  1. Really Nice Jack , I loved the airy smooth mix. Wonderful song and job capturing it .. mark
  2. Superb ! Quick and to the point. You can say a Lot in a short time if done right. I also liked the cover photo , looks just like a section I used to ride my horse thru in a national forest near me. Brought back a nice memory. Thanks .. mark
  3. Dallas , it sounded like the vocal channel was side chained to a compressor affecting the rest of the mix. When you sang , the main mix would decrease in volume , ducking under it , and as soon as your singing paused like between phrases , the main mix would jump back up. It sounded intentional like is often done on bass and kick drum ( if you want to bring either one to the forefront). It seemed to me to be happening whether intended or not. It didn't sound like the vocals were covering up the mix , but like the rest of the mix volume is actually dropping when you sing . ?? mark
  4. Cool song , I'm not hearing an infringement but if you did , someone will probably let you know "one way or the other". If you're looking for any mix suggestions , mine would be to not duck the main mix with the vocal track. It's pulling a lot of the energy out of it . Really enjoyed it .. mark
  5. Hello , When eqing a track that may take quite a few time thru to get it right . "is there a way to keep the Expanded EQ interface from collapsing when you Start or Stop the transport" I have to expand it While the track is playing to take advantage of the shown EQ curve in real time. I've been wasting a lot of time setting the bands in places that aren't optimal. I've been using "span" to identify exact frequencies not even realizing it could be done in quad curve eq. Thanks .. mark
  6. Paul , It's been a while and you Sure came back Strong with this one. Sounds like dance music that I used to Love in the 80's and 90's. Kinda new wave'ish and it brought me back to my long gone Saturday nights. Great energy. mark
  7. You can usually create a new midi track , pick a channel for it that's different from your first recording and make sure the new midi track is going to the right synth. Set the input to your midi controller if you're using one. Record on your new track and you Should be able to hear everything. Your input echo for the new track should be "on" and the track should be in focus. Input echo should also be on in your "interface". I've had problems in the past doing it this way setting the volume on the new track without affecting the first recording , but the gain knob in the mixer view works. Good luck .. mark
  8. Nio , personally I Loved the ending. For me it was Perfect. Fantastic lead guitar playing. I think the left guitar in the beginning of the song got a little loud , it was swelling up too much in spots. Your Great vocals could also be brought up in the beginning. When the song got heavier , about 1:20 the mix was Very nice. I loved the Spanish feel in the strong intro section and the really quick flamenco part. This was wonderful to listen to , not even knowing what you were singing about. Very impressed .. mark
  9. "Thanks" to everyone for the Wonderful replies. I sent a copy of this to Marlon at White Noise Studio. He was one of the guests on the podcast. He got back with me with some detailed suggestions. I've remixed but haven't posted it. One big change is the cello is now in the center and the guitars play back and forth on either side of it. Sounds Way better. He want's to use my project for a mixing video on his you tube channel , then send me the final mix. Someday this song will be Finished .. mark
  10. Simply "beautiful" . Fantastic job on the drums , no need to wait on a drummer again .. I Really liked the kick and the dreamy guitar solos. I can't believe the difference in this mix , and the very first one you posted. Vocal was Great. I knew you would eventually nail this one. mark
  11. Dave , Great moving production. Your creativity is amazing ! Loved it .. mark

    Callisto

Bjorn, I thought the guitar fit in Perfect with the other ambient sounds. I found this Very captivating. Loved it .. mark

    OMD Remix

Totally agree with Jesse , I commented before the original mix was up. If the 2 versions were volume matched I believe It would be easier to compare. mark
  14. Thanks Larry , I was actually referring to the single guitar that drags a chord out like the one in the intro , and then is used in quite a few more spots. Same question .. By the way , really nice keyboard work . Thanks mark
  15. Loved that sweeping guitar . Very nice , was it an automated pan or vst .. Also liked the breakdown into the low pitched instrument . Enjoyed it .. mark
  16. Cool song and Great job by Everybody. Who is doing the vocals ? I'm hearing an EQ change on the mix from around 2:33 to about 3:00 where the highs seem to drop out then come back in. It seems pretty obvious especially on the lead guitar. I think the lead could be ducked a little under the vocals and brought back up between phrases. Just my first impressions. I Really enjoyed it , don't hear much metal around here .. mark
  17. Hello , I've started a new project using the basic template. I seem to be missing some acoustic guitar EQ presets in the pro channel. The only one showing up is "big and bright" and is the only one I used in my last project. I know there were 4 or 5 to choose from in the past. Is there a way to easily restore them , I don't have a clue why they are missing. mark

    OMD Remix

Beautiful remix Gary , the piano sounds even better now. All of the instruments sound Very authentic and the vocals are Perfect. Nice hearing it again .. mark
  19. Also , If you change your snap to grid setting to something like 1/64 you can usually find a good spot between notes to cut your clip. The aim assist will show you exactly where it is on the timeline for pasting. This also helps with retaining pickup notes. ms
  20. The original version of this was featured on episode 11 of Mikes Creative Sauce "Featured Artists" You Tube channel. (even with all the mistakes) All in all it went pretty good . I knew they would get a kick out of my recording in a horse barn and they ran with it.. This is a remix per their suggestions. I made quite a few changes and brought in my cello and additional bass to fill in the lows and mids. I'll always like the original version , but this one is really growing on me. I hate to bump it back up but I think I finally have some bragging rights. Thanks .. mark
  21. Very nice lead work and Great vocals. I agree some Hammond would be "real nice". I think the mix would be more Solid with a more laid back rhythm track. It seems to have some timing issues and gets a little busy to help the feel of the song. I think the drums and great vocals could come up a little . Hope you don't think I'm getting too picky because I Really did like it .. mark
  22. PJH , Episode 12 was in stereo . It still had some streaming glitches , but nobody had to wonder about panning enhancements. Your mono mix was Very Nice , the stereo mix was "Incredible" mark
  23. A good set of monitors will be fine for decades. Keep an eye on Craigslist for people who have upgraded and selling off older gear. Sometimes you can get a Great deal , when they eventually give up on trying to re-coop their investment. You'll eventually really need monitors and headphones. ms
  24. Cubic lights , I have a laptop with "beats" audio speakers and they're somehow tied to the sound card so , even headphones go thru their idea of how music should sound , (and I can't seem to change it) . I know it is not a good representation of the recorded material , so "I don't really worry about it" . Some material sounds Fantastic ! Some material doesn't . Even Bose audio has put out players with no way to make EQ adjustments. I think eventually you just have to Trust your ears and monitors. About the only thing I do after exporting a song and playing it thru Windows media player is , bringing up the equalizer and toggling thru the EQ presets for the player . This at least will provide me with a few "minor" enhancements provided by different players. It's a process that I rarely get right the first few time thru . I eventually give up and accept the results before it drives me crazy . mark
  25. @Flemming Jessen , Sorry .. I don't have a reliable answer but , just out of curiosity what do you do with a vocal midi track after you successfully capture it ? mark
