  1. Its been a while since I dealt with Syntronik 2 issues, but the SYN2 versions include some presets designed specifically for Syntronik 2. Do you want those new presets? Personally, I like a number of them over the older presets. Another factor to consider: The older Syntronik presets can be used and tweaked with the older front panel hardware-style UI in Syntronik 2, but not with the snazzy, new Syntronik 2 Edit Panel. As for deleting Syntronik and just using Syntronik 2, there are several reasons to keep both. Two that I remember: (1) Some say that the older presets in Syntronik 2 can sound a bit different than when played with Syntronik. (2) Also, the IDs for the plug-ins are different.
  2. For those old farts like me who say to themselves, "Wait a sec! Didn't I see this already?" Rest assured its not a sign of a false memory. Request to Cakewalk users who are tempted to re-post a copy of a prior post in a new thread: Please mention that the new post has been reposted from another thread. Thanks.
  3. Are you looking for Demo Projects for Cakewalk by Bandlab? I just went to Help > Check for Updates. I am up-to-date with CbB 28.11.0.21 but I had a pop-up toaster notification asking if I wanted to download Cakewalk Demo Projects. I said yes / Download Now. The projects were downloaded and I now have a pop-up toaster notification that says: Download Complete . . . Ready to Install. The Installer was placed at C:\Users\ [My Account] \Downloads \ Cakewalk and is setup version 1.0.0.8. When I pressed "Install Now" on the pop-up, CbB extracted them to Cakewalk Content\Demo Projects. I have not changed the default file folder locations. One demo project is from 2018; the other is from 2021. I didn't download them previously. I assumed that "I have the latest update" means CbB, not Creator 6. If you are looking for demos that came with Creator 6, maybe someone else can help.
  4. I don't use Tonex, but I found it (maybe). Make sure ToneNet is active [green dot in upper right] Search for bad cat cub [center of the Tonex UI] I found 4 listed [bottom panel] Bad Cat Cub 111 30 R- Drive Bad Cat Cub 111 30 R- Clean KPA Bad Cat Cub 40R - Drive KPA Bad Cat Cub 15W - Drive The first two are from The Studio Rat Maybe the top 2 models are the ones referenced in the e-mail & link provided. Not sure. From playing around with TONEX CS briefly, I saw that we can mix and match components (amp, cab, stomp). So if you like the clean Bad Cat Cub 111 30 R amp, you can use that with other modeled components. Maybe that might appeal to you. I defer to guitarists for aesthetic considerations of the different models and combinations. PS: I did the search using no filters. If you have filters on, that might keep you from seeing models. (The list filter is activated by the icon that looks like a funnel.)
  5. I agree with Byron Dickens and others who mention various multi-port MIDI interfaces. It sounds like you are using 1 x 1 interface cables. Even with multiple 2 x 2 interfaces of the same model (E-Mu), Windows could only handle two at a time reliably. Three was iffy. Four was definitely problematic. I picked up some older iConnect MIDI multiple port interfaces (iConnectMIDI2 and iConnectMIDI4+) and when used with the iConnectivity configuration software, Windows is much happier with multiple MIDI ports. Not specifically recommending these; just using them as an example of the benefit of avoiding multiple 1 x 1 MIDI interface cables, especially generic ones.
  6. Glad to hear it worked for you!! I have two guesses as to how it could have changed: (1) Windows update or (2) CbB update. Just found this: https://blogs.windows.com/windowsdeveloper/2016/09/21/midi-enhancements-in-windows-10/ I won't pretend to understand it, but from my naïve perspective, I have a third guess (3) hardware or software might trigger something that says to WIndows, "use UWP." I will defer to explanations from others who know more about that stuff.
  7. For the past several years I have been doing more and more with software synths and I've seen problems with those (non-responsive to program changes), but I seem to recall all my sound modules switched without incident when I last used my hardware synth module stack. I am curious now. I have one sound module currently connected to my Audio PC and will give it a try. Did a quick test: usb keyboard to CbB to 2x2 midi interface to Sound Module. Incoming MIDI data led lights up with note data and program change data. Realtime notes play, but realtime program changes don't change presets. I verified that "Receive Program Change" for all channels = on. AHA!!!! MIDI Driver Mode has been switched to UWP. I always use MME. Will switch that back and retest. BINGO!!!!!!!! Program Change commands now work. To switch MIDI Drive Mode (in case you want to try it), close your project (otherwise the UWP/MME box is greyed out. [P]references (Advanced) > MIDI > Playback and Recording > Driver Mode. IIRC there are a few other things that can syphon off / filter out midi commands. I have legacy gear, so MME has consistently worked better for me than UWP. Different people have success with different modes. If you search the forum for UWP, you can see what others say (UWP v. MME).
  8. May 2019 first time (i.e., non-update) purchase (before I found out that SONAR had been resurrected): Samplitude Pro X4 Suite, Celemony Melodyne Essentials, SOUND FORGE Pro 11 $149.00 USD May / June 2020 upgrade offer e-mail: Samplitude Pro X5 Suite US$249 September -> November 2020 upgrade offer: Samplitude Pro X5 SuiteUS$199.00
  9. I remember I tested saving / restoring some meters via Workspaces a couple of years ago. There was some discussion in the forum about saving / restoring meters. IIRC someone from staff made some observations. I also recall going back and possibly the behavior had been changed. Not sure. I will look for the discussion. This is one discussion I found. Its not about scaling in take lanes, though.
  10. Results of quick test: confirmed DB scale on take lanes does get reset after saving / reopening project Workspace didn't save / reload DB scale for take lanes confirmed a prior issue with muted / soloed takes upon reloading a saved project still exists soloed take doesn't sound unless it is re-soloed
  11. Is it possible you are using a Workspace that reloads the DB scale? I don't remember if the DB scale is saved/restored and I don't have the time at the moment to double check. If DB scale does get saved and restored from a Workspace, try saving the workspace with a new name so you can retain the previous setting. See update posted below. In short, Workspace didn't save / reload DB scale for take lanes.
  12. I don't think I ever changed anything but I just looked at Profile (upper right corner that shows your name > Manage Followed Content > Change Preference. Please let me know if that works; I am not sure if I ever changed any of my preferences intentionally and it would be good to know.
  13. FWIW: Since iLock was mentioned I checked how many activations my other Softube plug-ins have: 3. 🙂 Most of my other iLocked plug-ins have either 2 or 1 (total).
  14. I have done this, too, but on all monitors--ever since they got rid of the ability to have multiple bars simply because people had no idea how to dock them on the edges properly. My reasoning is the same--I have plenty of extra space on the sides. I heard that that in Windows 11, we cannot have it on the side.
  15. Thanks for the explanation. What threw me off was (A) that Scaler can be used (1) as an instrument plug-in, (2) as an MFX plug-in, and (3) as an audio plug-in combined with (B) my unfamiliarity with Logic Pro. I know a whole bunch of methods to insert plug-ins into Cakewalk in various places and how to route paths in Cakewalk. But once the narrator started zipping through the various insertion methods at lightning speed I was distracted from the explanation because I was trying to track the cursor to see what he was doing and thinking of how I would do that in Cakewalk. For me, I anticipate the main usefulness of Scaler would not be as an instrument or as a compositional tool, but as a documentation tool and if possible as a real-time performance tool. However, my main point earlier was to comment on the topic raised, that Groove3 videos could better serve the needs of non-Logic users. So, as time permits, I will seek more detailed thoughts about what interests me with Scaler in other threads. I will work in some time to take your excellent suggestion--to get the 30-day trial.

