  1. Another class rocker from you. I love the power of the guitars on this and you have done an excellent job on your vocals. I must say that one thing that I really appreciate about your music is your lyrics. Topical depth and power chords --- what a match!! Excellent stuff Bob!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. This is a bit different for you. I really like the strong sound of the intro and the change in feeling when the piano comes in to the introduction of the guitars. I also really like the use of different styles and genre and the use of vocals. This is my second listen and this diversity of techniques certainly kept my attention. Excellent work!!!
  3. Absoflippinlutely outstanding!!! Every bit of this song is brilliant (as is most of what you do) and I mean this from top to bottom (e.g., performance, skill, production, arrangement, great vox and harmony, lyrics, etc., etc.). I even like the brevity of the rain in the intro. IMHO everything about this is professional! Well done my friend!

Hi Tom. Will they really do that ---- wow! It has been a really (but really) long time since I performed before an audience. Your right, no delay/slapback/reverb. I recorded directly without any assistance and felt absolutely naked doing it (lol). Thanks for the kind words and the encouragement Tom! Hi Bjorn. You are most kind. And when I want to view some great videos paired with excellent music I turn to Bjornpdx! Thanks my friend. Hey Douglas. Thank you. I very much appreciate the fact that you took time to listen and very much appreciate your kind comments! Hey Daryl. I am very glad that you enjoyed it. Thanks for listening and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it!

    Red Tide

Veeery cool jazzy sounding song. Of course the performances were wonderful but I really enjoyed the lyrics and that lead guitar playing. Being a Florida boy I was expecting a different topic from the title (especially having experienced one of our longest red tides) but was pleasantly surprised by these lyrics and the whole doggone song.

    Sonic Sludge

Cool tune indeed and good playing. This song has an edge to it that I believe could be further enhanced with a nice driving bass.
  7. I hope that you are feeling better and that recovery is speedy. From the sound of your playing you have already recovered. It hard to believe that you did this in one take. I too like your tone but I really like the phrasing in your playing. I know that music is great therapy -- so please grace us with more posts like this one and be well
  8. Hi Ed, This is one of my favourite bluesy type songs. You must have had fun doing this. I certainly am not one to give advice on mixing , but for what it is worth, here are a couple of things that I noticed. What seemed muddy to me was primarily the bass. I couldn't quite determine where it was panned. On my "primitive" equipment it some times sounded as if it were panned left then right. Perhaps if the bass were centered a bit more and if it were given a little more EQ this might help define it better. Also the drums might be EQ'ed a bit and brought forward more. Were you using a MIDI pad for the drums? The vocals and overall performance were good! Anyway, it sounds good and you have made a good start on this song !
  9. Very nice indeed! It does have that southern rock edge but (IMHO) with a tinge of Yes mixed in. I enjoyed the lyrics, and the playing, vocals, and mix were all excellent (as per usual). I didn't know that you grew up in J-Ville. That certainly would contribute to the Allman Bros. influence in the song. Do you remember the Allman Bros. when they called themselves the Allan Joys? Way back when they used to have a friendly competition with the Nightcrawlers (Little Black Egg) from the Daytona area. Obviously the Bros. won that competition.

    Lone Wolf

Hi Steve! I always try to go into a song with a specific intent--- which is on rare occasions achieved. It was my intent to cop a feel of the 1950's definition of cool --- you know the raunchy rock, cool jazz, etc. feel. For example: If a building with a cafe was burning, people would normally go screaming out of the building. A 1950's Cool Cat, would first finish his coffee, come his hair (of course), and then grab his stuff and slowly walk out of the building. That was my intent but achievement of intent is rare for me (often going in a different direction). Thanks very much for listening and I always appreciate your suggestions and comments. Hi Gary! I would love to get together with some people just to jam but most of my friends that do music are into symphonic, jazz, folk and other forms of music that leave me in the dust. There is nothing like the person to person interaction. The need to earn a living and 60 hour work weeks put a lid on my musical interests until I retired. Thank you for taking the time to listen and especially for commenting. Hey Lynn. Thank you very much for your very kind words and encouragement. I have always found your comments and suggestions helpful my friend. I too always look forward to the new songs that you post!!
  11. Please add me to the list of kudos given above. This is an absoflippinlutely top notch production --- instrumentation, vocals, mix, performance --- well, it all was just doggone brilliant! Oh yea, you made those Fenders sound great!
  12. What a great tune!!! The melody really pulls one in to the song and your vocal performance is excellent, as are the BGV's. Excellent song Allan!

