  1. The one to the problem that was discussed over a year ago? IIRC there were some changes to the Staff View since then, so perhaps the original issue has been resolved.
  2. F1 should bring up the *.chm file, though it might pop up behind another window. Or, if you have a third-party tool that can filter a file list, search for vel*.chm. Another thread that might have useful info: Turn off Velocity Sensitivity. I just ran a quick test of the Cakewalk Velocity MFX with TTS-1 just to make sure it affects volume. I split the Instrument Track into its MIDI and audio components, put the Velocity MFX on the MIDI track (in the track's FX bin), and recorded both midi and audio with the settings that were there. (See image.) Low velocities and high velocities sounded very close to my ears. If necessary (based on what you want to do), you might need to tweak the settings per the help file if the plug-in meets your needs. Since I recorded the audio through the Velocity MFX Plug-in, the loudness has been corrected based on the settings. However, the MIDI track is as I played it (with low and high velocities). With the plug-in on, all notes sound at the same level to my ears. If I turn the plug-in off, I hear the notes as played (softer and louder notes). Hope this helps. Clarification: Based on the following, I don't think the settings I used is the ideal solution you want. Also, I am not sure that you can use the plug-in by itself to adjust for different levels across your keyboard in real time (if that's what you need). That's why I referenced the Help file.
  3. (1) These manuals? (2) Is the automap guide applicable? I have plain old MIDI interfaces with multiple ports and they show up as numbered ports. Is it possible that the ports are for user configuration and not specially dedicated to certain functions? If so, perhaps the automap utility is just a tool for helping users to set up the flexible MIDI ports?
  4. Thanks for mentioning this. I saw previously owned "instruments" got reset for a new round of 180 days, but had no idea the files were changed. Did you compare the sizes of the unzipped files or just the zip files?
  5. I haven't used Mobius in like a decade; so I am not sure what newer versions look like and I forgot how to use even the old version, but let me ask: Are your plug-ins VST2 or VST3? If VST3, try the VST2 versions. This might not be the solution you need, but if I had the issues you described, that's the first thing I'd check. Hope its that easy of a solution. If not, maybe some others here have more current experience with Mobius. UPDATE: I just looked it up and if its the same Mobius I was thinking of, it looks like same software I used a decade ago on an XP PC, probably with SONAR X1. (The copyright date on the site says 2011!) If the software itself hasn't been updated since then, you might want to consider newer looping software--unless others here have gotten it to work properly more recently.
  6. A year or so ago I was exploring an issue related to this IIRC. I remember doing an awful lot of trial-and-error testing to try to see what was going on mainly because I have had successes with my Workspaces set up for two monitors. I seem to recall the specific issue you are mentioning, but I don't recall if there was a "solution." I seem to recall confirming somethings. If I am remembering this correctly, maybe the previous discussion will at least confirm the issue. I will look for it. Found the thread I had in mind. I will try to re-read the thread this evening to see if it relates to your current issue.
  7. See also this discussion. I agree that it would be handy if the MIDI display filter showed all MIDI strips and likewise that it would be handy to be able to show only the audio portion of hybrid audio+midi tracks. I disagree with the original statement in this thread that [Since Track 4, a MIDI track] . . . does not give audio out. . . . . "we don't need to see it in the console view." If the 4th option can be implemented, that sounds like it would add flexibility for all users.
  8. Looks like there are plenty of options for people wanting to get in on Cherry Audio deals. I did a Google search for June sales and one of many hits was for KVR-- where they have the upgrade from Voltage Modular Ignite to VM Core + Electro Drums for $25.** I assume other vendors have sales, too. So, just saying look around to assemble your own best deals and upgrade paths. Note: I am relatively new to shopping for deals (1 year +/-); just passing this on. **EDIT: See another upgrade deal immediately below.
  9. The first time I read this it sounded like the alternate suggestion being made was for something like what we have with track control management but for individual tracks and buses as opposed to types of strips (like we have already). At least that's what I initially thought. And if that's the case and we had the ability to choose from available options which widgets were on specific/individual strips/tracks/buses, maybe it would be possible to call an inserted bus something like "MY FINAL MASTER BUS" and choose which widgets it has (as many or as few as you want) As for delete/hide/disable, perhaps there could be a possibility of showing (greyed out) non-enabled widgets which could be re-enabled with a right click or something or not shown at all. Peace.
