About Me

  1. Still one of my favorite video games... https://www.gog.com/game/diablo Description: Now with Hellfire! Originally developed by Synergistic Software and released in 1997, Hellfire was not an official Blizzard product and did not carry Blizzard’s endorsement or label. Despite that, in response to Diablo players who have expressed a desire to experience the content, Blizzard has given the OK for it to be included as a free add-on with Diablo purchases on GOG.COM. Hellfire offers a non-canonical single-player storyline where players must defeat a powerful demon named Na-Krul who is threatening Tristram. The expansion also adds a Monk class, new weapons and items, new missions, locations, dungeons, and enemies. Hellfire will be accessible while launching the original Diablo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Traveler, stay awhile and listen... Darkness stirs beneath Tristram. An ancient evil sweeps across the land, plunging it into civil war and terrorizing the populace. A mad king, his missing son, and a mysterious archbishop are all pieces of the puzzle you need to hack through. You have journeyed to the source of this evil. The town of Tristram - now inhabited only by a handful of survivors, broken and twisted by the madness that has befallen them. A cathedral stands there, built over the ruins of an ancient monastery. Eerie lights and ungodly sounds are heard echoing through its abandoned halls, and that is where you shall venture. Embark, if you dare, on a quest to destroy The Prime Evil… Experience the legendary action/RPG that influenced an entire genre. Storm Diablo's halls as either a Warrior, a Sorcerer or a Rogue - each with unique skills and abilities. Unite to destroy Diablo - up to 4 players can band together via Internet, or play head-to-head via LAN. Unprecedented replayability - over 200 different monsters inhabit Diablo's ever-changing labyrinth. Equip epic items to conquer fearsome bosses and their minions. A spine-chilling story - experience the horror of a world held in the grasp of The Lord of Terror. Ahhh, fresh meat! Travelers looking for the authentic Diablo experience can play the game as it was in 1996, with period-appropriate 20 FPS SVGA graphics, and the ability to matchmake through the classic version of Blizzard’s Battle.net® online-gaming service. For those wanting something a bit more modern, Blizzard and GOG.COM have collaborated on an updated version of the game tuned for today’s gaming PCs, which includes out-of-the-box Windows 10 compatibility, a host of bug fixes and high-resolution support via aspect ratio-correct upscaling. The most voted game on the GOG.com wishlist, finally trapped in a DRM-free soulstone! Return to the beginning of this dark saga, now in digital format for the first time ever. Better value than Wirt's wares, guaranteed. ©2019 Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. All rights reserved.
  2. I'm having a conniption fit over here. That's treating your product as a public beta. No wonder SONAR got a reputation for being a crash test dummy. BandLab seem to be running a tighter ship. You know, developers hate shipping software with bugs in it, it's like if we shipped a master with unwanted digital clipping in it or a dropout or an accidentally muted track or whatever. To me, this would be like if every record shipped with 5 different but similar mixes/masters, and not the "dance remix" or "2019 remaster" but the one the drummer did while the rest of the band was out buying brownies at the dispensary, and the one that the guitar player and his girlfriend liked, then the one that the producer and the record company liked, then one that had a killer feel but Don screwed up on that one part but they left it in, then one that everyone thought sounded good but the hi hat sounded ice-picky in the car, and the consumer is supposed to pick whichever one works the best on their system. If the "Don drops a clam" mix sounds jarring, try the one with the forward guitars. Don't sound good? Try the one that's all drums.

  4. Here's more important info for those still using V-Vocal. After further testing I found that with 2019.03 and 2019.05 the first V-Vocal clip many times is a problem and after that it's fine. The problem can be a blank V-Vocal screen or a crash. I've found the best method is to first disconnect all softsynths in the Synth rack, save the CWP, close CbB, wait 6-10 sec then Double click the CWP. With this method I'm getting no crashes or blank screens with V-Vocal. None of this may be necessary if you don't use any soft synths. In my situation I use a lot of soft synths and as long as they're disconnected V-Vocal behaves. I think it has something to do with old 32 bit plugins or programs only being able to use 4 Gigs of RAM even though you have a lot more RAM. The reason I think it's this is because when I disconnect all synths I end up with 3.8 gigs of RAM and V-Vocal works ok. With them connected I have 6.1 of RAM in use and V-Vocal crashes. AS far as the pausing after closing CbB and then reopening. I think this is something that's universal with CbB. It seems to need a few seconds to gather itself before restarting CbB. I experimented with how much pause is needed and for me using a fast SSD boot drive it's about 6 sec. If CbB is not open wait 10 sec more then Double click again, but don't repeatedly double click without pausing. I've done that and it can go on for minutes. Once I've gotten past the initial crash or blank screen right after disconnecting softsynths, then I've had it do over 50 V-Vocal clips with no crash. So if you use my method above, you should almost never get a crash or blank screen.
  5. Just caught this one, but more fodder why forcing out updates isn't necessarily the best thing. https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2019/06/08/microsoft-windows-10-upgrade-update-security-problem-warning-cost-windows-10-home/amp/
  6. Please edit your post to reflect the true author of the quote address. On 6/7/2019 at 10:37 AM, Starship Krupa said: Never could understand why a person would expend so much time cutting on something they have no intention of using or don't like. Just go have fun doing whatever it is you like to do, unless it's DAW bashing lol. Starship Krupa never said this.

