welcome to the forum. t
  8. Not my genre. Little heavy on the kick drum, but probably correct for the genre. Welcome to the forum. t
  9. Got lots of space... Thanks for the advice on the machine count. t
  10. Do I bite on this one? 8DIONEWSLETTER gets an extra 15% off. What is the difference between 8Dio and SoundPaint? I jumped on a SoundPaint deal and the receipt was from 8Dio. Inquiring minds want to know... t
  11. Much enjoyed Lynn and Markno. 👍's 👏 Kind of abrupt on the ending, but I guess that's in keeping with the subject matter. t
  12. Aqualung is sad, and although the "young" man and the "old" man, in this story, are not the same man; its kinda similar; no? 👍's 👏 t so now lets talk crits. and this is hard because I can't do some eq and move some faders as an example. mid's: there's a lot of mid buildup here that takes away some clarity. I'd start by "high passing" all the guitars If a simple high pass does not "clean" up the lead guitar, I'd put a little more top end on it. I used to have a GSP 2101 guitar processor and the Warm Sweet Solo patch sounded great on its own, loved it! In a mix, way to mid rangy and lacked definition. Now as to the "lines" the lead is playing over(under) the vocal. Its not uncommon for the guitar to "follow" the vocal line (think Voodoo Child Slight Return here). That's not what I'm hearing and I found it a bit distracting. Deal breakers? Of course not, just little things to "tighten" up the production....
  13. 👍 👏 t Check out the free Youlean Loudness Meter, should help you "tame" the level on this.

Fixed! Ditto 👍's 👏 t tried to "like" and comment over at YouTube; stupid google, I'll have to check my login creds. PITA!!
  15. Late to the party here. I'll just echo the comments above. 👍's 👏 t <rant>for no extra charge you can like and comment over at BandLab, just sayin'!</rant>
  16. Yes, the build instructions for the "vintage" Strat show using a 7.25 radius gauge to set the saddle arc properly. The "Modern" Strat evidently is a 12" radius, but a thinner neck; neither "optimum" in my opinion. BTW, I've never used a radius gauge when setting up a floating trem; IMHO it isn't necessary. t this is the problem when building, too many options... Just a note; the '59 Les Paul neck and the '54 Tele appear to be very similar in size and shape; IF the Stew-Mac Neck Shaping Templates are to be believed...
  17. @Gremthe Wilkerson kit looks pretty bulletproof to me. I have one build to my credit (based on a Carvin neck). I finished it with the Stew-Mac aerosol cans. (I should post a photo). The nut was “high” and required cutting the existing slots deeper; the fret work was excellent. Pretty sure the fret work on the Wilkerson will be spot on. Read, re-read and read once more (RTFM) the instructions. I haven’t downloaded them yet, but I’ll take a look and make sure I’m not giving you bad advice. The pick guard is prewired so all you have to do is screw it down. No brainer if you want a 50’s correct Strat. t The only bugaboo that jumps out at me is the 7.25 radius, that would be a buzz-killer for me. No one plays a 7.25 on purpose anymore. (those who love to reach up and pull your strings down to the fretboard may flame me now ...) here is that pic:
  18. @AndyB01its right here or @mark skinneryou really need to link to the vocal version from here... t
  19. I'm sure this does reflect the inner turmoil in which you feel yourself embroiled. I think we all "feel" what must be most excruciating for you. We are here for you when you need us Wooks, our hearts go out to you. t take care my friend, sometimes life serves us up choices, none of which are easy...
  20. Had a re-listen to Sunrise Funk first; still love it. But, this takes it to the "next level"! Love the Cello. That would work! Great work Mark and noynekker! Just hit the drums out 👍's t
  21. The parrots live in what I call “The Birdie Condo”. It’s a free standing shed, 10’ x 12’ with a 16’ x 16’ roof. There are cages indoor and out, (about half the outdoor cage is covered by the roof) with a crawl thru so they can come and go as they like. It was built because I had 2 blue and gold macaws and one of the yellow nape Amazon living in the front room. Chaos, just as Baps described. t
  22. Clapton and the lads getting back together? 🙃
  23. Prepare the ads now (if you have someone that can handle it. In my case my daughter). Cull the stuff you really don’t need (I’ve been working at that some). My biggest concern is the four Amazon parrots that will surely outlive myself and my wife. A parrot is basically like a case of herpes, they never go away…. t
  24. Had the same experience a week ago Saturday at a “celebration of life” (although he and I had nowhere near the same relationship as in your case). Suggested she try Reverb.com. Boxing and shipping amps and guitars is a pain (why I passed on helping). there’s a message here for all us “hoarders”! Just sayin’…. ”loss”; is it something we ever get used to? t