  17. I don't have Scaler, but having heard references to it in the forum, thought I'd check out the tutorial to learn more about it. Because of the complexities of Scaler (esp. the fact that it is a midi, an audio, and an instrument plug-in all in one with a lot of levels for each of those modes), I could not keep track of the pace with all the levels without doing some hands-on stuff--pausing, trying it out, exploring, restarting, etc. Even if I had Scaler, because (1) the insertion method is different than in Cakewalk and (2) the mode access / switching methods are different in Cakewalk, I would not have been able to follow along with the step-by-step process. I have not had this kind of issue with other plug-in tutorials either on YouTube or Groove 3. Given the complexities of Scaler, I find the statement about consulting your DAW manual for other DAWs to be less than satisfactory. With my knowledge of SONAR / Cakewalk, I have been able to easily follow other tutorials that used different DAWs. If you make a suggestion to Groove3 to add an additional tutorial in the Scaler 2 series that addresses setting and mode switching it up in Cakewalk, I'd be happy to support that with an e-mail.

    Sad Day

To me it communicates mixed feelings--a sense of deep-felt grief over the unfortunate transition mixed with the clear presence of very happy memories. Thanks for sharing.
  19. It definitely sounds like a game-like theme heavily influenced by a jazzy arrangement. Nice that you and your son were able to collaborate on that project. That's a special moment.
  20. Yeah, the Track Control [Widget] Dropdown Menu / Manager is a really handy / powerful workflow tool. Someone should do a short, concise, accurate 1-2 min. tutorial on it. Some people don't know about it and some people don't use it enough to remember to check it. http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Arranging.20.html IIRC we can even save custom track control configurations in custom / customized Workspaces. Yup; just confirmed this by swapping some custom Workspaces. For example, the track controls shown for my "LISTEN + Transport" Workspace are different than for my my "Staff Entry" Workspace.
