About Me

  1. Element v0.38.0 Posted on July 26, 2019 by mfisher Element v0.38.0 is now available. Get it on the downloads page or in your account. Changes in this version: Nodes now also shows original plugin along with the user defined name. MIDI Program Map Node – Now remembers window size between loads. Moved “Programs” context menu to “Presets -> Factory for clarity.
  2. Element v0.38.0 released - see second post +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++= Element v0.37.0 is now available Posted on July 19, 2019 by mfisher https://kushview.net/article/element-v0-37-0/ Get it on the downloads page or in your account. Also Summer Sale! 75% off an Element Perpetual license. Coupon code KV75. Buy Now: https://kushview.net/element/pricing/ Changes in this version ADDED – Ability to zoom in/out of the MIDI Program Map internal node ADDED – Looping parameter to Audio File Player Could already loop, but this is the addition of an automatable parameter to control loop state on or off. BETTER – Removed “Graph Properties” Menu Item. No longer needed FIXED – Problems with MIDI mapping + multiple devices (see below) FIXED – Mappings still showing N/A instead of special params (mute, bypass, enablement) MIDI Input/Output Subsystem ** The MIDI IO subsystem was rewritten in this version. It was needed to resolve bugs where mapping would break if the controller was selected in the mapping window as well as a normal MIDI input. IMPORTANT: The plugin version of Element can no longer open MIDI devices directly for mapping. The old method causes MIDI to stop working when the Host also has the same device open. However, mapping still works in the plugins. In your host application, just make sure it is feeding MIDI to the Element instance that is using mapping features.
  3. Two more virtual steel guitars to add to the growing list of virtual steel guitars. Tod's midi steel guitar: $149 US Requires full retail Kontakt. https://todsvirtualinstruments.com/product/tods-midi-pedal-steel-guitar/ I get the feeling you program your midi track to hear what you want. I think this is a difficult virtual instrument to play in real time using a keyboard. But, you can dig deep and get anything out of it that a steel player can play. Pedal Steel Guitar by Wavelore. Normally $299 US; on sale for $149 US until August 10, 2019. http://www.wavelore.com/products.php?product=WLPS Old library that requires Kontakt 2.2 or higher.
  4. Took a trip usa and came back to lad cakewalk by bandlab today and the splash screen comes up and nothing. I launch inside the bandlab assistant and get a message cannot load cakewalk try as admin. Ive changed nothing in my window 10 system. I unistalled and downloaded the lastest version and get the same result. Maybe windows 10 updated as of aug 1st 2019 and is causing issues. My abiliton live works fine so its got to be a software issue with this company. Hope you can fix soon. I was just getting into this with my new arturia minilab keyboard. But if not ill move on.....
  5. Resolution: I think this is more a case of the color attribute being mis-named. (The color I wanted to change is located elsewhere in three or four separate attributes for MIDI, Synth, Audio, Bus, Folder tracks). Rather than "Unfocused Track Text", this attribute should be named differently - and perhaps "Global Color #10" is appropriate 🙂 Original Post: [2019.07] The "Unfocused Track Text" color (IDR_CLR_GLOBAL_10) does not change the actual unfocused track text. Instead, it changes the Help Module Text, Track View Time display, and others: I've reported this as a bug.
  6. Here's what... When you have a mic cable unplugged from a mic but plugged in to the interface and crank the gain up you can see a little hum. I don't think this is a problem. It goes away when I plug in the mic. But the recording I made on 6/30/2019 definitely had hum on my quietest ribbon. Here's the thing... it wasn't constant. It comes and goes. It is more faintly apparent on the other mics. http://gswitz.blob.core.windows.net/tunes/20190630_ChrisVasi_xx_hum1.wav http://gswitz.blob.core.windows.net/tunes/20190630_ChrisVasi_xx_nohum1.wav So, either as I adjusted and moved mics the hum showed up or there was some power supply issue in the house. Maybe it was the AC Unit? It was present for most of the recording. I can't actually find a problem in the rack of gear. One thought I had, it's probably a good idea not to leave the snake plugged in to channels you aren't using. Yes? No? It's a nice convenience, but I'm not sure it might introduce unnecessary risk. Is this stupid? Is it fine to leave it plugged in? This is the mix of the recording. http://gswitz.blob.core.windows.net/tunes/20190630_ChrisVasi.html The ribbon it was hardly apparent on had a shock mount and the ribbon it was loud on did not have a shock mount -- it was screwed into the mic stand that was firmly on the floor (probably hard wood with a thin rug but I'm not sure now).
