  1. Yes I did, and I haven't installed it yet because of it. Yet!
  2. I was gonna offer up a snarky "oh, first world problems!!!" . . . but actually that does look pretty effed up. My condolences.
  3. Well, here's a different view. This turn of events is just capitalists doing capitalism. Discovery built up its own music library, so they could save money and not have to shell out for unique, individualized music for their shows? It's a low blow to strip out the original, royalties required music, and replace it with stock library music. Its also pretty much the "vertical integration" from Rockefeller 101. The same capitalist system that required, for a while, that composers actually be paid. For a while. And then, apparently, shed like extra baggage jettisoned off a ship. Will the Discovery-watching public, in their dwindling numbers, ever organize angry boycotts because the bumper theme they heard in Cash Cab is noticed as identical to the ending credits of Battlebots: Resurrection ? for interesting reference, here's a link to all the show's the discovery channel is making. I gotta say, most of them look pretty awesome: https://go.discovery.com/tv-shows And as show music goes, a lot of the stuff I've heard on these shows us quite good indeed! I know that these composers have been counting on the royalties, in some cases, for their retirement income. So this latest development sucks for sure. Too bad music is so contractually ephemeral.
  4. Some lady singing next door?
  5. At last, a solution for all that extra virtual space. Merry Xmas and happy holiday to all of y'all!
  6. Cool, afflatus is quite the bargain basement at 749 or sumpin? Krazy!
  7. Care to redo mine? Think of all the money you'd save? 🕵 Sounds like you are happy with your new setup, congrats!
  8. Agreed. But I already have 3 other reverbs that I actually use. I will dutifully dload it anyway, because my parents grew up in the Great Depression, when there were no jobs, movies were a nickel, and you couldn't even find a vst plugin to buy.
  9. Kinda dumb q, but could anyone say what other reverb this freebie reminds you of? Just wondering, trying to avoid duplication if I can. I know, it's like I'm asking "is this green more or less greenier than my other greens" ?
  10. David! Don't go gettin' all misty! But seriously, thanks for the great comment. There is real emotion in this, I agree. So glad you liked it. I have passed these comments along to the author.
  11. thanks Martsave martin! thanks, Kloon! Yes, thanks, the simplicity is heartfelt and glad it came across as such! Thanks for the listen!
  12. Thanks Gary! I passed along your comments to the youngsters . . . Yes, my kid wrote lyrics and melody, and sang it. I added some computer fluffery and played piano. There was a very fast time schedule on this so we both played the guitar in through a keyboard, a couple of OTS guitars, Dracus I think, and a Studio Nylon if I remember. Bass was the excellent AmpleSound Acoustic Bass. I think I added maybe one arrangement idea along the way. Pretty fun project! thanks for the comments.
  13. I'll just throw Johnny Clegg and Savuka onto the comparison bonfire! Really great production, and loved the mix. Nice choice, the congas on the edges. In just a few spots, I found the lead vocal dips a bit and the guitars overtake it. Maybe :34, in that bridge? section? I dunno. Not really a problem. 'cause it's a great guitar part, super clean. yes, keep these coming please! nice job!!! Especially the bgv's . . . cheers, -Tom
  14. Wild, and great. The title on your Soundclick has the men/ropes switched. How did you do the female / chipmunky vocal, is that your vocal, pitched up? The guitar part is actually pretty brilliant, to my ears. cheers, -Tom
  15. I think the vocals are actually good, and perhaps the best part of the mix! The drums have a nice live feel, and the bass seems competent as well, but they both offer up a bit of a two-dimensional quality, like the drum kit was recorded in mono? Is that a nod to the '70's? I have not heard the original, but I like your a lot! And you are right, the guitar at the end has a nice tone and riffs well! You will get at some point a better sax / horn patch, I think that's the thing that lets you down the most right now. Very cool tune, cool groove, and I think your vocal came through really well. cheers, -Tom
  16. Very good mix, especially fitting the percussion in against the killer vocal. And "Yes" , the 80's Yes, all the way. Great job! -Tom
  17. The chorus and percussion coming in around 1:50 really worked well, pretty darn pro. I agree about a "one unifying reverb" idea, like a Spaces or equivalent, maybe the Liquidsonics Seventh Heaven (non-professional) version, I saw that $69 at jrr. That Seventh Heaven rvb is kinda my go to these days. I hope you check in at VI Control website, lots of composer types there. I liked your tune very much. cheers, -Tom
  18. Very cool, cello as lead. Loved the synthy pads that wandered around it, too! I apparently heard version 2, with less bass, and gosh darn it my comment would be, more bass! To me the mix seems just - a -tad -bright for funk. I guess if your lead instrument is a cello, kind of bass potential, you need to handle other bass elements with extreme caution! But for me, bass guitar below maybe 120hz could come up a little. friggin sweet jam. cheers, -Tom
  19. Yeah! I heard "'70's TV show" in my brain . . . I like the suspenseful holds on many of the notes. What's next? we wonder . . . I know it's a work in progress, maybe a little more reverb matching between the parts? But good so far, certainly held my interest. cheers, -Tom
