I suddenly lost my stand alone version of Codex, couldn't find it anywhere and finally got in touch with Waves. They promptly sent me an email telling me to look for it under program files (x86)>Waves where it was under the Plug-ins V9 file. I never thought to look there because it is a 64 bit VST3 file, therefor, I thought it would be under the program files of my C drive. I was wrong, but was able to get the stand alone version from there. Make sure you scan your (x86) files.

I just installed the update a short while ago and gave it a spin. Unfortunately, it still doesn't remember the default for the algorithm that I want (melody). The blobs are still in a straight line until I click on melody in the algorithm setting. Is anyone else getting this, too?

This is a terrific song - the kind that I like to listen to. The main thing that stood out to me was the brightness of the acoustic and electric guitars. Perhaps a db or two of 200-350hz would warm up the acoustic. I agree with Will about changing mics, but other than that, this song is a gem.

David, I've always been impressed by your chord progressions and melodies. This song is brilliant, from its sparse arrangement to its terrific performances. Jen's vocal is truly rich and amazing. This is the first thing I've heard all day, so I'm looking forward to a good day.

Tim, whether or not you think this is finished, it's vastly different from what I've heard from you. Don't give up on this because the lyrics are quite good. I've had songs that just didn't make sense until one day when I had that epiphany that changed everything. If it doesn't come right away, move on to the next song. Very retro and very cool to listen to. It's time to welcome reverb back to the modern mix. Few people here can master as many styles as you do, but you make it seem easy. I'd love to see your record collection. Happy new year, James!

Skald, if you sing harmonies to a lead vocal, you can use Melodyne Studio to show all vocals at once, then you can pitch correct, and phrase correct very easily. If your backup vocals are not phrased correctly, you can use the lead vocal to realign the start and end points of your backup vox. You can even stretch or shrink a phrase to match the lead vocal. The same is true if your aligning any other instrument like doubled lead guitar lines. Very handy if you work with more than one part at a time.

Melodyne Studio and Midi Guitar 2 are the big ones for me. Being able to trigger samples from my guitar without modifying the guitar is invaluable. I'm just now starting to learn and use Superior Drummer 3, which seems to be a big advancement for non-drummers like me.

Larry, that was fun to hear, very nostalgic. It has authenticity because Specter’s recordings were done in mono, and this has a somewhat narrow spread for stereo. I like your voice on this as I have on other songs of yours. Happy new year!

I got some very good suggestions here, so I remixed it this morning with new drum parts in the verses. I took Larry's idea of putting the snare on 2 & 4 which definitely helped. Very easy to do in SD3. I pushed the vocals up a notch and lowered the piano a tad. I posted this in mp3 format on Soundcloud, so take that into account, please.
