Very cool piece Treesha . . . an excellent sonic painting, enjoyed on headphones and speakers . . . you've certainly captured a feeling of stress and uneasiness, sounds modal, not tonal . . . did you intend that, or did it just work out that way ? Either way, really like the different feeling it evokes.

    A Musical?

Nicely done ! . . . does it come with an Elvis or Andy Kaufman vocal emulation ?, LOL . . . yes, I actually really enjoyed this, reminded me of a fun radio commercial advertisement I heard recently . . . but for musical theatre you could really do some cool things with this !
  3. Hey Mark . . . another fab creation from the southern stringmeister ! . . . amazing guitar work, you always deliver the goods. Really enjoyed this, it's very catchy, the piano gives a jazz combo feel, but the Monterey eventually steals the show. You really hit every fret on this one ! How many guitars do you actually have, not sure we've heard this one before ? (that's a nice looking guitar, you shouldn't just leave it laying in the leaves like that)
  4. Hi Dean . . . I was actually referring to a musical style . . . the bolero (not the dance style) "Boléro, one-movement orchestral work composed by Maurice Ravel and known for beginning softly and ending, according to the composer's instructions, as loudly as possible." . . . but glad you had a good laugh
  5. Hey Candy Man . . . really enjoyed this ! . . . rocking bolero building thing that it is. Certainly is great at keeping a listener's interest with all you have going on, the way you introduce different instruments is quite effective, element of surprise, and love the guitar work. Did you ever play with a band called Kansas, maybe a fan ? Ha, reminded me of them a lot. Again, super enjoyable listen !
  6. Really enjoyed this . . . all the way through ! The guitar really sings it out, and some excellent vocals and BG's . . . "back seat of my car" indeed.
  7. Lots to like here Lynn ! Interesting, swirling and evolving as it goes, cool sound effects panned all round, you've really experimented in the audio recording here. (Yes, I think you always do) I found the verse chord progression very different, and really like the way it chromatically bends my ear. Also, enjoyed your guitar playing and effects that you use there. The ending, hmmm. sounds like someone pulled the power plug. maybe that's what you intended . . . to tie in the lyrics . . . though, I kinda' wish "musically", maybe an explosion, or edgy sound effect might have wrapped it up it better. As always, just a great inspiring listen !
  8. Liking this one Wayne ! . . . you've got a good pop voice, and nicely intertwined with those alternating electric guitar melodies . . . nicely surprised when the strings came in, and totally works the way you've done it . . . glad to hear you posting here with your long white hair and all Looking forward to some more . . .

    Just Bones

@treesha . . . I really enjoyed listening to this one . . . and agree with @Johnbee58 that it doesn't have an obvious genre, the harmonies are perhaps medieval sounding, but of course you've put it against an interesting and modern rhythm track, it's also a very sound audio recording, well done there . . . just very fascinating to my ears, thanks for posting it here !
  10. Mark, a bit of a different collaboration here. You suggested your "Sunrise Funk" groove might possibly need a vocal, so I threw you an idea . . . and you totally ran with it, and created this whole authentic storyline. It was just amazing to watch it unfold into this great and fun song . . . your creativity always inspires me, and many others here I'm sure. Bruce
  11. Paul, this one sounds great to my ears, it's a very well written song ! lots of different pieces that keep the interest . . . from your introduction at the top of the thread, sounds like you ran the gamut of feelings about it, but trust me, this one turned out really good. The harmonies really stand out, and I always love your lead vocals, you've also got a warm expressive and melodic sound to that lead guitar. If I were the drummer on this one (only in my dreams) I would be banging those toms a lot more, (hint, hint) Mix wise, the one thing I noticed was the 3rd chorus volume or intensity dips a bit. Also, it sounds like you were inspired by some of those same British bands I admire as well . . .

    Elevation

What a great recording, very smooth and silky , shoulders down + mind up kinda' thing, most enjoyable !
  13. Super guitar playing, and excellent rhythm section . . . really lovin' the revival of this old nugget, certainly shines now !
  14. Nice up-tempo . . . the way this groove unfolds, so many vocal possibilities . . . Pop, R&B, jazz scat, it could go in a lot of directions vocally . . . guitar work is excellent as always, probably a song to be written here . . .

    "Remember" _Colab

WOW, Sounds excellent . . . great job everybody ! The end result really has a great live feel to it, regardless of how it was conceived, sounds like a tower of power or chicago transit authority piece . . . coolness factor way high for my ears ! Like the vocals a lot too, is that Grem ?
  16. @KSband thanks for having a listen ! Yes, there is a definite bond when you create music together with someone, finding out this week how that stays, even when they are gone.
  17. Big and Epic says it all. Very enjoyable listen. ! @Bristol_Jonesey You've been around Cakewalk sites a long while, I don't think I've heard any of your stuff posted here before, always thought you were a recording studio guy, but you are very obviously an accomplished composer, most impressive !
  18. Bjorn . . . absolutely beautiful piece, just what I needed. You've certainly captured the alternating strum and plucking of a nylon guitar, and your orchestral arrangement really soars in the middle part. Enjoyed to the max !
  19. Bjorn . . . thanks for your kind comments. Yes, all things must pass . . . so make some music while you're here. A wise friend once told me to never believe we are only dust in the wind.
  20. Nigel . . . thanks, great to hear you liked it. Regards to you and your friends . . . I find there are not a lot of words for such things, but music heals. Bruce
  21. Hey Mark . . . glad to hear you enjoyed it, yes, friends gone but the music lives on. Kind of a melancholy week for me, listening to a lot of old recordings . . . but will need to write something new very soon to express it all !
  22. I had the great pleasure of working with my long time friend Daniel in a songwriting and recording studio a few years back. Well, I got the news of his passing this last week, so wanted to post one of my favourite pieces we worked on together. Daniel was quite the synthesizer wizard . . . right from getting out the soldering gun to creating the sounds. In this one I think he used E-mu Proteus/1 rack mount, Rhodes Chroma Polaris, MemoryMoog, and a DX7. Hope you enjoy, a bit long for a pop song (as a keyboardist, he did enjoy his Tony Banks and Genesis) I don't have individual tracks, so just trying to tweak and improve a stereo mix done back in those days, from a VHS tape !

    Sad Day

Quite the journey in this piece Wookiee, well conceived, good you have the music to express your feelings. I had someone in my life who gradually disappeared, leaving many questions for me. There's a very dissonant interval you use in the melody (tritone ?) halfway through, then you pull out of it, more positive, but never resolving, really like the way you expressed this, stay well . . .
  24. Well done again Nigel . . . enjoyed the video and the music very much ! You laid down a great groove and kept it interesting. Very cool how the first and last scenes of the video create a tension and a resolution. Really like the lyrics around "Big Brother is on the loose . . ."

    El Guerrero

This sure helped me relax after a long day, just what I needed . . . thanks for that ! Well played on all instruments, and I concur, lots of space around them in your mix.