  10. How are you recording notes when this happens? Mouse clicks? Using a soft synth? Using a virtual controller? With an external MIDI/usb controller? etc. Also, what Inputs do you have selected for the specific track you are recording on when this happens?
  11. This ^^^^ is what prompted me to take a serious look and I don't regret that I could have waited for an additional 15% discount with the GROUP discount. The bundle definitely appeals to the sonic explorer in me. Explored some things with the eFeMerizer a few days ago, and now the BiQuad Filter. As a big fan of delay effects, PSP's Delay has much to offer my sonic taste buds. There are so many decent modules in there, its hard to imagine virtual modular enthusiasts not finding at least half a dozen personally useful ones, maybe even a dozen (or more) favorites.
  12. I don't do this, but I did test it several years ago, possibly with several different methods/plug-ins. IIRC for Sonitus I followed the steps here. (Or it might have been another of his articles.) Its been a while and there are others here who can probably look at what you've done and diagnose what you are doing. In the meantime, maybe Craig Anderton's SOS article will provide some insights. Just tried to reconstruct what I had done and it is not happening.
  13. I participated in this thread. There are probably other threads, too. I suggest reading them before doing an impulse purchase.
  14. To mix the levels of the tracks. ADDENDUM: If you only have one MIDI track, you probably don't need to adjust the level. But let's say you have more than one midi track, you can adjust the level of each track in the console. Hope that makes sense to you. Here's something I was listening to earlier, so it was handy. Multiple MIDI tracks mixed into one soft synth. Also works for hardware synths. There are other uses but I think these cases are the easiest to help answer your question. PS: Perhaps I should add that in addition to setting relative levels the other mixing/console features also work on MIDI tracks (mute, solo, pan, etc.).
  15. I have a number of the . . . -64 FX that used to come with SONAR because I installed Bandlab's Cakewalk while I still had versions of SONAR installed. Cakewalk detected those and automatically made them accessible. FWIW, I tested all of them and IIRC, at least one of them was very sluggish. Not sure if it was a setting on my PC or what. I just did a quickie MIDI test of the TS-64 and on my PC there is a very noticeable delay from the time a note is played on a usb keyboard and the sound emerges from the TS-64. Playing back tracks it doesn't seem to have such a delay if there is any at all. To test I duplicated a short bassline to a track with the TS-64 removed and played both simultaneously. Maybe its not included because there is a problem with the plugin on some PCs? Just a guess.
  16. Some people might use it. I agree as was discussed in another thread there should be an OPTION not to show MIDI tracks, but for some users not having the ability to show MIDI tracks in the console would be problem.
  17. Since Creative Labs seems to have had zero interest in doing anything with the Emulator X3 for many years, perhaps Bandlab could get the intellectual property for a bargain basement price (as I have suggested before). It is extremely efficient and runs very well as a standalone and as a plug-in within Cakewalk. Very low CPU usage in my experience with dynamically-assigned polyphony (notes don't cut-out with preset changes, etc.) with efficient multiple output ports . (I gave up on Independence.)
  18. I just tried the Track Options tab > t > p as noted above. Next to having a single keyboard shortcut or a macro or software that sequences keystrokes, Options tab > t > p seems quite efficient to me. No need to set up screensets or re-juggle floating windows. Options tab > t > h and Options tab > t > v also work for horizontal and vertical meters respectively. All the floating windows stay where they were. Just so there's a smaller chance of misunderstanding (which is always possible): we all have our own workflows, preferences, personal efficiencies, etc. What's personally efficient for one person might not be as efficient for another person.