    Satan Blues

You and your group have really captured the sound of the electric Blues. The band is doing a great job on the instrumentation and your vocals are excellent. Love that live sound. How about doing a tour in Florida --- I would like to see you live!
  14. I remember my reaction to this song when you posted it without the video. This beautiful song really captured me. There was nothing about it that I didn't like -- vocals, instrumentation, lyrics, mix, etc. The video really enhances visually a beautiful aural work!!!!

    Lift Me Up

I also found this to be a very "feel good song." There used to be a show that ran on US television for a while that was called Due South. This reminds me of some of the background music that was done on this series. Very nice indeed!!
  16. This did seem to have a "dash of India" and did indeed sound very well done on my system. It had a very large cinematic sound and would be great background music for a mystery or adventure flick. Nice one!

    Grandparents

This was indeed a very touching tribute to your grandparents. The pictures by themselves told a story but the music/lyrics really nailed it down. I am sure that they would be proud of what you have done. I have been doing a little genealogical search on my family (England, Ireland, and Scotland) and it always amazes me the courage that they must have had to leave home, often with very little, and were able to successfully make a new life in a new country. Well done my friend!!

    Our Humanity

Thank you Gary. I very much appreciate your taking the time to listen and also appreciate your comments. Hi Steve. Naw, you didn't miss the ball at all. In fact, I am surprised that this number hasn't already moved over to page 2. I am really glad that you liked it. I rather like songs that tell a story and have a point, even if obliquely,. That was my attempt on this song and I hope that it came across. Thanks again for not only listening but for your comments also. Hi Douglas. Not bad, you were half right with your guess on what I was playing. For the rhythm guitars I was indeed using a Strat; however, for the lead I used a Telecaster. Fenders do have a distinctive sound. Thanks very much for listening and for your encouragement!

    Lone Wolf

Ok --- no social observations in this song (is that a sigh of relief that I hear?). It is just a simple story about a cat that is not a complete loner but does enjoy some time away from the "madding crowd". I hope that you enjoy it and maybe you might even relate a bit. No it is not self-descriptive ------- well, maybe just a wee fraction of a decimal place? I had some trouble in loading this song on SoundClick but the staff were great in helping fix the problem. As always feedback, comments, suggestions, etc. will be appreciated. LONE WOLF https://www.soundclick.com/bands3/default.cfm?bandID=963481
  20. Now this was an interesting idea that you had! This was a bloody long song but breaking it up into various vignettes with differing structures kept me listening the whole way through. I'm not sure why but the clip around the 5:00 minute mark reminded me a bit of the Gang of Four song "Anthrax". I was expecting a second lead voice with different lyrics to come in with the main vocal.
  21. Ha! ---- Good one!! You have captured the Chicago style in this number. Nice harp playing in this number, the instrumentation pushes the song right along -- and --- your vocal gives feeling to the lyrics and creates some entertainment also. I felt like I was at the gig diggin' the Blues and drinking a cold one. The topic is one I can identify with having done a Bluesy number some where down the list of my SoundClick site songs called "In the Doghouse Again". Coooool!!!
  22. I echo the comments above. This is indeed an interesting composition --- complex, interesting arrangement, good lyrics, and your vocal presentation complements all of this. Nice one!!!
  23. I don't know how I missed this one but I'm very glad that I did indeed find it. The vocals are indeed wonderful and you have captured the emotion of the lyrics in your presentation without over selling the song. Excellent job!

Hi Wookiee. I am glad that you enjoyed the song. Thanks for taking the time to respond and for the kind words. Hey ABull. Thanks very much for responding and your kind comments. I too look forward to hearing a new one from you!!!

    The London Way

I love songs that tell a story and your lyrics and vocals certainly kept me wrapped up in the story. The melancholy instrumentation really complements the story and melody, and the harmonies are also well dong. I don't normally appreciate "strings" in a song (my stupid quirk) but I must admit they really fit perfectly in your song. Lovely song -- well done!
