    Grid lines

I set the Snap to a shorter note duration to get more gridlines, for both track and piano roll views.
  2. I have never had a problem with the stability of the VX64 vocal plugin. The deeser is decent and I often use it, it being handy for being able to listen to just the potentially offending areas. The delay and doubler are handy being right there, too, but use judiciously as they can be overkill. I never use the saturation or compander in there.
  3. No - I do not believe this is possible and have seen other posts in here about this. Happy to be proven wrong by someone, though!
  4. Late to this but searched for a similar problem. I opened a project from 2012 that had many Region FX with V-Vocal. I no longer have V-Vocal. So the Region FX clips were not playing when playing the tune. I don't know why this works, but: Bypass audio FX (the FX button) Select entire track Bounce track into one clip on the same track Ctl+Z to undo the bounce Unbypass all audio FX ...and then the Region FXs were all gone. Of course, the vocal tuning was gone, too, but not an issue this time for me.
  5. With the Smart tool on, hover over the heart/middle of the midi note or make a selection of multiple notes with the Select on (then go back to Smart Tool). Then Shift + Right Click. The notes become outlines in appearance only. To get the notes back, do the same thing. Or: You Press F10 twices and the Erase Tool on the Control Bar turns to M for Mute. Then you click on the notes to mute. It also works to then choose the Select tool and do multiple notes at once.
  6. I think the vocals are good - I would consider bringing them more forward in the mix.
  7. I'm also grateful for the past five years with free Cakewalk. (I purchased Sonar only a few months before that, but overall, it has been a great deal). Perhaps what's coming "Next" was announced too early; it's been hard to wait to see what's "Next."
  8. They Might Be Giants would buy this tune from you. Well done, always interesting throughout.
  9. Great job. Beautiful song.
  10. Wow I never knew this about the active track. This explains a lot, including me pasting clips into the wrong places, countless times. Thank you.
  11. I almost exclusively use this Reverb plug-in, too. I find it's important to do the Abbey Road technique for it, rolling off the high and low frequencies.
  12. I have been appreciating your video series. A lot of the information I already know but they serve as a good refresher - and who knows, there is always something I don't know that I pick up on. Thanks again.
  13. I'm excited, too - but when it comes, will stick with what we have now for a while... ...at least, while all of you figure out the bells, whistles and bugs of whatever is coming "Next"....
  14. Darn - maybe someone else could chime in, or that you report it as a bug or something. Hoping for a solution!
  15. You could check: Track View >> Options >> Drag and Drop Options >> is "Slide Over to Make Room" selected?
  16. Lots of moods and lots of fun. At first the melody sounded like the Cruella De Ville theme from 101 Dalmations. Terrific playing!
  17. It is not a magic solution but in addition to room treatment, you may wish to consider room correction software like SoundID/Sonarworks. For me, having the full room and headphone version brought my mixes to sounding better a little faster. Still, it meant relearning my monitors and headphones!

    The Song

Nice inviting intro to let the listener into the song. Nice harmonies in the chorus. Nice drop out for the lyrics stayed at the back of my mind part. One of those tunes that either elevates one's mood or let's them accept some sadness - or both!
  19. Maybe there is something there very low and the settings set to display activity of increments of 6dbs aren't showing anything? Otherwise, I'm sorry but as far as I understand, you can't add what is not there. You can reduce what's there (subtractive EQ) in a frequency range. You can boost what's there (additive EQ) in a frequency range. Maybe someone will correct me and I will appreciate that.
  20. Haha, I have bad luck. Purchased full Sonar a few months before it became free as Cakewalk By Bandlab. Now, maybe have to buy it again... (Not bitter, it will most likely be worth it).
  21. Check to see if the Post button on the track's send is off. That means the reverb is on no matter the track's fader or even the mute button (I think).
  22. It is not as technically correct as the other suggestions above, but another way is: Send those buses to another newly created bus, and pull down the fader on the new bus to taste...
  23. Just here to say after reading three pages of comments, it is impressive how many people trying to help out here. I have also found problems becoming more common and it is frustrating. At least people want to assist. I wish I knew more to chime in.
