  1. Thanks Jesse I really appreciate the help. So I've been copying the URL directly from the browser's address box but you copied the URL from the Sound Cloud Share box. They both look the same but maybe there's a difference. Anyway I'll try it next time and I'll take your advice about waiting a few seconds for the render.
  2. I keep trying to get my Sound Cloud links embedded in Songs forum posts but it never seems to work. I've had it work only one time and I don't remember what I did. Seems like everyone else can do it.. So I copy the URL for my song for example https://soundcloud/orygun/aliye into the body of my post and it should embed automatically? (I removed the ".com" from the example URL) There's a Share button on Sound Cloud which offers an Embed code, which looks like this: (I removed the "<" and ">" at beginning and end) iframe width="100%" height="166" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" allow="autoplay" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/637792977&color=%23ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true"></iframe So do I insert the above code in the Songs post? Kinda don't think so but thought I'd ask. Thanks
  3. Lynn I'm sitting in Starbucks with my new Sennheiser PXC 550 headphones bluetoothed to my laptop and listening to songs on the forum. I wasn't so sure about that sci-fi movie thing at the very beginning but I really got into the song once that cool bass started up. Really like that bass line and the bouncy synth accompaniment. The mix sounds really good to me and I wish I could comment more on that but that's all I've got. I did notice the separation of instruments which worked very well. And again, the vocal track is excellent and your voice stands out in the mix like it should. Well done.

    Aliye

I didn't know that Aliye came with translations of the seven songs in the sample library. Below is the translation of the one song I was using. Each line corresponds to a keyboard note so the notes I used wouldn't make a lot of sense if translated. Anyway here's the whole song. Apparently it's Turkish I've found that foreign songs usually tell of local customs and concerns and don't translate into anything much epic. Rose needle lace in my scarf Rose needle lace in my scarf I haven't laughed to my heart's content Rose needle lace in my scarf I haven't laughed to my heart's content I am blending the griefs while counting the days Take me, I can't have the heart I am blending the griefs while counting the days Take me, I can't have the heart I wait in the corner Oh my troubles I wait in the corner Oh my troubles Because of playing tabor My wrists are tired Take me I can't have the heart Because of playing tabor My wrists are tired Take me I can't have the heart
  5. That Peter Pan clue rang a little bell in my head. 😁
  6. Glyn Not sure if it's the song or the genre but I couldn't get into it. The opening with the ominous synth is good but maybe a bit long. I liked the operatic singing part near the end. I think the song would work very well as a soundtrack to a video.

    Simply Dancing

Kakku Nicely orchestrated as usual, and a nice listen. To me it seems to wander too much, like it needs more of a central theme. There's a little glitch at 0:16 and 1:27
  8. Bit of a reggae feel right at the start. Liked the extended couple of words ("don't you") the last two lines of each verse (I notice these things) which helps to zing in on the rich guy. Really nice groove going on throughout the song. I like this a lot. Ooooh, Tick Tock is a crocodile. I get it now.

    Aliye

Steve and kloon Yeah, I knew the Eurasian voice didn't really fit in so much with the rest of it. Maybe that part needs more separation and something that connects better with the rest of the song. Anyway thanks for commenting.

    Aliye

https://soundcloud.com/orygun/aliye Aliye - Eurasian female vocal sample library by Sonokinetic Alchemy Dream Voices Zebra Kontakt I've had Aliye on the computer for a while and finally got around to using it in a project. Thanks for listening.
  11. John I didn't notice anything in the bass that stuck out in any particular way and I thought the strings worked nicely esp around 3:25 with the staccato notes. Really like the ode to your piano theme. Lots of areas to explore with that and you came up with some good examples ("so guided to my direction" - nice). Have to say too that your song structures are so different from what I'm used to - yours are loose and unconfined which works quite well with your lyrics and orchestration. Well done with that!

Very good! Love the guitar solo especially.

    C'mon C'mon

kloon Boy I really like the overall sound of the song (which isn't too descriptive but I can't find a better way to put it). The lyrics are pretty general which does make the listener interpret the meaning in a personal way. I suppose the lyrics could be accused of being overused or cliched, but to me a cliche is a good way to express something concisely since everyone knows (for example) what "barking up a wrong tree" means. Nice work!
  14. This is one of those Seinfeld type "it's about nothing" stories. Nothing more mundane than buying socks but you made it funny as all get out. Loved all the little synth participants throughout, esp that cool bass. Nice one, Tom!
  15. Don't think I've ever heard an autotune effect around here lately, but I thought it worked pretty well. Ms. de la Cruz is an excellent vocalist and her performance is quite enjoyable. I thought the video was very well done and I wouldn't be surprised to see it moving up a Billboard list one of these days.
  16. Jesse They seemed about the same to me. Love the eerie mood of the song. Somewhere in there it reminded me of the guitar in The End by the Doors.
  17. John You write the sincerest lyrics of anyone I know and it's pretty obvious that you're passionate about your convictions. But when you create something and you put it out there you have to know that not everyone will like it. So you just move on. No need to apologize or feel embarrassed. I thought the video/slideshow was very well done and the instrumental sections very effective (eg 2:30) in stirring up the emotions. I didn't get the lyrics though. The song was either about 9/11 or about abuse of the flag or are you inferring a connection between the two topics? Flag burning brings up images of Vietnam War protests in the 60s to me. Haven't been hearing about people being told to take their flag display down, but maybe I'm not paying attention to current events? So I think it would make a better story to stick with one topic. You had mentioned somewhere that one of those hijacked planes was heading for a nuclear reactor which is something that I'd never heard about. A story about the passengers on that flight would be epic. Just one man's opinion and not meant to evaluate anyone's worth as a human being.
  18. Don't need lyrics when you can say it with music. Excellent and heartfelt playing.
  19. This is such an excellent cover of a great song. Can't think of any way you could improve on it. Bacco is the very definition of crooner.
  20. Beautiful, just beautiful.
  21. Very pleasant and relaxing. Not sure how I'd categorize it but seems to me it would make a nice travelogue soundtrack.

    Tranquility

LadyFT - Thanks for the pause suggestion. Kind of wish I'd thought of that before posting the song. Martins - thank you Lynn - glad you liked it. Sometimes I wish I had fewer choices of sounds to pick from. Gets overwhelming at times. John B - Vangelis is known more for the Blade Runner soundtrack. I have a Vangelis tribute library which sounds too much like his work unless you mess with the filters and such. msmcleod - yep.

Paul, amiller, Freddy, Tom and Kakku Thank you and esp to kakku for the extra kind words.
  24. Nicely done and a fun listen. The world needs more upbeat songs like this!
