About Me

  1. $99 intro price Kontakt Player https://fracturesounds.com/product/string-formations/
  2. Hi All, is there a way to quickly measure region length in seconds/milliseconds? For my workflow, I constantly need to measure time from one sound to another for implementation or to send to my engineer (e.g. Start File1, wait 870 ms, start File2 at volume 0 and fade in 1250ms, wait 500ms, start File3). For example, if you highlight a region, the "export" menu shows the project and selection in frames. This number format is not affected by the time ruler format. Sometimes I'll just quickly use that and calculate it (5:15 = 5.500 sec) but it's not always accurate enough at 1/30 of a second (33 ms chunks). For the last 10 years, my normal go-to is just to drop a marker at the two spots, set my time view to time in ms, and just do the math in a calculator (33625-32000=1625ms between markers). I would love just to shift-select the time bar and see the length in milliseconds. Thought I'd ask here to make sure I didn't miss something simple. Thanks!
  3. This is the answer. Null tests aren't "Hearing" tests". Null out the main signal and you kill the harmonics present in the audio because you won't hear them! There was a HUGE thread in the old Cakewalk forum that asserted that ALL DAW'S are the same "sonically" and it used the "Null" test to prove it. Null tests prove NOTHING other than that the MAIN content has been nulled out. Everything left behind after that you're not going to hear.
  4. Yep..just figured that out as when I re-opened it it was right where I left it. Don't know if I like that or not...time will tell
  5. Hi guys. I've been playing around with the great AudioSnap tool and need some help. 😍 I have a click track (audio, not midi) which is not very constant in tempo but perfectly aligned with live recording. Now I am trying to align measures (bars) to it. I use "Set Project From Clip" (Beat resolution) button to build tempos from 01:01:000 to the end of the clip (song). The clip is about 4 minutes long. And for the first 21 bars everything goes fine. But after that, the tempo sets are not built right. The measures (bars) are starting to diverge from the audio. That being said, Transient Markers (peaks) detected correctly (see screen), but for some reason Cakewalk refuses to adjust tempos further to stay aligned with markers... Is it by design or I am doing something wrong? There is a neat slowdown at the end of bar 21 (I think it's called "ritenuto") after which the tempo restores during a bar or two to approximately original one. How can I persuade Cakewalk to adjust tempos in this area a bit more aggressively? :) Seems like there should be some sort of thresholds for this setting too (like the threshold for markers volume).
  6. Since I have the entire Apollo/UAD ecosystem, I'm wetting my pants (just a little) to try this out. 4 Day weekend coming up for me.
  7. ah yes! set timeline to millisecond, then place the markers to align on clips etc - helps to define the spacing, then just drag in the timeline from marker 1 to marker 2 and you can read out the duration. in the example 00:00:14.732 between the 2 markers (ignore the now time)

  9. Yet, it say log out as my username as if I am logged in. Also, I see nothing about where to activate other than two opions for offline activation, export and import activation request. I am afraid they are going to take the free version away by making this difficult to activate again, and I have been using the free version for a long time. How do I do a FINAL activation to keep using the free version for good or until I can afford the new Sonar? Thanks for any help.
  10. Frankly, I am antipathetic to UA! First, because their installation is so weird even their plugins are iLok authorized and second, because they start processes to do updates when you are using their plugins (I did not find out how to avoid this)!
  11. Haven't used it but I'm not sure I really understand the whole compete with other DAWs concept. Many people only need a glorified tape recorder that has the ability to record audio tracks and VSTis and add VST based effects to those tracks and the ability to do the most basic of editing on those tracks (volume automation, MIDI note editing and dynamics). Advanced arrangement and key change tools (ala Studio One) are a more advanced feature set - and certainly the minority need them. Once you enter the "free" class - basic functionality and support for 3rd party addons is all that is needed to be competitive with a good workflow and UI. I've used Cakewalk / Sonar for decades now and don't need 80% of what it is theoretically capable of. I'll be interested if Bandlab comes out with Sonar at a price point that doesn't make sense for me. Otherwise would love to stick with it.
  12. I was just belly moaning about this. $47.84 here each. Microshift wasn't showing up until I actually activated it onto an iLok, which is kinda weird- normally I expect the opposite for crossgrades/surrenders/etc. Happy camper with this crossgrade price point. And yeah- they can be used as stereo and are slightly different than the current stereo ones. Excited to try out during my next Atmos mix, but will dig into the stereo versions of the immersive today.
  13. Thanks Noel. I am out of town for a while and will check this out when home. I just did a fresh install as requested by staff due to Crash dump submission. I totally removed both Sonar and Cakewalk. Note the instructions they sent to me for a clean install seemed outdated and they were for Cakewalk not Sonar. But I think I managed to accomplish this . I did not reinstall CbB and not planning on it. So just Sonar going forward. I do have Splat and 8.5 as well. But hopefully they weren’t causing the conflict. I was also having crash issues with Vegas pro so I need to see what’s going on. I just built the computer last November. Could be something I never set up to optimize like in the bios. And I was definitely logged in as it was a case were I had just downloaded from web site and installed. I got multiple messages about logging in, a new update? , additional updates etc. So I logged in and on restart I still had the new version available message which seems odd due to just downloading it. So I re installed and one done I got that membership and the log in messages again. A similar sequence of events happened on my laptop as well. Others have commented on all the seemingly weird toast messages like updating help and studio instruments which are all ready installed after you install the update. I think this is also happening with CbB.
  14. Unfortunately, I have credit with a chain that is going out of business. The biggest thing I think I'd like is MIDI keyboard ...so what works best Cakewalk/Sonar and possibly an DAW I may use. Basically meaning the most compatible with all DAWS. Polyphonic aftertouch seems like useful feature. But any feedback is appreciated. Also, what kind of "little" things for a studio might be a good grab? Thanks in advance.
  15. Another thing to rule out... some custom mouse drivers can cause issues. I use a Kensington trackball, and their driver was causing no end of issues for me. Uninstalling it and sticking to the default Windows mouse driver solved that issue.
  16. Just trying out EZY Keys, really good toy so thanks Lynn 😉 THE REMIX IS BELOW so see what you think .. and thanks for the listen 🎧 THE REMIX IS BELOW

  24. Pacific - Solo Strings is finally released. Thank you for your immense patience with this one. There are also a couple of other libraries available. Vista II - Solo Cello Legato is one, which is the first module in the Vista II series. I explored a new approach to legato, which was an interesting experience and something I hope to do more with. And then there's Fluid Shorts III, a continuation of the rep-sampled string ensemble shorts series with some soloists thrown in as well. I plan to upload a 'patch play-through' for both Pacific - Solo Strings and Fluid Shorts III in the coming time, as well as fill out some more website details regarding the GUI/controls for Pacific - Solo Strings. Pacific - Brass is my next release and just about ready to upload to servers. I put a video on the Performance Samples Youtube channel some time ago which has some early listens to upcoming libraries (please see the time codes). I've been uploading informal previews of upcoming libraries and snippets of what I'm working on, if you happen to be interested in following. The last thing I wanted to mention is that I made a simple guide which will hopefully alleviate some challenges or confusion during the checkout process for Pacific - Solo Strings. I also routinely update my FAQs with more info regarding the checkout process, orders, and so on. $79 Loyalty Intro | $149 Normal Intro https://www.performancesamples.com/pacific-solostrings/ https://www.performancesamples.com/vistaii-solocellolegato/
