Perhaps you should enlist the Cakewalk developers to assist in discovering why the instant crash is happening. There are three links in my signature, one for how to capture a crash dump, one for an overlay and the third about how to submit a bug report. Crash dump files are normally pretty large so the suggestion is to load the file to online storage and attach a link to your bug report. Some users post a link in a new forum thread that provides issue details.

You may also want to check out the excellent Favorite Freeware thread forum member Starship Krupa started a few months ago for VST effects. He also started the Favorite Freeware thread for virtual instruments or VSTi.

That is some great detective work. How did you find out about the trigger words and who wrote up the trigger word list?

Realtek does offer ASIO drivers for their motherboard audio devices. https://www.realtek.com/en/component/zoo/advanced-search/433?Itemid=276 You do need to know which device is on your motherboard and if your device supports AC97 (old) or HD audio in order to download and install the correct driver. I know Dell will provide the correct Realtek driver for the devices used on Dell motherboards through their support website. I assume other computer manufacturers do also.

Cakewalk reported in another thread they approached Roland about (1) obtaining an updated driver, (2) providing support for Cakewalk to update the driver or (3) giving Cakewalk specifications and permission to develop a driver. Roland does not seem to be interested.

Somewhere on this forum there is a post by one of the Cakewalk folks that mentions the Melodyne trial downloaded through the BandLab Assistant link differs from the Melodyne trial download available through Celemony. The key difference is the Cakewalk by BandLab Melodyne application continues to offer monophonic audio to midi conversion once the trial period is over. In the same thread I believe someone discovered that when Melodyne moved from version 4 to version 5 the Cakewalk by BandLab Melodyne application also changed versions and the custom to Cakewalk audio to midi conversion was lost. I believe the folks at Cakewalk was not aware the functionality was lost until the subject was mentioned in the discussion. Perhaps someone from Cakewalk could confirm how the Cakewalk provided Melodyne application works once the trial period is over.

Perhaps a relook at touchscreen functionality would be beneficial. While there may be some truth that not many people use their DAW with touchscreen, they may in the future. Many laptops have touchscreens. Judging by what's on sale I'd say people are slowly moving from desktop to laptop and tablet based computers. It's great to see the general suggestion was made, the request was acknowledged and feedback was requested. Then more specific feedback was given.

Very good video Mike. I did not realize one Matrix View could hold a mixture of midi patterns and audio loops. As a side note, I also didn't know Studio Instrument midi patterns could be copied by dragging straight into a Matrix View cell or into a track.

John, Thanks for posting the video. I like how you used a second TTS-1 for drums and then assigned each drum note to a midi channel on the second TTS-1. Although the video is almost 17 minutes there are a few spots where you fast forward through the steps. Please consider giving some warning before you fast forward. Otherwise there is some question about whether the video is streaming correctly.

Hello, At one time Sonar offered a subscription service. When Sonar closed down I believe a perpetual license was released. You may want to use the Cakewalk Command Center program manager to access your Sonar account and ensure your computer is using the most up-to-date-release of Sonar.

@solaelux, I'm not disagreeing with you, Cakewalk is great and getting better every release. The current development team has done an admirable job of making the product much more stable while adding new features. My point is not to minimize their accomplishments. I'm hoping to encourage new users to share their thoughts concerning the product.

AdK's 9 minutes and 3 seconds video does a good job of highlighting how users that create electronic based music use CbB differently than users that use CbB to make more traditional recordings. I believe CbB needs to adapt its tools and tool set to accommodate a more diverse user base so I welcome comments from users like AdK, Xel Ohh and E-Woof Music!

Fun listen. Your voice is a good match to the song. You did a really nice job on it. No criticism.

Late to the party. Absolutely awesome. I've always enjoyed this song and you've done it serious justice. The whispers are too quiet while the brushes are a tad too loud. This is going to read stupid but may I suggest adding delay to the bass drum, way deep into the background. While the brushes sound great the bass drum is too dry. You missed the final strum at the very end of the original. Listen close to the original and you'll hear there are three guitar tracks with a little space between each strum. To me, it's sort of an Easter Egg.

@Colin Nicholls I appreciate you sharing that thought. Your manual for the CbB Theme editor is a great guide. You have quite a way with words.

It would be nice if BandLab considered adding a forum section where forum members could share Articulation Maps, Drum Maps, INS and CAL files. I believe creating a depository would greatly enhance the Cakewalk by BandLab user experience and help drive new forum membership as search engines would point to each depository sub-section. Perhaps BandLab can label the main forum section "Add-Ons" with a sub-section devoted specifically for each type of add-on. For example there would be a sub section for Articulation Maps, another for Drum Maps, INS files and so on. Then, as forum members create add-on files, they could post the file to the appropriate sub-section along with a short description of the file's purpose. They could say for example, "Here is an articulation map for v 1.3 of the VST plug-in, Spicy Guitar."

@Bradley Smith, I approached BandLab Support shortly after BandLab launched Cakewalk by BandLab and this forum asking the same question you asked, "Can you use the online DAW without using a Chrome based browser?" BandLab Support's response was, "No. " They were kind enough to explain the online DAW uses some browser elements that are unique to Chrome. One item of note. BandLab was awarded "Best Classroom Technology" during the 2018 NAMM You may want to visit BandLab's education webpage to see what they offer.

Nice write up Colin. One point of confusion for me was I've always thought of automation lanes and envelopes as two distinct entities with automation lanes (or tracks) as an entity for documenting automated changes while envelopes are the outer boundaries of a waveform.

Great sounding cover. The vocalist added her own style to the vocal while paying homage to the original. That is a really nice sounding mix.
