  1. No need for a fresh install of Windows. Re-run the Cakewalk installers as needed, use full or advanced install options as desired and if you end up installing a legacy Cakewalk DAW (the actual DAW itself not just the plug-ins only from an advanced install) make sure to re-run the CbB install when done. Here is a more detailed discussion including a link io a legacy plug-in spreadsheet
  2. Cakewalk Next Beta is available on Mac and Windows Cakewalk Sonar is Windows only (just like the CbB it replaces)
  3. Really? To quote David Byrne, "How do I work this?" see the To create new arrangement based on an existing arrangement section in http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Arranging.08.html
  4. Probably the two DAWs are configured differently; missing features suggest different workspace settings.
  5. Chances are CbB is running in ASIO driver mode. Unlike the native Windows driver modes, you may only use one ASIO driver at a time. To change ASIO drivers deselect BOTH the current input and output preferences THEN make the new selection.
  6. Celemony Capstan has a demo and may be rented instead of having to buy it. Alternately Zynaptic Pitchmap has I/O frequency adjustments in addition to the key mapping which may work in this case but can't do anything about analog pitch drift.
  7. I don't use Kontakt but there are quite a few threads regarding Kontakt and the CbB per-project preference setting Zero Controllers When Play Stops This is likely the cause of the volume change.
  8. The two solutions offered in detail how to handle VST2/3 plug-ins capable of generating MIDI data. Both methods are essentially the same addressing the subtle differences between FX and synth plug-ins in CbB. ALL VST2/3 plug-ins in CbB MUST be associated with at least one audio track either by placing the plug-in in an audio FX rack or as the input of a audio track. Note: instrument tracks fulfill this requirement because they are actually a presentation of an audio+MIDI track pair.
  9. From their website: So, it loads and works in CbB just like any other MIDI I/O capable VST2/3 plug-in. IOW, it is not an MFX in the CbB sense as all MFX plug-ins like the ones bundled with CbB are DX format NOT VST2/3 format. Here is how to handle VST plug-ins that generate MIDI data.

  13. For years, the recommendation is NOT to blindly import old settings. Better to use modern default settings and modify the new defaults as needed.
  14. The "Generic Low Latency ASIO Driver" is an optional driver installed by Steinberg products and like ASIO4ALL should NOT be installed if a factory ASIO driver is available. Either uninstall the generic driver or at least remove its entry from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO
  15. Yeah, to repeat, if the default is set to Directshow and Here is a tip from the link I posted above regarding how to tell which video engine is running
  16. Access to video start time requires the old DirectShow video engine. Here is how to set the default video engine. If the video format is not supported by DirectShow, the DAW falls back to the Media Foundation engine.

    Latency when armed

The fastest way to determine if plug-in delay compensation is adding the to latency problem is toggle the FX button in the Mix module. If the latency is significantly reduced, one or more plug-ins somewhere in the project are at least part of the problem. If it turns out the plug-ins are on the track being recorded the PDC button may help otherwise consider bypassing or temporarily replacing the high PDC plug-ins.
  18. To select a different ASIO driver completely deselect both input and output devices before making a new selection.
  19. Usually the "dotted line" ends when the actual clip starts. This is indicative of a broadcast wave file being positioned far down the timeline based on the timestamp in the file. Try deselecting Always Import Broadcast Waves at Their Timestamp in CbB preferences
  20. 👍 Great indeed! I wasn't aware of this PDF documentation, and I usually got lost in an online help with broken pictures. While issues with web-based help images are usually addressed by allowing images from unsecured servers, there are other options. The web-based help is most frequently updated. Updates to this help system may happen at any time. CbB 2022.09 re-introduced the local help option. This compiled html file is updated at least once with every major release. See Always Use Local Help for more info. The Reference Guide is the same information using pdf format, published as time permits and generally lags behind the web-based and local help systems.
  21. But its not available as plugin right, its only a prochannel module The original PC-2A, the plug-in currently bundled with CbB, is PC format only. The CA-2A, a paid upgrade to the PC-2A which is no longer available, came in several formats for PC and Mac.
  22. Simply copying plug-in binaries will not get them installed correctly. The proper way to install the two plug-ins is locate the last version of 64bit SONAR available to you that included the plug-ins and use the Advanced install option to select and install the plug-ins. The SONAR plug-in spreadsheet mentioned in this post may help
