About Me

1. I am also a jerk, but the discussions on the (old) forum about ripple editing were so intensive, that there is always a red light blinking in my brain when I use it. But I really like that the new indicator is here and that it is even a on/off button! It's great!

7. Glad that CbB has added the Ripple Edit indicator
8. I would like to have a "snap together" ckoice in either rightclick menu or the toolbar clips menu in track view. Exampel: You have two or more samples of sound. You drag them from the browser in to the same track. It's different sounds like a train and a purring cat and a squeking door etc. They are also of different length. In the track you can shuffle them about and test what sequence would be best and which would stay and which would go. If you could highlight all clips and do a "snap together" on them that removes the empty space between the clips you are able to listen to the clips without annoying pauses. Added 9 jan. I can do this manually by use of the settings: Snap to clip (landmark) Ripple edit all. Then i can either mark the empty space between two clips and use the delete key or just drag clips together. I suggest in the rightclick, edit submenu, to have a "snap" command. It would snap together all clips that is selected and be a timesaver. PS. All my clips is already at zero crossing. Others that isn't would probably think that consecutive clips would sound bad. I'm aware of that but do it anyway. They have to learn sometime. Added 10 jan. Removed the j-word that were added the ninth.
9. Hi again:) Instead of Snap it's possible to merge all clips together to one clip and then "Delete Silence" with Ripple Edit ON. In conjunction with Keyswitches it should be very fast to do this.. Hope that'll help... Bassman.

11. I am not sure you have explained this very well. Do you mean that you want the edges of clips to automatically butt up against each other non-destrucively ? Isn't this what Ripple Edit is designed for ?
12. OK, I've done my edits and it went nice and smooth using that Ripple Edit setting. When I tried to apply Gain and/or Normalise (selected all clips) I noticed that the clips moved around a little bit and messed up the flow of the interview. I solved this by combining the clips into a one solid sound file. I used Bounce To Clips -command. (Click the Track view Clips menu and choose Bounce to Clips). After that I had just one file to put some Gain on and no problems. Export to 256 kbps mp3 and project done! Do you guys know why the clips moved around when applying Gain or Normalise? It seems weird.
13. Ripple editing is what you're after: https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=Arranging.22.html
14. Hey Bob, I have found that the best way to learn new apps is to just dig in and and try to what you want, then google what ever stumps you. I then write it down in a little note book, but I rarely need to go back to the note book 'cause writing it down seems to increase the chance of it getting it in long term memory. You'll find everyone here wants to answer your problem no matter how trivial, unlike many other forums where a simple question can get you some not so easy to understand answers just to belittle your question. ie...Google> Cakewalk how to activate ripple edit and the answer magically appears. Otherwise ask here and you will always get good answers and answers to things you thought you knew, but dang if there ain't someone with a better way. Good Luck
15. Congratulations to the Cakewalk by BandLab staff for the new forum so beatiful. But now we all Cakewalk veterans are expecting more. From long long time we're waiting for a button for Ripple Edit active on/off. And we're waiting also for a way to stop the song where we want to do so. Come on we know you have the technical power to make it. Go on!
