  1. That is a very nicely written justification for mood lighting! Thanks! If you have any specific lights to suggest, that would be great as well. Got any go-to's?
  2. 100% do not respond. Unless you want to exchange real money for spurious listens and comments.
  3. super moody and cinematic, well done there. You might consider a master bus eq pulling some 350hz out in a narrow notch, it might thin a little low end blur. I think it is the piano, sounds like some woody resonance, but if you can't adjust the piano, maybe the master bus? I dunno. This could easily be in a professional movie. The strings are super clear and defined. cheers, -Tom
  4. Just popped in to say I like it a lot! I had a couple of mix thoughts but I see done is done, just niggles anyway. Your piece has a very listenable sonic palette, sort of a 80's country western Bowie meets Bladerunner. Unique! cheers, -Tom
  5. . . . got any to share? They could be novel desk lamps, led strips, could be music reactive . . . pictures please? Expanding this could be cool studio knick-knackery, but with a cool mood-setting lighting effect. Just wondering what's out there beyond my searches . . . thanks!
  6. So when you want to mute or unmute, you have to pull the cover off, flick the switch, and then put the cover back on again? That could be awkward onstage. You might cut a small slit in the top of your cover, and then glue a small extension handle to the slideable switch, extruding the opposite end of the new switch handle extension out through the new slit in the top of the cover. That way it's less awkward to mute and unmute quickly, you won't have to fumble with your nice switch cover.
  7. Great rendition with full respect for the original. The mix sounded grrrreat in my cans. Very pretty in that outside shot - maybe a few different shots in the out-of-doors would add to the variety of the video. I liked the drums, great panning on the splashy hihats and cymbals, very organic sounding kit. cool vocals, very respectful rendition! cheers, -Tom
  8. I was kind of hoping for "to celebrate the new release, we are having 40% off of Unisum" but alas.
  9. I was listening to version 1 and was going to comment about the vocals needing more commitment to the Black Keys-type distortion, and your second mix covered that, although my recommendation would still be more main vocal volume. Right now, your snare is as loud as your vocal, which as they mask each other anyway in the same frequency range, I'd think you'd want the vocals up a bit. Great guitars, love the tone. The drums are so present and clean yet punchy. Love it. Great tune! Did the docs tell you "heart surgery is the surgery you want to have" ? I remember hearing that one. Congrats on your by-pass filter cheers, -Tom
  10. love the mix of guitars and the more modern synths and sound designs. Sweet guitar licks and tone. Agreed that that bass tone is a keeper - Geddy Lee eat your heart out. If I were to pick a nit a bit, I found the balance a bit weird between the extremely washy hi-hats, and the snare which is pretty vanilla in its tone and ambient treatment, and up front. I might want to hear more nasty ring on the snare or some AP550 compression boomy roomy on it. I dunno, it's a nit, innit? top quality effort, John, I too love your variety! cheers, -Tom
  11. Very nice 60's vibe for me! Nice vocals, I wonder if in the chorus you could sustain your "storm" into "storrrrrrrrrrrrm" - just a thought. In the intro your guitar delay created a neat effect, but you might check the timing of the echoes, do they match your tempo? I'm not sure, worth a check maybe. Really trippy mix of everything when it gets into the instrumental at the outtro, I even caught echoing string noise! I dig it! cheers, -Tom
  12. . . . the sound of oxcarts carrying away heaping piles of plague victims . . .
  13. Did Alexa scold you, or suggest dietary improvements?
  14. In the same future where Amazon stands alone as the only retail source for guitar strings, nobody will be playing actual guitar anymore.
  15. Sears didn't trick you into buying a hockey puck for your living room that listens to all your conversations.
  16. this Thing is quite useful and easier than using an EQ.

How can you feel the liberation of culling your plugin collection, if you don't obsessively overpurchase plugins to begin with? Anything by Softube, Fabfilter, and that Gullfoss thing: Most of my Waves and Izotope:
  18. Ed, here's your next basses. Perhaps Derek Smalls will sell.