  19. IMO Windows 10 is notorious for changing settings, but for me the recent updates haven't changed as much as a few years ago. Overnight (after about 16 hours) my Win 10 1909 updated to 2004. I found some things changed and some things didn't. My guess is that what gets changed with the newest Win 10 update can be very different for each of us. In my experience, automatic rollbacks after failed updates did not restore all my previous settings. So, I often had to redo my audio tweaks--including my sound settings (preferred devices, etc.). If you used some of the handy audio tweak guides available at different sites, you MIGHT want to revisit those and redo the same tweaks you've done previously before doing the Windows 10 version rollback. Caveat: I have no professional experience in this area, just several years of having to redo what Windows 10 has undone (much like many Cakewalk users, I suspect). BTW, this time I did have to re-enter my password for several third-party synths. Fortunately, I have not yet had to re-adjust my sound device settings or the Windows Sound settings. Also, I did not have to reinstall my HDD extended partition software as I have had to do on some previous Win 10 updates.
  20. Question: If you (1) set up Screenshots 1, 2, and 3 (with horizontal meters, vertical meters, and no playback meters, respectively), (2) use floating/undocked windows, and then (3) move around and resize windows when you are in Screenshot 1 (for example), when you switch to Screenshot 2 and/or 3 do the previously saved positions and sizes revert to the way those Screenshots were saved, or do they inherit the locations and sizes from Screenshot 1? When I last tried it (a few days ago), the Control Bar's position and size persisted, but the floating/undocked windows reverted to the previously last used sizes and locations. I know from experience the way my PC works is different from what others experience. Not sure if there is a setting that would affect this on different PCs, if it depends on graphics chips, etc. UPDATE: To make sure this didn't change (Win 10 v. 2004 update finished approx . 3-4 hours ago), I retested. As before the update on my PC, after being moved/resized the Control Bar's location/size persisted through different screen sets but the various floating/undocked windows didn't. Also, in duplicating a screenset, the floating Inspector window disappeared each time and had to be re-opened for the benefit of the new screenset. As with other things, I assume that not everyone's Cakewalk will exhibit these properties. As we all know, what works for one person (and I don't mean just in terms of workflow/preferences) won't necessarily work on someone else's PC.
  21. I seem to recall seeing this issue (or a similar one). I might be misremembering, though. What version (including build) are you using? I will look for the post I am remembering.** Edit: **Still looking. Maybe this is what I was remembering? I didn't find any public follow-up discussion on this. Not sure if the cause hasn't been pinpointed yet, or if there has been a solution. Others might know.
  22. I am usually more subtle, less confrontive, but if you look at this: I hope you will see that I posted it with "not-unreasonable" well before you decided to call attention to my typos in the later posts. Please note: I still don't feel like these irrelevant issues are worth debating. For me it is a distraction from a legitimate question/concern about having a keyboard shortcut for meters and I would hate to see this thread closed. Peace.
  23. Sorry to disappoint you, @John, but I had deleted the post and fixed a number of typos (probably not all of them) BEFORE I saw your reply. I disagree with your assessment of my post, but don't feel like it is worth wasting my time, your time, or anybody else's time debating. Suffice it to say that on my PC, the Shift+F7 shortcut under discussion not only didn't toggle the meters, but it didn't do diddly-squat with the meter options dialog as you seem to have suggested. Just to fill others in on the "facts/alternative facts" non-controversy (in other words, I hope this doesn't inspired more barbs), I had laid out a sort-of parallel example with a Drag and Drop Options keyboard shortcut. In so doing I presented several images as "facts" (FACT # 1, FACT # 2, etc.) because I thought that "premise" was too esoteric and I didn't want to be accused of being pedantic again. So, at the end of the post, I threw in what I intended as a joke about facts and alternative facts. The statement was punctuated with an icon that to me was intended to ridicule what I think is an absurd idea ("alternative facts"). It was in part a reference to the images I had posted in the beginning (a) from the reference guide, (b) from [P] references > Keyboard shortcuts, and (c) from Track View > Options presented as facts (really, they were premises, but that's three words syllables 😛 !!!). Now, you see that icon? To me, I intended that to convey a reflexive irony joke kind of meaning. However, icons (just like language itself) can be interpreted (and misinterpreted) in different ways. For example, someone else might see that icon and thought I was being disrespectful--kind of like I was sticking out my tongue in defiance. (I don't know if that's the case here). Peace! Yup: reasonable = not unreasonable = it would not be unreasonable--as if to say: I can understand how someone would see this when setting up a shortcut and conclude that the shortcut would "Reset All Meters" as opposed to do something else. TY for helping to make the clarification.
