  1. I love the guitar part-cool tone and expressive legato playing. Reminds me of Bill Frisell. There is a recurring electronic click that sounds like a record skip that I don't thing needs to be there. Cheers, Bert
  2. Delightful tune and lyric. I love the simplicity of the arrangement and the cheerful sincerity of the vocal. Cheers, Bert
  3. I am definitely going to repost a remix and address the drum issues, but I accidently hosed my DAW and its in the shop.now. Apparently you can't get parts in a timely fashion these days. BG
  4. Thanks Daryl, I appreciate the feedback. I was kind of playing around with the sound of the drums and they are kind of sharp. Bert
  5. Good tune and well done. You can make some great stuff with just 4 tracks- ask the Beatles. I used to have a TEAC Portastudio and I would record midi rythm tracks (bass, drums, KB) from Cakewalk 1.0 onto tracks 1& 2 in stereo, and then put vocals, leads, GTR,etc on 3 & 4. You could get a lot of parts into your recording that way. As Brian Wilson would say : "saturate the tape". Cheers, Bert
  6. I really like this- playing all around one of my favorite tunes : Secret Agent Man ! It has that modal feel that struck me about the original. Yeah, it sounds a lot like a Bond soundtrack, but I have never been sure who stole from who with that. Most likely P F Sloane nicked it from the movie. Massively cool, none the less. Strat nirvana. I wish I could do that. Cheers, Bert

    Cold Rain

Very cool sustained mood to this instrumental track. I love the legato, nuanced playing of the strat, not to mention the tone. And the sound of the organ is just right. I'm not sure the synth-strings add much. Cheers, Bert
  8. A really cool pro-level track with an equally cool, pro video. Love the slo-mo tomato-face impact, Great momentum in the music. Good stuff all the way around. No crits to offer. Cheers, Bert
  9. "I havn't heard one of your projects in awhile, but it sounds like your still doing a lot of tight, hard rock riffing, Cool 7/8 bash. GTR rock to the max. Good stuff as usual, Bert hi bert!! where've you been?! i post stuff ALL the time! heheh (Bats)" Its on me, Bats- I havn't recorded or posted anything for a good while. Bert
  10. I havn't heard one of your projects in awhile, but it sounds like your still doing a lot of tight, hard rock riffing, Cool 7/8 bash. GTR rock to the max. Good stuff as usual, Bert
  11. Great title and probably the story of my life. I love the swing in the rythm section- I wish I could that, Cheers, Bert
  12. Energetic rocker with a good loose, live feel. My only crit is that the vocals are drowned out here and there. Cheers, Bert
  13. Interesting observation, there. Thanks for listening. Bert
  14. Yeah, the high hat in the 3rd verse is brutal. This an initial mix and I will redo it. Thanks for listening, Jack Cheers, Bert
  15. I remixed and remastered with the forum's crits in mind :https://www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=14295527 I upgraded my DAW for Christmas (UA Apollo Twin/Sonar X3/Windows 7) and I thought I would do some covers to learn how it all worked. This is my first finished project and its a cover of what I think is one of the greatest American songs ever written. Any comments or crits about mixing. mastering, recording, sound processing etc, will be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Bert
  16. I really like deese F-monkeys. This cool tune has a 60's vibe- kinda Kinks to my ears. Great bassline , Bapps- I love the way it throbs. Cheers, Bert
  17. Jess, I havn't checked out one of your projects in a good while- its sounds like you are in different bag now: electronic music. Pretty cool stuff, here, with surprises & contrasts in the sounds employed. I like the way its spread out with the sounds, distinct and unique, punching in and out, Great stereo image. Its cuts out at the end- is that what you wanted ? Cheers, Bert
  18. A truly heavy tune, well delivered. The only thing I would suggest is that you play the lead line on your accoustic guitar. The introduction of the electric that late in the song almost broke the mood for me. Strong lyrics, nonetheless. Bert
  19. Larry, Really cool fugue that sounds like a loop, but really isn't. I like the pulsing quality this composition has. Cheers, Bert
  20. Jesse, I love the way this swings and sways. Great bass/FRhodes/synth groove. Focused and loose. I think you are on to something, here. Nobody else sounds like this. Cheers, Bert
  21. Very tasty Brubeckian groove you have here ! The sax is in the pocket. Cheers, Bert
  22. Laid back sunny track. Your singing is expressive- I can feel what you're feeling. Its all good. Cheers, Bert
  23. Kenny, you be jammin' good, here ! And its so cool that you were inspired by PF Sloan's classic Secret Agent Man. I was struck by that song the first time I heard it (as a 7th grader) as the theme song for the eponymous forgotten TV show. It had a droning, exotic feel that I now attribute to it being played in Dorian mode. During the only brief band experience I have had, my only contribution to the set list was SAM. We played it once live, and I was so uptight that I absolutely boogered the vocal. That is my only experience singing a solo in public. I posted a version on the old CW forum a while back: https://www.soundclick.com/html5/v4/player.cfm?songID=13224423 BTW, I saw Johnny Rivers in Vegas @ Boulder Station, 2006. God was he good! The droning intro to SAM was the intro to the whole show and the full song was the climax. Great live musician and singer, JR is. Bert
  24. Tom, yu da bomb! A richly textured techno groove number with a very well composed piano line that adds interest & warmth. You have big bag of tricks and keyboard chops to match. Always a pleasure to check out your latest project, Bert
  25. Jesse, This is an amazing suite you have created, here. A crawling, dissonant ballad gives way to a melting, dissonant funk groove gives way to a melting, dissonant rock riff... And there is more. Your ability to marry the lyric with the vocal and instrumental is remarkable. Its all of one piece for sure. This strikes me as an ambitious project that you reeled in. Its a cold bowl of chili when love lets you down. Cheers, Bert
