  1. Even though I can't put my fingers on it, this is a very appealing song. Is it the lyrics, your vocals, that organ, all of it -- ? I don't know but I do know that I like it. Well done!
  2. Frigid, frosty, and absoflippinlutely downright Cool!! Luv it! To these old aural receptors (AKA ears) it has a wee bit of a early Gang of Four touch. In my book that is very cool. It is my new favourite from you.

    SILLY OLD MEN

Hey Jesse. Many thanks!!! Really liked your recent post! Hi Bjorn. Thank you - your comments are very much appreciated! As to the vocals, I recorded 3 separate vocal tracks. There is the lead vocal and a high harmony throughout the song. A low harmony was added in for the choruses. There was no intent on my part to transpose anything. If it sounds like it. then that probably is more a function of my timing problems. ☺️ Hopefully, it worked out? Hi Makke. Thanks very much for listening and for the kind words. Hey Douglas. Thanks for taking the time to listen and thank you for the kind comments! Much appreciated! Hey Hidden Symmetry. I'm very glad that you enjoyed it! Thanks very much for listening and your comments! Hi Bert. Wow thank you very much! I am glad that you liked it and thanks for the kind words!
  4. GREAT STUFF!! Shame on YouTube! The message as delivered by the the lyrics, audio, video, and performance was excellent! Well done!
  5. Creepy, kooky and cool indeed!! This was 2:28 minutes of enjoyable listening.
  6. This is a great urban country rocker! To my mind (or ears) it sounds great. I do not like to comment on the mixes since I do not know what I am talking about. However, being one who loves small venue live music (sadly interrupted during the past couple of years) this genre seems to beg for the live action feel. IMHO you have gotten a good balance between the live feel and a good mix.
  7. Jeff above referenced a radio station to which he used to listen. "Back in the day", I used to listen to alternative music on our local university radio station (before the university shut it down). I guess that might be one of the reasons that I enjoy your postings. Another reason is that your stuff is so cool pal!!
  8. As always this is an excellent piece of work Nigel! A brilliant combination of messaging, visual artistry and aural mastery. Your website is most impressive also! It is informative (e.g., the pieces on promotion and tips for independent artists) and is laid out perfectly to encourage the viewer to explore your products. Quite a lot of talent is expressed at a number of levels. Well done indeed!!

    SILLY OLD MEN

I guess everyone has been subjected to the past few days of constant "Breaking News". Well --- this prompted me to look for a song that I did a while ago and I actually found the working file (an oddity for me). I dusted it off and made a few tweaks as it seemed appropriate for today. The mix is still a bit rough and I would appreciate any comments, suggestions, crit.'s, etc concerning this song and statement! Many Thanks! SILLY OLD MEN! https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandid=963481
  10. Aaah Jesse you have again captured life. Particularly the past few weeks - internationally. You know I always appreciate your stuff -- as do I this one!!
  11. I like it. It sounds like a perfect piece as background music for a cinema or TV mystery. spooky or other production.

A most cool funky jazz sound. You captured a laid back feel traveling from Sears to Montgomery Wards for sure! Very nice indeed!

    Half moon

Very nicely done Makke. Your guitar work is excellent and you have a nice light touch in your playing. Oh ya, just the right amount of 'verb! I always take pleasure in listening to your posts. Nice one!!!
  20. This song got a tremendous amount of air play and you do a wonderful job in this cover. I agree with Anders Madsen above, the BGV's on the side are rather good. The vocals are excellent and ya, the bass player did an excellent job in carrying the song along. Excellent work!!!
  21. Hi Paul : Sorry for the delay in responding but I had a few of life's demands to take care of. Wow, thanks very much for the very kind words!! This is very much appreciated as you are certainly one that puts some great emotions, thoughts and melodies into your work. Thanks again! Hi ant_in_Wales. Thanks very much for listening and your comments. My mum used the term woozy but I didn't remember the meaning and had to look it up. Now that I know the definition, I can't disagree with you. I have really been captured by the recent spat of AfroBeat music that has been coming out in Europe, the UK, and particularly in some of the South American countries. Each has their own signature but tend to follow Fela Kuti (the "Godfather of AfroBeat)adding their own prescription of funk, Latin sounds, jazz and traditional African music. I have a number of bands/orchestras that I really like but I have been using Newen AfroBeat (from Chile) as a template in learning this music. Unfortunately, for me, they use a lot of instrumentation, percussion, etc. Also - unfortunately, I still struggle with MID/sampling/etc. instrumentation. What all of this means is that I am still trying to improve in this style of music (tempo and tempo changes, mix, instrumentation, panning, volume, EQ, etc., etc.). Therefore, I very much appreciate your suggestions and will continue on my path to improving in this style of music. Thanks again!
  22. Hi Jack. Message received and it will brought out front more. Thanks for the input. Hi Nigel. I think that we are starting to build a consensus here. Good observations and I will be making changes. Thanks much for taking time to listen and for the input. Hey Steve. Thanks for listening and for the insight. I have redone the bass with a few changes and brought it forward a bit more. Hi David, I am glad that you liked it! Thanks for the kind comments but I think I'll give Nashville a miss. I wouldn't want to embarrass myself 😉. Hey Wookiee. Thanks for the input! I believe that we have reached a consensus and I am in complete agreement! I have redone the bass and brought it forward (a bit). In addition I have adjusted the drums (traps and congas) and pulled them back a bit. Hopefully, now there won't be as much conflict between the two. I have also brought forward (a bit) my homemade mbira (AKA - kalimba) in hopes that it might sync with the bass. I have also panned a few of the instruments differently. Hopefully, this will be a bit better. Thanks very much again. Hi Mark. Good comments and insight. I did adjust the guitar panned L. Hopefully, this helped. Thanks very much! I appreciate the help! Hey Douglas. Yes it is a bit different for me. I am really "hip" to afrobeat right now. Especially groups such a Newen Afrobeat and Kokoroko. However, it is going to take a lot of listening on my part to approach what they are doing. Thanks very much for listening and commenting! Hi tom. Many thanks for the comments! I guess I just might have been born too late (hmmm -nice title for a traditional rockabilly song). Thanks again!! Hi Bjorn. Thanks for listening and your kind comments. I agree that it was too messy. I do better with about half a dozen tracks but this one had much more than that. It gets this old man too confused. Hopefully, the changes made above have improved it a wee bit. Any additional comments on the mix would be greatly appreciated!
  23. Your song lyrics are always packed with emotion and the melody on this song really carries the emotions along. The lyrics and melody are also very catchy. It was a treat to listen to this!
  24. This is an outstanding piece of work!! I am talking about both audio and video. The Fx on the vocal give a real dreamy effect to the lyrics and song! My son is an animator for Sony (a rigger) and he tries to explain to me how things are done. It mystifies me. I am also transfixed as to the quality of your videos and how they blend with the music and lyrics. Absoflippinlutely, great production and performances!!!
