    The Two of Us

This is a beautiful song, Rex. All that stood out to me was the BV vox at the end (around the 3:20 mark); it sounded a tiny bit out of tune. The rest of the song is fine. I like the phased/chorused guitar. You're very close, can't wait to hear it again!
  2. Great job, mate! Thanks!! Thank you so much. Love your song, too. Thanks David, I don't understand "her" either...
  3. Fade out your master bus-automation envelope works fine for this.
  4. Is your echo input turned on? It must be on or you won't hear the effect in real time. That's all I can think of.

I guess I like this style of music more than I thought. I had to listen to this a few times so as not to miss anything. If I had mixed this, I would be very happy! I'd be even happier if I had played it or written it. Great job!
  6. Barry, one thing you've done well - you captured the power in your voice and the strength of your guitar playing. I might mix your voice a tad drier, to let the lyrics shine, and I would pare the song down at the end (unless you plan on adding additional instruments) and fade out. No matter, you're on the right track if your writing is this good. You have a special voice that deserves to be heard.
  7. Thank you, Bjorn! Daryl's music suggests any number of things, but this song just spoke to me. As for the vocal f/x, I only used a little delay (eighth note), but I doubled the lead and added a harmony above the lead for 3 parts. It's the natural doubling effect of the two leads that comes out. Thanks to you and others for noticing.
  8. Fabulous! Witty! Catchy! You just keep getting better. I hope this eases your daughter's pain. This is a song that I'll be sharing with a few of my friends. Stay well, mate!
  9. Douglas, this is a terrific song! I'm going to listen to it a few more times to absorb it, but good writing. It has a great retro vibe and a lot of energy. All I noticed was that it was a bit bright in my speakers like it has a lot of upper mid range. But, it does support the vox, so not such a big deal. Keep up the good work.

    KID

Paul, this is a good song that could potentially be stellar. Your vocal and lyrics are quite good, but, on my end, I'm losing the words because the reverb washes them out. So, I think if you get the drums right, you might try a little drier mix on the vox. Who knows? Good luck with this, I look forward to your progress.
  11. Wow! Tom, I missed this one due to the craziness of my life over the last few months, but I'm glad I found this gem. This sounds like a page from my life, in regards to both the story and the musical influences. If my friends, the Rainmakers, ever need a fill-in, I would recommend you.
  12. Wookie and Tom, I want to thank you both for your replies and encouragement! It does mean a lot in times like this.
  13. Route everything to the same auxiliary track or bus and record the output of that track. Or, assign the same MIDI track to each synth and repeat, using one keyboard as the controller. Or, assign each synth to the same "New Patch Point". You'll get it
  14. First of all, the overall quality of the production is quite professional, as I would expect from you. I think I preferred the Orfium link, but I don't know if that's because it seemed a little louder. But, why not use wave files instead? I upload 16/44.1 wave files to Bandlab - do they convert to mp3s? I don't know, just asking. I'm seeking the best platform, myself.
  15. This is a lovely song with good vocals and a sweet sound. I couldn't quite make out the lyrics because the reverb kind of buried them, at least on my end. I think if you play with the mix a little, this will be stellar! Stay safe and keep writing.
  16. Exquisite! As for the drums, the part is just right, but the drums sounded like they were in a different space than the rest of the tracks, to me. Perhaps a bit drier and more up front?
  17. Thanks Makke! The vocals were designed to be a bit obscured, thus the title "Invisible". Thanks for your reply. Good observation! I'll take that into account on the next pass. Appreciate your comments, John. You know you have to do something with these toys That's why this is called an experiment. Sorry that I've been short on time lately, but I'll try to get to your songs very soon. I'm afraid this pandemic has caused some degree of mayhem in my family that I have to attend to, Take care everybody!
  18. Thanks for your encouragement! I used a laptop for monitoring during the mixdown. Tom, thank you so much! I'm using a preset modeled after Gary Moore in the latest version of S-Gear with my Strat. That sudden stop during the mayhem is intentional; I got the idea from someone else somewhere along the way. Douglas, thank you for your kind words! I'm using headphones more than ever in cross checking my mixes. I'm glad it translated well. I'm always flattered by the PG comparison. Wow, thank you very much! Daryl sent me such well polished tracks that I had little to do but not screw up my tracks. If Daryl can stand doing another, I'm game. But, these days, time is at a premium so stay tuned.
  19. A few days ago, Daryl (1968) Greenway sent me an instrumental track with the working title "Dependence Day" and asked me to write some lyrics and vocals and a lead guitar part. We had done this last year, with me providing the instrumental tracks, and Daryl providing lyrics and vocals which resulted in "This Weird Love". The instrumental tracks blew me away, and within an hour, I wrote the lyrics and started working on my guitar part. A day later, here is the result: https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14013775 Daryl provided synths, piano, bass, drums, and 2 guitar tracks (panned left and right), while I did vocals, lead guitar, and toms on the break. I hope you enjoy this piece as much as we did, and we welcome your responses and suggestions. As always, thanks!
  20. Bjorn, you and Douglas did a good job on this production! You are quite the storyteller, and this is one to be proud of. Btw, it's such a pleasure to work with you, and I want all to know that. Carry on
  21. Makke, you have taken the place of the late, great Dick Dale. By now, you have quite an impressive repertoire of guitar instrumentals that you've created over the years. Keep it up!
  22. Yes! This does work. The picture is disturbing once you study it, and the music, with its dissonance, conveys that mood very well. The piece is mixed very well, also. Kudos!
  23. I admire anyone who's brave enough to take on the Beatles. This song is definitely not one of their easiest songs to cover, but you did a terrific job! You stayed true enough to the original to give me the flavor I want, yet put enough of your own spin on this to make it unique. Bravo!
