Made some notes while listening Very good production - reverbs and delays sound great. Sounded a bit country in places. Love the chorus. Bass line - A+. Clear voc and blends well with instruments. Sounds pretty darn good to me. -Bjorn

Jack You have a lot going on in there and I like the overall sound. I just couldn't understand most of the lyrics and I wish I could. I'm thinking "Green Book" refers to the African-American travel guide from the 40s and 50's but I don't really know. -Bjorn

I know what you're talking about. Those 3am staring at the ceiling thoughts can be sobering. Not sure if the sudden stops in the song work. Maybe after the stop have a quick fade in to the vocal as the "thoughts" start up again. To me the vocal sounds like it was recorded during a live performance in a club or bar which I actually like. -Bjorn

Hey Steve, very nice love song and your voice is just perfect for the genre. I thought the voc track needs to stand out bit more. Also I thought I was hearing something like static throughout the song and especially at the fade out, like aliasing noise or something. But I should mention I have some hearing issues so that might just be me. That's the reason I don't comment so much on audio engineering stuff 'cause I just don't trust my ears. -Bjorn

Love the beginning blast off bit! Same as David, I got a moving thru space kind of feeling. Love the transitions as the journey continues. 6:00 change up is kind of abrupt, almost like a different song starting in. Gonna put this one in my top 5 Wookie hits. -Bjorn

John, I'm used to lyrics like you see in traditional poems - fairly strict rhythm, accents in the right places and words have to rhyme. Your lyrics don't follow the "rules" but the song sounds great anyway. Seems like there would be a lot of different ways to sing it. Do you do it the same way every time or can it come out way different once in a while? In my limited non-pro experience I've found that double tracking or a short delay like Lynn mentioned above is an effective way to thicken the voc. -Bjorn

I like the repeating refrain at the beginning and the bass line leading the way. I just picked up Cherry Audio 8 Voice synth but haven't checked it out yet. Will definitely do that after listening to this. -Bjorn

Barry Beautiful song, beautiful story. Since you asked for scrutiny I'll point out a couple of spots that stood out to me. 0:42 "hot" sounded glitchy Your lyrics came across nice and clear most of the time except at 1:19, 2:36, 3:47 where the words got a bit buried. I liked the part about the house your father built but I didn't catch the rest of the story. Putting that aside, you got the emotion through loud and clear. Love the imagery of snow drifts on a cold and silent winter night. Very effective string accompaniment too. -Bjorn

Very nice first effort David. If you're looking for free video stock check out pixabay.com. Pretty good stuff and all they ask is that you give a credit to the clip creator. Or a donation of course. I've used Vegas Pro for a long time but decided to go with DaVinci Resolve for a change. They have good tutorials, their forums are helpful and you can't beat the price. -Bjorn
