  1. Jesse, I always put the headphones on when listening to your songs because my wife always gives me the "WTF is that?" look if she hears it on the speakers. This song though I let her listen to it. And she likes it! Me too!
  2. t Doesn't sound rough to me. Vocal is great, maybe could use some reverb or something, maybe not. Very cool intro with the train leading into the song. "Barr the truth" I get shivers when I hear MLK speak - so inspiring. You looking for more lyrics?
  3. Lynn Love the sound of your songs - all the components that go into them add up nicely. I'm totally impressed with the sax played by your guitar! Seems like the voc was too low in the mix here so didn't get the full effect of the vocoder fx. Thumbs up on the song. Enjoyed it!
  4. Another professional production. Great video tho I think the song could stand by itself as well.
  5. That patented Freddy J sound. 😀 1:22 really nice thump thump thump not sure what else to call it. I've been liking your subject matter the last couple of songs. Getting into some human nature dysfunction stuff. I would never have thought of the term blackhole personality. That should be in the DSM-5.
  6. Tells a story in song. It's repetitive but in a good way, but varying with the chord changes That piano refrain really adds to the ominous vibe. Actually I think it is the ominous vibe. Still not sure what you mean by sine underneath. I'm thinking a drone-ish sine wave based pad in the background? Whatever, it works.
  7. Boy I was pleasantly surprised to hear this style of music from you. So impressed by your guitar playing. You really should do more like this one.
  8. Doug Not sure how you did the vocal treatment, but very effective. Couple of chord changes didn't work for me ~1:45 I like the line "my eyes won't listen to me" Very good melody. I thought the gtr accompaniment could be varied bit more. Thanks for posting another great song.
  9. Mark Your Bob Seger-ish voice is perfect for the genre. Absolutely love that harmonica. I thought the drums needed more variation. Totally enjoyed this. Thanks.
  10. Jesse, your songs are sort of like looking at a Jackson Pollock abstract painting and thinking hmmmmm.
  11. Got it. Thanks Larry.
  12. David, I like the exploration feel to the song, like walking around in an unfamiliar place seeing what's there. Something like that. Drums were bit too aggressive in one spot. It brought to mind Pink Panther for me as well.
  13. Abrupt beginning and ending. Great piano. Improvised? Might be out of sync in a spot or two. Really like that cool trumpet and the BGV ooooohs. Thumbs up! Good point. About the only music I listen to any more is mine or the music on this forum. And the music here is (usually) very good and diverse. The comments I make aren't useful most of the time, but I like to let the musician know that someone listened and liked their song.
  14. I agree that saying it in music is easier than saying it without music (except for making it rhyme). You do have a few layers of instruments in there. I thought they came in at the right places in the song, esp the organ. Mix sounds pretty good to me. Melodyne (?) glitch ~ 1:06

David Thanks for commenting on the elements. It takes a long time to find the right sound out of the many presets and loops I have. And then coming up with the right fx takes time too tho I've narrowed those down to a few favorites. amiller Thanks for listening and commenting. It started life as a pleasant atmospheric piece and then I found some disturbing (to me) presets and loops so I put those in there too. So yeah it's not totally creepy. Kind of leans in that direction tho.
  16. Is there an Arturia vst in there? Modular perhaps? I got into it after a while tho that locust sound became too repetitive. I thought a background pad could come in earlier. Glad to see that you're back on the keyboard and posting.
  17. Can't get enough of the Moranbong Band. Here they're singing about studying for the country. Click on the CC button lower right for the English translation. Have to say they're very good musicians but the songs are kind of creepy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycdDHP7QfWo
  18. Very good composition and performance! I really like it. Not sure what you mean by "hybrid staff?"

Thanks guys for listening and taking the time to comment. Appreciate it.
  20. I haven't heard that song in a while and I thank you for posting your version. I liked the strumming bit at the beginning. Seemed to flow into the solo (excellent!) nicely. Could use some more bottom as suggested above. Very nice job.

  22. Same impression here as above. Lyrics could be compressed a bit for clarity (though not much) and the tempo could be picked up a few. Or make some cuts in the ending which is somewhat repetitive as is. Vocal is very good and guitar is excellent.
  23. Sven This sounds so upbeat and perky until you pay attention to the lyrics and then you say wtf? And that's what's cool about the song. I can see this playing during the opening credits of a dark comedy like Harold and Maude, something like that. Nice to hear someone else with an off the wall sense of humor.
  24. Douglas Another great rock song though I have to say it sounds a bit like your others. Not that that takes anything away - I like the song and I admire the musicianship - but I think you could vary the formula a little. Love the guitar and vocal as always.
  25. Me Too on the comments above. The singer has an appealing unique voice but I couldn't understand most of the lyrics. Aside from that, very good production on the song. Sounds professional.
