About Me

  1. Here you go, Everything is covered. You can cheat and skip ahead on the playlist to the ones about Midi but if your new to Cakewalk it's very advisable to watch them all and you will be up to speed in no time. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7YqVth30eGt7K5L5fUIUF_UjCsdAVCbd
  2. Sorry I probably copied my link from within the editing software. It’s in my signature and in the tutorial sub forum as well. I fixed it. My reference to midi can be unreliable under certain conditions. I too started performing using midi files and an Atari computer with sound modules in about 1984. Stuck notes, wrong patch changes etc. were pretty common for us back then. So possibly my experience with midi was resolved with better hardware latter on. But I learned to not trust it to always sound the same. I was happy when the Sony Mini disk system came out in the 90's as that not only remove 100 lbs of gear, it was rock solid dependable. I still have all my original Midi files and many of my backing tracks started life back then. My latest live performance playback is I now make videos of some the songs that in my old age I'm rusty about lyrics. Yep, sort of Karaoke but not quite. The lyrics don't scroll they just display 4 lines at a time as the song progresses so it's more like using a song book. I might even add reminders like don't forget the capo! The backing tracks are the same as I've always used just Drums, bass and Keyboards. They have always been high quality Wave files. Even the Mini Disk was very high quality. Now the VST instruments I use are way better than those sounds from my old Korg module. The Ample P bass lite is the first midi bass I've every given a thumb's up too ever. The rest sound like someone farting to me. I made many backing tracks that featured real bass and sometimes real drums. Those were some of my very first Cakewalk project about 2004. I have a whole Cakewalk playlist rig set up but I find a few issues with it being slower for things like if I decide to skip a bunch of songs. I use Win Amp and a foot switch. Also the video view seems buggy. My only reason for thinking of using the playlist is one band I have we are all multi instrumentalists who like to play bass. I wanted optional mixes. In the end it was easier just to create those mixes as split stereo with the bass in the left and drums in the right. We run the Bass track to a bass amp and have a A/B switch to swap out to the real bass.
  3. Yes, I use the Playlist feature all the time when performing live. It's great. I didn't realize that I could use projects in the PlayList feature. I thought it was only MIDI. I've also been using MIDI since it's inception many many years ago. I used to perform with racks of keyboards, drum machines and sound modules all connected via MIDI to a sequencer. Only in the past few years have I downsized and use Bandlab Cakewalk through a single Yamaha MU100 sound module. It's been working great! I've never experienced any issues with MIDI so am not clear what issues you are referring to.
  4. I think your saving as a Midi file. You need to use Normal file format CWP to create projects. Midi files only save the data and the TTS_1 is Cakewalks default to play midi files. A lot of this I covered in the midi tutorials. which are here on my new playlist. Scroll down to around the 9th video where I start explaining midi stuff. Looks like he beat me to it by 3 seconds... https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7YqVth30eGt7K5L5fUIUF_UjCsdAVCbd
  5. Just noticed this today as I have very few files that use the "Loop" function. Project will only play until end of loop and then stops abruptly to load and play next project. Currently running Ver 2020.11 and love it !

Always liked this one. Would fit right in with any playlist of favorites from my sizeable Fusion collection.
  7. What about loop disable when i load a project from the playlist saved previously with loop enable?

Hi . Thanks again for your consideration if this ...I'm not exporting ... I just open a blank template . Then I take an audio file from a folder in the pc where I keep downloaded backing tracks or karaoke tracks . So I take one of those files and drag it or double click it into an audio track ..I do ALT A . to select CLIP FOLLOW PROJECT TEMPO ..then I set the project tempo....then I go to SAVE PROJECT AS...... and give the CW project a name and I save the projects to a folder of Cakewalk projects.....When I start a new PLAYLIST i use my pc browser to go the my cakewalk projects folder then I double click to load a particular project file ( song) I to the playlist .....Then comes the problem ..if I start the playlist the tempo and pitch if the songs is high ... But if I close the playlist and just open the project file the song plays fine . I'm baffled . Lol. But listen I appreciate your comments . Thank you
  9. Off Topic ... not available for me. Here's a YouTube playlist: The Cure - 17 Seconds (Full Album)
  10. My experience is the playlist is a little sensitive to playing “dirty “ projects. Best to keep them dead simple. If your plan is to use it live in front of a large group of people then to avoid embarrassing your self always go for bulletproof technology that tested 100% reliable. The playlist will work but you need to see it’s limitations and for me keeping projects simple was the answer. Only use solid VST’s or bounce everything to audio tracks with no active effects. Definitely no looping. I’m not even sure I would trust the arranger.
  11. Playlist is not responding to my computer keyboard inputs. The W key no longer opens the Delay dialogue. Spacebar does not always initiate play. When I click on the (-) to get playlist out of the way, it used to shrink to a tab in the lower left. Now it hides somewhere.
  12. Your experience with these platforms may vary depending on your specific needs and goals. It's essential to choose playlist placement that align with your objectives. For example, if you're primarily looking to distribute and sell your music, platforms like Bandcamp might be more suitable. If you're seeking exposure and collaboration opportunities, SoundCloud or Drooble might be worth exploring.

