  1. This is not safe mode. Running CbB with SHIFT held down runs a "partial personalization" - a process to restore files missing from the user folder. To open a project in safe mode, start CbB then open the project while holding down the SHIFT key. This is the safe mode dialog displayed when opening a project in safe mode -
  2. The bit depth in the Transport Module refers to the Record Bit Depth not the Audio Driver Bit Depth. It means, all future recording in the project will be done at the bit depth shown in the Transport Module. A project may have clips at various bit depths. The Record Bit Depth may be changed at any time. Usually it is a good idea to set the Record Bit Depth the same as the Audio Driver Bit depth.
  3. Try changing the "Buffer Size" under "Mixing Latency" in preferences. Start with a slightly more "Safe" value.
  4. The install button under the Cakewalk image on the Apps menu in BandLab Assistant downloads and runs the current Cakewalk by BandLab installer. The initial Cakewalk by BandLab installer is about 400 MB. Download time depends on the connection speed however; 2 hours seems like a long time. The download may have timed out.
  5. No. Both DAWs share some files and registry entries. CbB installs like an upgrade to SONAR. During the upgrade upon detecting an existing SONAR installation, CbB will use the same drive. Both DAWs have their own program, programdata, content and user folders. Both DAWs share the same bundled DX effects/synths, PC modules and utilities (the "shared" folders).

    Record will not work

Verify the timing masters are setup in preferences If they are correct and the problem persists consider supplying details about the hardware and software.
  7. Not here. I just tried creating a new project with an Audio track containing a couple of clips added to it and set up the track to loop Added a reverb bus w/ FabFilter Pro-R and Sonitus Comp in the FX Rack Added sends from the audio track to the reverb bus and Sonitus Comp side chain Ran for some time adjusting the reverb and compressor. Worked OK. Running CbB 25.5.0.31 on Win10 v1809. Similar CPU and RAM.
  8. Before running the re-scan make sure to enabled Generate Scan Log in preferences The log may help with diagnosing the problem.

    Old vs New

Yes, a bad paste on my part. I fixed it. FWIW, most pages of the help systems of the two DAWs have the same url except for the product name. Changing the product name in the url from Cakewalk to SONAR will bring up the last SONAR docs and vice versa.

There is an included plug-ins section in the help for each DAW CbB http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Plug-ins.1.html Platinum http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=Plug-ins.1.html To save time you could just install the SONAR program itself then CbB and run the various Platinum plug-in installers as needed later. The reason you need SONAR installed is some of the Platinum plug-in installers look for Platinum. The plug-ins are not locked and will work in CbB but the installers won't run unless SONAR is installed.
  13. My guess is yes but I have not tested it. More critical when performing a real time bounce are audio buffer settings. Unlike real time bounce, fast bounce is immune to dropouts.

    Old vs New

Feature wise CbB exceeds Platinum but CbB will likely never have near the content provided by Platinum. Install Platinum to get the plug-ins. Keep it lean, skip the documentation and tutorials (and loops if you don't use loops). Most of the disk space used by a full Platinum installation are samples for the synths, tutorials and audio loops.
  15. By default, "E" is the global binding for Bypass All Audio Effects. It is documented here The image above seems to show the Keyboard Shortcuts preference screen when no project is loaded. Make sure a project is loaded to see the shortcuts like this Regardless, default bindings do not show in the function list box. The default bindings are listed directly below the key list like the red box and arrow show in this image.
  16. Thanks for looking at Rapid Composer. I'm a little busy right now. Hopefully the OP can make use of your suggestions.
  17. When docked on the sides, use "synth connect/disconnect" option in the Synth Rack synth settings menu (D in the image below) to affect the the item in the rack that has focus.
  18. The LP-64 multiband was discontinued when Cakewalk released the L-Phase series in 2017. BandLab may release the L-Phase series but the LP plug-ins they replaced will likely not be brought back.
  19. No Studio Instrument are sfz engine synths. The prog files contain UI settings for the synths along with pointers to the sfz files used. The sfz files may be played in other synths that support the sfz format. The individual wavs referenced in the sfz files are available for use as well.
  20. May get better results adding a subwoofer than swapping out the 305s for the 308s.
  21. There is no reason to run BA when not connected to the internet. There is an option in the BA Settings for "Launch on startup," If this is off, BA will not start automatically. Then run BA when needed. There is no reason to kill BA using the Windows Task Manager. "X"ing out of the UI does not shut down the program, it just kills the UI. The program still runs in background. The "Quit" button on the BA settings screen actually shuts down the program. Click the gear in the upper left of the BA UI to open the Settings page.
  22. May want to review Live Input PDC override
  23. I tried switching between the 4 presets bundled with CbB starting with "Vocals - " and could not crash CbB. If you choose to file a report with support, please provide information about your hardware, OS, audio interface, the exact names of the PC presets, the steps to reproduce the crash and a crash dump. Here are instructions on how to provide a crash dump for analysis.
  24. I don't believe it is a common occurrence any more especially after the "Scan in Sandbox" option was added to Cakewalk. Used to happen to me every time running full scans or resets in Platinum. I would have to move the z3ta+2 plug-in out of the scan path in order for the scan to complete. Once complete, I could put z3ta+2 back and the synth would get picked up with the next scan. If the scanner does not complete and is stuck in memory, it will prevent another scan from starting. Either kill the vstscan.exe using the Windows Task Manager or restart the PC. Then start Cakewalk by BandLab. The scanner should start again as long as the scanner is not set to manual scan in preferences. If the scanner is set to manual scan skip to step 6 If it fails to complete again. Change the scan option drop down to manual scan in preferences (see link in step 2) Kill the vstscan.exe using Windows Task Manager or restart the PC Start Cakewalk by BandLab again Open VST Setting in preferences (see link in step 2) and make sure "Scan in Sandbox" and "Generate Scan Log" are selected The click the Scan button. Whether the scan completes or not there should be a log created. The full name of the log is %appdata%\Cakewalk\Logs\VstScan.log. The log may help with sorting out the problem.