  9. Hi! Just for additional options, there is also another free Convolution Reverb, "Convology XT". I downloaded it a while back and has great presets. Of course, it depends on your taste. Here is the link: https://impulserecord.com/project/convology-xt-plugin/ Link to a youtube video/tutorial: Also, I'm not sure if it's allowed to mention it here, but Waves is giving away their reverb plugin "TrueVerb" for FREE until June 21 for all Presonus (sorry to mention other brands) email subscribers. Check out the info here: https://www.waves.com/account/trueverb-free https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/studio-one/2019/6/8/get-a-free-waves-trueverb-plug-in-simply-for-being-a-studio-one-user I apologize in advance if the info I shared here are not allowed, with all due respect to the forum rules. Sorry also for including so much links
  10. Forum member @CosmicDolphin and I have been conversing about an idea he originally suggested in this thread January 03, 2019: CosmicDolphin's idea is for users to have the capability to select the size of the character font used in the browser "Notes" tab window. Presently the browser "Notes" tab window character font is one size while the window is in focus and a smaller size when the window is out-of-focus. The out-of-focus character font size can be too small to read on large or high definition screens. Allowing the user to select character font size would enable the user to choose a font size that fits their unique needs. I would like to see a font size button added to the "Notes" window. Clicking on the font size button opens a drop down menu. A suggested location for the font size button would be next to the existing "File Stats" button. The screen shots below demonstrate what I'm saying.
  11. Listen please everybody. I know you're just trying to help, but it's not happening. I'm finished with music. It's nobody's fault, it's just that I'm not talented. TVR is right and Tezza is right. I can't sing and it's too late to learn. All of these years I've been deluding myself into thinking I had musical talent. I don't. Yesterday and this thread were just a wake up call. It's been too important to me. There are other things in my life I should focus on, so I guess this is a way of getting my attention to that fact. My music has been just another form or masturbation. I can't even get my family to listen to it. Other than my wife and and a small handful of people on this site, I'm the only one who listens to it, and that's sad and pathetic! I've spent so much time and money on it over the years and it's nothing but frustrating. It's become a monkey on my back instead of something I enjoy and this is a part of it. It's time for me to re focus on more important things in my life. Facing reality is sometimes a cruel slap in the face. Well, June 6, 2019 was my wake up call. My music is dead. It's like losing a friend or a family member but I've lost many family members over the past few years. I'll get over it. You're right. I have no musical talent. Thanks for pointing that out. Now I can move on. 😀JB Chuck-Sorry you wasted your time.
  12. So I've been an avid cakewalk SONAR used since Sonar 4. One of the things I have always told people that I love about SONAR is how it hardly EVER crashes. Well, last night during our weekly recording session it crashed 4 times when attempting to open a project. It then came up with a fatal error and asked if I would like cakewalk to attempt to save the data. I said no because I don't want to risk corrupting anything. It crashed again. No biggie, I thought. I'll open it in SPLAT. That now crashed too. I think I have had maybe 2 crashes of SPLAT in the 2 years I have been using it. This happened on 3 different projects. This is frustrating. Any ideas? I have a music only computer (made by studio cat... has been running perfectly for about 4 years) running an i7 processor, windows 8.1, updated as of a couple months ago. It is only connected to the net long enough to do either windows updates or daw/ vst updates. Running the latest version of cakewalk 5/2019. Also, when I tried launching the bandlab assistant to do the latest update, I would just get a white rectangle and nothing more. I opened task manager and found 4 instances of the assistant running. After ending those, I was able to open the assistant again, but had to re log in. Thanks

  14. I used BIAB on two different songs for the guitar solos. Even the real guitar players on those collabs thought the solos it generated were more than adequate. Of course that meant I had to have the Real Tracks verson of BIAB. I too ratcheted my way up to Ultra+. FWIW, I tend to skip every other year for the upgrades. I'm on 2019 now.
  15. It's an invaluable tool as Grem says. There was a long thread on the old forum which you might find useful... http://forum.cakewalk.com/Band-in-a-Box-2019-out-now-m3801686.aspx
  16. FWIW, I've built high-end Audio/Video workstations professionally for the past 25+ years. 😉 Even with a i9-9980xe (18 cores), 64GB RAM, RTX-2080Ti, and M.2 Ultra SSDs as both work/cache drives... After-Effects is still slow. 😁 FWIW, For apps to import advanced edits perfectly, they'd have to support ALL the features of the other software (identical). Even for something as simple as fade-in/out, the fade types and contours have to be 100% identical... or the conversion isn't 100% accurate. If you're familiar with Samplitude Pro X, you're aware of its Object based editing/processing. BTW, I wrote the English user's manual for Samplitude 2496 (v5 I believe). Reaper offers similar features with its Item-based processing (cherry-picked from Samplitude - myself and numerous others lobbied to get that into Reaper) Pro Tools 2019 (Standard) doesn't support processing per-Object (Clip). Pro Tools 2019 Ultimate does offer processing per-Object, but it's limited to their Channel-Strip and Dynamics (no 3rd-party processing per Object/Clip). Most DAW applications have no similar feature. With advanced edits/mixing, there's no way I'd trust OMF or AAF to get 100% of the details 100% correct. Far too much room for error... Far too many variations between applications...

  18. Hello there. It used to be (say, a year or two ago) that I could have a different sorting method for the right-click plugin insert menu in the track view, versus the plugin browser. I would keep the track view right-click menu set to a particular concise layout I've created with my most-used plugins, while maintaining the "sort by manufacturer" setting in the browser to have access to all of my plugins as well as any which I'm demoing or otherwise don't wish to have in the concise plugin layout. I remember that this was a bit wonky, in that the browser layout would periodically revert to another layout (or something, I'm not remembering it exactly), but it worked well enough. I'm currently on the latest version of Cakewalk (2019.05), and it seems that the browser menu and right-click menu are both always set to the same layout. Is this how other people are experiencing it? I would like it if we could go back to having the different menus sort independently.
