  1. Sounds great ! enjoy the sarcasm/appreciation in the theme. Put me back in the local blues club here where this would fit in and sound great and probably be a crowd pleaser. Love the guitar. The mix sounds great over here
  2. Hi Paul, Thanks for listening and for the feedback, glad to know you enjoyed it. Feedback is always so interesting, I like that its quirky and out there to you, made me chuckle. I am always curious when one of my songs conjures images, if you feel like sharing let me know. The lead vocal really does have nectar and another track with processing but yes they do sound dry. I need to learn more about that. Cheers back and thanks again
  3. Hi Larry T, thanks for listening and your feedback I appreciate the descriptive details and your very flattering compliments! It is always interesting to me to get feedback because I just do my messing around and then learn about it from an outside perspective like how you notice reggae and New Orleans in there. Great to know my mix is working well ! Believe it or not the lead vocal in nectar has some doubling and reverb etc and also theres a 2nd track i bring in at times that is heavily treated but it seems I am too light on these. I get how to do the backups better than lead vocals. I will keep learning. Thanks again, your words are very meaningful for me.
  4. What a great idea and a great project. You young guys wrote a good song and it aged very well. Sorry for the loss of your friend, I just lost one too. Very fun to know the story and watch your reunion version video. Loved the guitar playing, and it all sounds great.
  5. Sounds great ! very clean and the mix is great over here. Thanks for talking about what plugins you used.
  6. Hi t, thanks for listening and letting me know you enjoyed it much. Appreciate both !
  7. Thanks Bjorn glad you liked it! Yes I wanted the song to have a reggae influence I started it when a reggae musician acquaintance of mine died. I always struggle the most with my lead vocals they are processed but likely need a bit more something. I will keep trying! Thanks for listening and your feedback.
  8. Very complex, even for me to be sure which instruments you are using at times! I get the Zappa-ish vibe too. Makes me wonder about your process, it is very loose or very planned.

    Cold Wind

RealIy like this song, very well done! Sadly lovely all around. I like the light/ dark theme of the video too.
  10. Sounds great, I really love the low end. You manifested a good one here ha
  11. Hi Rik, Thanks for listening and your feedback. I appreciate both. I do have reverb on the lead vocal via nectar and also a 2nd track I bring in and out with reverb and other fx, I think you are right there could be more that what I used. I will listen to the miss u parts and see what the organ is doing then and listen with clashes in mind. Thanks again
  12. This was another one I would touch a bit for months and months but never had time to get into, so I have heard it a lot and had some time to get it further along so here it is. Feedback welcome as I have overheard this one too. Used addictive drums, a kontakt band reggae organ, si bass, Le Skank rhythm guitar, New Nation Blaque dark electric guitar that I really like, a mix of horns like DPro, alpine, vsco. Lyrics below, a bit of a vent song with a beat. Thanks for listening and any feedback/suggestions on the mix etc ! Puppets

Enjoyed this song, it has a sweet sadness to it. Enjoyed all the instrumentation, guitar and the vocals, nice job on the redo.

    Misogyny

Good song, I think the mix sounds good here, enjoyed the guitar playing and vocals. Good job
  15. Cordial greetings to you! Nice horns, nice interplay between the horns and guitar phrases, mix sounds good, very easy to see this as a piece in a tv series. Enjoy what you created from it.
  16. I am using the bx refinement on my vocal track right now and i like the saturation and presence you can add after the damping, it has midside and modulation capabilities too. I use melodyne to dees, i think it does the best job for me in spots that need it, the refinement is more of a whole track thing. I forgot i had it and this thread reminded me so i applied it and like it on the track.

    Inside Out

When you say a raw mix, do you mean you are still working on it? I think its got potential for sure. The sounds and riffs are good. I'm not real real familiar with the genre but when I do hear this type song it usually has some pretty boomy driving low parts, this is mostly mids and highs from what I hear on my system, but maybe that's how you envision it? I like the title and the lights in the video.
  18. Really well done, great song, great arrangement, love the vocals and the horns are very cool, all the instruments sound great and the story is timely and clever. As for any nitpicking, the body odor lady comes in a little louder than its surroundings when she comes in. I enjoy that addition, I just would turn it down a bit. Around 3:10 something with the horns sounds a little off, not sure if this is what you fixed after Lynn’s comment or if it is what he heard? I clicked on the version in your Thurdsay 10:26 post. Really very good song !
  19. Hi Bjorn, Nice piece, its very clean and balanced and pleasant. I like the instrumentation and pace. I think it would go great in a film at the beginning where a woman is wandering around a town center curiously looking in shop windows, a kinda whimsical stage before any minor drama might appear. A film where nothing goes terribly wrong or is overly sweet. Enjoyed it and my imaginary film ha.
  20. Hi freddy j Good work on the remix! Yes its clearer now. The only minor suggestion (since you said you are open for more) is that I would increase the volume on the guitar notes in the verses behind the vocals and turn down the cymbal (?) there a bit. I just really like the guitar and would like to hear it better, otherwise enjoyed the revision and again very good song !

    SONG: Mudflap

I think I do about half instrumentals, so I get it! Yes its fun for sure.

    SONG: Mudflap

Good song, enjoyed it. Do you ever sing on your songs? At the stop at about 1 minute, put some reverby or delay stuff in so it doesn’t seem like the song is ending. Like the unexpected changes of parts and moods, the mix seems balanced over here. Sometimes the guitar seems very slightly muddy. I agree with you calling it a jazzy, rockish song, at some parts more one that the other, and with some abstract bits too. I like the ending section work wish there was more of that. Good job
  23. Re Alzheimers part of this discussion....I think there's been research done about how music is really good for brains. I know it's good for me, and always more to learn. My Italian grandmother lived to just before turning 103, she got dementia at about 100. Still rode a bike at 95! When I would visit her in the care facility I would bring tapes of her son, my uncle playing and singing his accordion songs of their era and we would sing along even though she was pretty out of it at the end. Music is a special thing and I expect most of us here have brains full of it.

    Just Bones

Here are the lyrics, a request from a maybe fan Steve ha.. ps if you would hear my vocals before melodyne and processing you might feel differently ! Just Bones by Treesha deFrance Where do I find myself? How can I lose myself ? I need to fix myself Strip myself Just Bones, broke bones What can I say when words don’t matter? How can I pray when prayers just scatter? Up to the sky where I can’t fly No more fortresses to hide in, abide in, reside in The doors unlock from the inside Open wide No place to Hide Surprise Surprise Fates don’t ever fight about it They just like to win I’ve done all I can Done more than I can Battle weary Put down the sword Put down the shield Embrace my smallllllllllll self When words don’t matter When dreams get shattered It’s not giving up Just giving up Foolish dreams foolish dreams I’m so I’m so Just go (just go) Dream away

    Just Bones

Hi Steve, thanks for listening listening again I appreciate it and your commenting. I think I will post lyrics yes they are important to me. Nice to know what you thought was great and what suggestions you have, i have spent long months on this never finishing due to circumstances and I have no energy to take it on again at the moment! The pad you mention is strummed guitar and strings panned. I had the high hat and snare on a bus together maybe their balance was off. Thanks again!