  14. Hi, the loop (yellow flags) still disable when i load a song from the playlist regards. Jordi
  15. @Lord Tim 1. I sort of thought so but someone the other day said something about re sizing and that's why I asked. I guess they were refering to the method I often use but I'm sort of lazy and I just tend to shoot a screenshot and I only crop them. I guess it's not hard to re size using the photos editing tools. And the You Tubes I'm aware of the link option and I often use that as well I put my Channel Playlist in my signature but many people use cell phones and signatures don't show. But a thought will be to have little thumbnails on hand I just insert as unlinked pictures. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7YqVth30eGt7K5L5fUIUF_UjCsdAVCbd 2. The problem with that is I cannot confirm what happens as I already have Cakewalk installed. So I will have to assume it is very obvious to people that they can install the SI suite. But many people are using the Bandlab assistant still because it's an option on the web page. And all the tutorials tell people to use it because they are outdated now. I have totally avoided mentioning anything about how to install Cakewalk in my tutorials because it kept changing and I'm still not dead sure how it works. My only choice would be to totally uninstall it from one of my computers and start over I guess. Thanks as that does clear it up. But I was hoping there was a direct link.
  16. I've used Win Amp since I guess 2004 without any issues on it's behalf. And the big reason I stayed with it is it seems the only player that allows you to set it to " Manual Playlist Advance" Someone said Foobar also works but I haven't tried it yet. I do not want to have to press STOP when a song ends. Win Amp has a huge selection of options to customize. Little things like the playlist font size. Those things make a huge difference. Example in pour lighting conditions like outside on a sunny day. Playback is controlled using keyboard shortcut grouping of the lower left row -Z-X-C-V-B Z=back, X =Play and so on. I have my Stealth foot switch programed for these. But for simple set ups it's easy to use these keys. I have them marked. But generally like to perform with my hands on my guitar at all times. ( unless there's a cold one within reach) Win Amp can have just about any type of media files mixed in your playlist. Including Midi. Of course that plays the dreaded MS wavetable synth. I just recently have started adding Video files. And my Backing tracks are a crazy mix of MP3, Wave 44.1 and 48. It doesn't care. I have spent hours researching different software for live performance and it's always missing these key features. Here is my list of what I require and Win Amp does this all except the midi data output and the 2 track limitation. 1- Stop at end of song 2-Drag and drop playlist editing on the fly at the gig. 3-Hot keys for playback control 4-Custom Font Size 5-PLay a mix of file formats including Video 6-GUI is resizable to fit anywhere on screen. 7-Midi output 8-Display lyrics ( can do this with video) 9-play 4 to 6 tracks of audio 10-Save multiple Playlists 11- Print a set list
  17. Best thing you can do if you are new to Cakewalk is watch the tutorials which will most certainly explain what to do and how you use midi , audio etc. Here is the playlist.

  20. Here we go again. Watch this first. https://youtu.be/opDwsC4_llg Then you might want to watch them all to answer other issues. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7YqVth30eGsURWrKGeu-fFyg3ETjF-Ox
  21. I was going to say to lock the clips. That is a great way to protect them some. I like folders better than hiding clips. That way all of the other tracks are only one click away. There are several ways to level the different take. First, you should use the volume to adjust them as close as you can. Some people use compressors and limiters to help level audio. These are good, but my favorite plugins are an all in one solution. There are many on the market. Some of my favorite are Waves MV2 and Vocal Rider (these two can be used together) or WA Productions Outlaw. Be sure to check out the deals forum before you buy any plugins! Outlaw will let you set a LUFS range which might be a plus later on. There are some good tools built into the cakewalk pro channel as well. Others - Waves - playlist rider Plugin alliance - Master Desk, Master Desk pro Sonible - Smart Limit Hornet Audio - several inexpensive gain rider plugins You should probably look at Outlaw 1st! https://www.waproduction.com/plugins/view/outlaw Good luck with your project. There is plenty of good help here.
  22. This is the whole series here on this playlist which i you are a new user will help you learn quickly how Cakewalk works. There's a video on the topic of Audio set up that should solve your currant issue.
  23. Ya I deleted all my videos last winter. It sucks that You Tube has no way to update videos so links won’t die. But I probably won’t be redo that particular video because I’m not even sure what it was about? I’ve redone some of them but put that aside for now. I’m waiting for the new versions before I waist too much time on the old one. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7YqVth30eGsURWrKGeu-fFyg3ETjF-Ox&si=3cyicYjqpob4CPV2