  7. I had done that and it didn't do the trick. If you search mfc120u.dll in Google, the results boil down to "Make sure you install both Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86 and x64)" and a link to windows. I initially installed Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019, but every search result on the 1st page points to the 2013 version (and these posts are from 2018) and makes no mention of the later versions, so I installed the 2013 version also. It seems utterly counterintuitive to install 6 year old software when later versions are available, but...
  8. In version 2019.07 (Build 70, 64 bit) I'm having issues bouncing audio clips together, in the track view. On a single track, select multiple audio clips, right-click, then Bounce to Clip. What I've seen several times, since this upgrade, is a long bounce time (30 seconds or more), followed by an audio dropout. After that, everything runs really slow, and its not possible to restart the audio engine. While I can still save just fine, the app has to be restarted in order to work properly again. Thanks for checking this out
  9. This issue is fixed in Hotfix Early Access 1 (2019.07 build 72). I guess it will be officially available on next week via BandLab Assistant. Ofcourse you can also install Hotfix EA1 manually now.

  17. I have tested it on two different computers and I had exactly the same result: Cakewalk didn't detect the Play.vst3 plugin and REAPER crashed on the first scan but let me use the plugin after re-opening the program. Windows 10 1903 Cakewalk by Bandlab 2019.07 PLAY software 6.1.2
  18. Not sure if retaining this installer after the next production release has merit. It is not production and may only be applied to 2019-07 build 70.
  19. If you save installers and in this case it is easy because the installer is a direct download, the full version number is part of the installer name. In this case the installer is Cakewalk_by_BandLab_Update_Setup_25.07.0.72.exe. This is the installer for Version: 2019,07 (Build 72, 64 bit) where 25.07 refers to the version and the trailing 72 is the build.
  20. Many good deals https://www.sweetwater.com/shop/imsta-festa-atl-2019-promotion/
  21. For those experiencing the problem with project load in 2019.07, please go ahead and try the new Hotfix Early Access build here:
  22. And here's another which I finally caught. It's not unique to 2019.07, but annoyed me for years now. Would love to see this fixed. Short Description: some VSTs get all MIDI ports selected on the corresponding MIDI/Instrument track as a MIDI In port after the track is armed for recording. Reproduction steps: Insert one of the problematic VST synths in a new project. Create a corresponding MIDI/Instrument track if not created automatically. Notice that by default the MIDI In on that track is set to None (Omni). Arm the track for Recording. Expected: Typically, the MIDI In port of the track is then switched to "All Inputs - MIDI Omni" Observed: For some synths several MIDI ports are selected at the same time which looks like this Known VSTs affected: All NI synths (Komplete Kontrol and Maschine 2 are especially hurting in that regard) Adam Szabo's JP6K and Viper TAL U-no-LX-V2 chipsounds (but chipspeech is fine) AudioRealism ABL3, ADM (but ReDominator is fine) Novation V-Station Cakewalk z3ta+ VST known to work fine: LennarDigital Sylenth Reveal Audio Spire U-he Diva, Repro-1, Repro-5 AAS synths Xfer Serum Cableguys Curve 2 Cakewalk Z3TA+2 This behaviour is consistent on my machine, i.e. it survives reboots, CbB restarts, is independent of the project and project template. Also while testing, I noticed that SonicProjects OP-X PRO II crashes CbB on insert - it's working totally fine in Komplete Kontrol though. But KK is affected by the weird MIDI Input ports issue.
  23. @Noel Borthwick : I have checked the clip issue above, both with the EA2 and the final 2019.07 release and I am sorry, but it is still present! An additional observation to this issue: If it happens, then first the clip start time disappears in the properties and then when I click on the clip to refresh the properties the clip disappears, i.e. I noticed that it only jumps to the beginning of the project: "01-01". The unstoppable play thread is definitly coupled to the Focusrite interface/driver, because with the Behringer UMC404HD it did never happen! But nevertheless, the new release is really the best Cakewalk we ever had! It makes me really happy that so many take lane/comping issues have been solved! I also like all these copy 'n' paste improvements and these lovely, obvious selection markers! Thank you Bakers!
  24. Yes, sorry wasn't at my workstation to post the screenshot with my original post. Here's the screenshot: Here's the reproduction: Start CbB - it loads the Normal.cwt Open an existing project from the Start Screen (in this particular example, the project was created in 2019.05 but I think it doesn't matter)
  25. Totally agree with everything @Craig Anderton said, but ironically the August 2019 issue just arrived here and doesn't appear to include his regular Cakewalk column. This is not unusual; I think each of the seven (7!) major DAWs take turns missing a "workshop" column each month.
