Is it possible to use a you tube video as a reference and if picked I can upload a project

I use the default menus and don't create any custom menus in the plug in manager but I used to and I know the time and effort I put in to making those menus. This is kind of a cool feature to have. It gives CbB another great depth at customization. That's what every DAW's greatest point is (customization). A way to use the DAW like you created it, similar to the music you make.

I see no reason why not. Cakewalk is simply freezing the old forums to a "Read only" format. Unless Cakewalk changes the URL Your bookmarks should work just fine.

That seems fair to me. To be honest this forum has been everything I thought it would be and then some. So I see no need to use the old forums except maybe to make one last post for old times sake. You guys have done a great job on the transition from old to new * Would like to see more sub-category's though.

Yep listen to the recordings before (very nice). You might be able to open her up and see if she can be fixed. Im leaning towards a belt (Capstan belt) though. The guitarist is right, it does change how recordings are made and gives us inspiration beyond words. Though so does "Start New project" in the digital domain. About 10 years back I went listening through a lot of my older tapes and realized my recordings were very clear, but for one reason in particular.. Less instruments clogging up the mix. Yes I bounced tracks but even good engineers can make bounces sound awesome (destructive but awesome). Once I had unlimited tracks at my disposal I became a pig. 10 vocals, 6 guitars, stacking drums. I had to go back to basics (like the good ole 4 track) and remember an engineers worst enemy... "Too much goin on" So for that alone I think the 4 track is amazing.

The belts are hard to come by for this machine. Tascam still sells belts (except a lot of their famous 4 tracks built in the 90s (the 424, 424 MK II, Exc, Exc). But don't see many old MT2X belts flying around much. This might help a bit. Even though its related to the MT1X is still pertains. Let me know how it works out. I still use multiple machines several of them on a daily basis because I do transfer work (convert 4 track cassette/8 track cassette/2 track, 4 track, 8 track reel to digital). FYI- Spell check doesn't do to well with the word "Cassette". am I really getting that old ?

The only one I know of is the keyboard shortcut "I". This hides/shows the Inspector.

Your lucky you got the tape out. in order to diagnose the problem the tape has to be pulled out (typically to unscrew the 2 housing screws/under the cassette). I've had to do this many time myself, however using a pocket knife is not my first tool of choice. I use a small flat head screw driver the grab ONLY near the pinch roller assembly is, this allows a rocking motion (remember the heads are still engaged). One can then use a finger to pull down the heads a bit and pop the cassette shell out. Just my opinion of course... but the MT2X are not a great multitrack recorder. If its all you got then understandably so, but if ever investing in a multitrack recorder find something closer to the early/mid 90's where they basically ironed out every kink in the transport mechanism. Because that's where 90% of the problems are in these old tape recorder.

Im more curious about where you got the Maxell XL II Cassettes. Your problem is trivial. the tascams of this era (85-88) switched over to a gear transport retractable system. this one I believe is belt driven transport (to start/stop the heads). Take it apart and lube any gears (stay away from belts with lube) the check all belt wear, slippage, damage. I own quite a few of these machines and im constantly doing work on them.

You can always copy another default pro channel and make a preset called AAA.Default (The AAA will make it show up first in your preset list.) Pro channel presets are one of my favorite features in Cakewalk.

One thing to note, I made a mistake when re making my project templates from Sonar to CbB. I used Track templates that were created in Sonar Platinum . I also started fresh with those as well. I was having some strange issues and wanted to rule out everything. It worked.

I DO have over 300+ Project templates myself that I've built up over the years, so I know how you could have that many. I don't use any templates though that I created in Sonar Platinum. Yes they work, but I have found inconstancy's especially in the show/hide track status. It took me a long time to redo my templates (not all 300) and I use about 30 give or take that I keep loaded, the others are in storage drive D. Maybe you could figure out a similar arrangement. (keeping your best 50 in the project templates folder in the CakewalkCore folder.

The first thing I did when moving from Sonar to CbB was update my templates. I know there is still compatibility between Sonar and CbB but I prefer creating something as important as Project Templates in the current release, not using old Sonar templates. So I choose not to copy over my old Project Templates from Sonar. On a personal note: I have about 30 project templates that do almost any job + or - a few track templates to use within these projects to modify them a bit. I cant see how 180 Project templates could be needed. It might be time to thin out the heard.

I could be wrong but are you trying to view the clip in the step sequencer ? If so... Right click on the midi click and choose "convert to step sequencer clip"

To toggle between the last 2 edit filter selections - Hold down the SHIFT key and right click. Unless im misunderstanding something, I don't ever remember TAB doing this function.

I would try a few things, 1- Try to create an audio track (as you did) then duplicate the track/check your findings 2- Try to create an audio track(as you did) then make a pro channel preset and try to load that to a blank audio track/check your findings 3- Try to create an audio track (as you did) then make a track template and try to load that/check your findings This might not help you solve your issue right a way but it may hold a temporary solution and eventually lead to why you can add instances of those plug ins. Did you try adding other pro channel modules or was it only those 2 that wouldn't load ?

I grew up listening to Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin. Then I took great interest in bands like Metallica and Alice in chains. But I loved artists like Jeff Buckley, Etta James, Nina Simone and Otis Redding. However, when I'm given the choice.. 90 percent of the time I would rather listen to brutal, heavy rock.

Check to make sure you don't have a locked Screenset or a Lens preset loaded

Windows 7 updates and Bandlab Win7/compatibility will probably be phased out soon (just as XP was). I wish you gents luck, I personally loved Windows 7. Im using Windows 8.1 with great results. Its a great topic, a flash from the past when many just didn't want to leave Windows XP, myself included. Im not a big fan of Windows 10 but I will be upgrading soon. there's just no where to go holding on to older versions of windows. Even when Compatibility is there, strange things happen like White screens, oddity's, exc.

I use what Scook mentioned 90% of the time. But if they are a permanent fixture in your mix, you might want to look in to "Control groups"

Are you using any screen sets ? If they are locked, unlock them. It could be a corrupt Lens. Try opening Manage Lenses and see if you can edit "None. I'll take a look at it in a bit and try to get back to you.
