  1. You can set up a buss and route all other tracks to it pretty quickly. Then just lower this playback buss as needed. I've run into similar situations with very high end interfaces, it's typical that your reference level needs to change from existing tracks playback level to input record level, and keep the ganged playback level referenced to the input - happens with analogue console / tape systems as well.
  2. Audible clicks can sometimes comprise just a few samples, these can usually simply be cut and - or rendered at a significantly lower volume. These are generally not audible with -in the context of a track. If it's a solo instrument - or very upfront, there are a few other tricks to help mask them. Generally though - as Scook said - a short crossfade can save the day. Personally - I think CbB has excellent editing tools, the quick, splitting, moving, cross fading, time stretching alone is better implemented than most other DAWS. Once you learn a few easy key strokes.
  3. Correct - with no quantizing - the resolution of timing is greater.
  4. I think an essential trick to taming Piezo pick-ups is to use a transient designer to temper the initial transient a bit. Sound transmission in most solid materials is exponentially faster and more efficient than in air . The balance isn't natural sounding as it is acoustically. I've tried a few acoustic body IR''s - and essentially the ones I've tried capture a resonant honk of an acoustic body. Using the 2 together and tuning them carefully can give a pretty good mic'd sound.
  5. Craig Anderton has an excellent article on mastering in Cakewalk. His Tips and Tricks publications is a great resource. Here's a bit of a primer. https://www.soundonsound.com/techniques/mastering-in-sonar
  6. Actually - I wasn't sure how to do a fan boy accolade for a particular plug - so this is my attempt. I have a lot of pretty high end plugs. I use Fab filter, Izotrope, UAD plus host of others. My plug register count is over 900 and I just want to speak up for what I think is the best multiband plug I've ever used with the Sonitus version. It just works and the interface - though it may look a little dated - gets the job done quicker and with better graphical feedback than anything else I've used. Curious about other opinions on multi band comps.
  7. I've seen issues long past where you might delete a synth and not delete it's associated audio tracks - then when re-inserting the same synth the tracks associations could get confused. I've seen issues - ( again in the past ) where deleting a synth could re-assign the deleted instrument audio tracks to a different synth . I haven't run into this in along while - so maybe one of the updates has made this more stable - or more likely I was just being stupid about something.
  8. Have you deleted then re-inserted the same synth ?
  9. I have 900 or so plugs show up : About 70% have been pulled up to see what they're about : about 15% have been somewhat actually tested out. About 5% actually get used regularly.
  10. I would second the method using the Piano roll view. Right click mouse drag from upper right to lower left across the notes in the chord will quickly select all notes then drag right to left to shorten them. - Or if you have a large selection of continuous chords to change then grab as many chords as you can and use the same method. If this needs to be done across the entire track then select all follow the process length method.

    Windows 11?

I wish they would steer the Gui back to using text instead of Icons.
  12. I got a small pixar like looking little lamp - it poses by itself sometimes.
  13. Panning is a standard control number for Midi. It should send the same message I would think. You could monitor the fader outputs in flip mode via the event list to see what specific controllers are sent. Just place it in record and move a fader at some useful interval such as every 4th measure so you can back track. - or get something like Midi-Ox to monitor.
  14. I think the better fix for this ( at least in the console view ) would be to exchange the pre-post fader switch to the effect bypass switch. Setting up pre or post fade is a very purposeful use that doesn't need a quick glance IMO. But Effect bypass should be readily visible. and easily automated.
  15. I looked through the keyboard shortcuts and did not find it. I know it was "E" because of how often I hit it on accident and spew a choice expletive. Now that it appears to be gone - I don't want to unlearn how to not do something I spent so much time not learning very well in the first place. 😐 Found the answer here though: 2020.04 Highlights Behavior changes Add Track menu behavior change: The behavior of the Track(s) counter has changed when inserting a multi-timbral soft synth via the Add Track menu. When Instrument Track Per Output or Split Instrument Track is selected, the Track(s) counter now specifies how many Instrument output tracks to create instead of how many unique instances of the synth to create. Changes to Delete Track: CTRL+DELETE deletes tracks. Delete Track only deletes the focused track if the focused track is not also selected. When a combination of tracks and track folders are selected, the context menu displays Delete Selected Tracks and Folders. Enable/Disable Enhanced Keyboard Editing Mode shortcut is unassigned by default. The default keyboard shortcut (0 on the numeric keypad) to enable/disable Enhanced Keyboard Editing Mode has been removed. To enable/disable Enhanced Keyboard Editing Mode, go to Edit > Preferences > Customization - Keyboard Shortcuts and assign Enhanced Keyboard Editing to an unused keyboard shortcut. Bypass All Audio Effects shortcut is unassigned by default. The default keyboard shortcut (E) to bypass all audio effects has been removed. To bypass all audio effect, do one of the following: Go to Edit > Preferences > Customization - Keyboard Shortcuts and assign Bypass All Audio Effects to an unused keyboard shortcut. Click the Bypass all Effects button in the Control Bar’s Mix module.
  16. Exceptional, what's just as amazing is his vocal tuning. The guy was a monster at the craft. I still want a Deacon 12 string because of this guy.
  17. Left click and drag in the timeline usually creates the selection. A single left click should place the now time. Maybe your mouse has a hair trigger on the left click button? - or it sticks? And keypad number 5 should clear any timeline selection.
  18. Midi tracks are displayed so you can use the console GUI to read and write automation - just like Audio tracks. The need for many is pretty basic - but I agree that it would be a good option for the case with multiple synth instrument outputs. I use Battery which - when inserted adds 16 stereo outputs plus auxs. It's just a lot of clutter when I use maybe 5-6 of the outputs - as with Kontakt and multiple outputs when I want to use a just a single stereo output. This is dictated by the synth and not Cakewalk.
  19. You're saying the peaks will be different ? Does that mean that the visual representation of the wave file is different - or are the numerical peak indicators actually showing different numbers? I just did this and the duplicated track remained the exact same.

Letter G . Here's a keyboard short cuts list: http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=KeyboardShortcuts.html#1306347 I think it locates to which ever the top line of the ruler is set to. So, if the top line is measures - it inputs in measures - if the top line is time then it inputs based on time. At least that's what a quick test seemed to indicate.
  21. The normalize function - ( I believe ) is processing on a clip by clip basis. I find that if I < bounce to clips > and go ahead and render the clips to single track - then most track based processes work with no surprises. If you're looking to have further edit opportunities with your cross fades - it's worth duplicating the tracks to try out the different scenarios first. Also - If you select the whole track and apply < audio process gain > , that's another way to raise the track level. Normalizing typically just looks at the highest peak value and then applies the gain function to the remaining signal. Because this calculating on each clip separately - I think this is why you may be getting a lot of different volume levels - the automated part of normalizing might not be working to your favor.
  22. Just curious - does the short cut automatically expand the track view header to visualize them ? If your tracks view is collapsed - you don't see them anyways.
  23. I thought these Forums were new and " fangled ". It's the closest I ever came to " social networking ". I might be a little older than you old farts though. Who needs young people - except maybe those other young people. Oh... almost forgot - get off my grass. This is definitely Coffee house fodder.
  24. I have the PSP42 - great delay- It's quite old now and is 32 bit. I don't know if they ever updated it for 64 bit. I used it on a recording just a few days ago. edit - dbl checked they are 64 bit as well.
