Also have a look at ADPTR’s new Hype distortion plugin. Pretty great on harmonics.

I thought it was all just a bunch of HYPE though 😛

Holy crap, the conspiracy theorists might be onto something...I just got a YouTube recommendation for a video titled "How to Use Trash". I haven't watched any videos on the subject in 10 years.  My only possible keyword leak occurred just now, when I called Trash "trash" in this thread. The eyes are everywhere!

Yes, I watched the video. Even in the hands of an iZotope product specialist it still sounds like trash. But now and forever, YouTube will be sending me similar recommendations. Guess I'll have to pull up a Flat Earth vid just to keep the algorithm on its toes.

Them cookies can be smelled a mile away where YouTube is located. I just accepted the fact that conspiracy theorists are conspiracy prophets now days. Also we never got a chance to take the red pill because the government has been pouring blue pill in our drinking water for years. 😛

The Youtube community doesn't seem that impressed from what I've seen. Perhaps Izotope didn't pay enough? That being said, Trash 2 is/was an absolute staple in modern EDM/techno/hardcore. One could say it influenced the direction of multiple genres, which is a pretty significant accomplishment.

From what I've seen and knowing that community a bit, this won't replace Trash 2.

Francisco Partners will observe that Izotope listened to customers and issued a new Trash but no one bought it. They will ignore the reality that the new version did not really meet customer expectations. It will become a convenient excuse to not let customer requests drive product offering decision-making in the future.

This is sad because, as with NI, what the customers really want here is innovation and company dedication to perfecting released products through meaningful, ongoing, feature-request-responsive, non-abandoned development.

Oh, nice. I hadn't installed Trash 2 on a new machine since IIRC it wasn't going to be updated for Apple M1 and would eventually stop working. Glad they're updating it... but I haven't even watched the product video yet. $25 is a good upgrade offer too. But I know that in of six months or a year it's likely to be bundled in an MPS bundle upgrade or similar... upgrade pricing is tough I suppose.

For YouTube recommendations, I might suggest the reason for suddenly suggesting the v1 video might be that 1) Trash 2.0 was some of the biggest audio news on Monday, 2) other people who watch music production videos watched that v1 video, and it was highly-rated from before, so 3) YouTube will quickly start suggesting it to others who watch music production videos
